this was a company that I used several times. They were quite responsive, the workman were friendly, and the prices were reasonable. I initially contacted them for a small leak in our slate roof. They told me that the flashing needed repair and the work got done on time. They suggested that we might need some tuck pointing work done. The price was good, so I had them do this as well. Hard for me to know what is good and what is not, but the work got done. Didn't match what was there, but looked ok. Then we asked for custom gutter guards to prevent leaves from collecting in the gutters. This again, was no problem, and the work got done quickly. and the problems started. The first winter, when snow was on our room, caused the gutter guards to start falling down. I called Central to complain about this. No one responded to multiple calls. Then the leak recurred in our room. This time, I called Vince Graye to look at it. He came down and said what the h*** was going on in the flashing around the chimney? that this was one of the worst and most unprofessional installations that he had seen. Never again. I can't complain enough about them.

The work commenced in Feb/March with placing of scaffolding around the entire house and went well. The foreman was conscientious and the workmen were courteous, hardworking, professional and showed up every day. They also did meticulous work. Because my roof is quite complicated with four dormers, each with three ridge lines, five other ridge lines and multiple changes of pitch all required the slate to be hand cut, the work took a long time and there was more wastage than anticipated. A special slate, more had to be ordered; and bad weather all added to the completion date. All reasonable and understandable. My insurance company initially offered about half of what my three bids came in at and the foreman was dogged in getting the insurance company to slowly and reluctantly raise there settlement to cover my contractual agreement with them. However, the excess costs of labor and slate, while verbally agreed upon between the insurance adjuster and roofing supervisor, are yet unresolved. The craftsmanship was excellent, the foreman was honest, tenacious and accessible; but the front office invoices and E-mails were confused, inaccurate and frequently contradictory and this has lead to the lack of resolution.
Description of Work: They negotiated with the insurance company to cover cost of new slate roof and gutters on house, and new shingle roof and gutters on garage, resulting from a hail storm. They did that work as well as all new downspouts, carpentry repairs to my four dormers and replacement of bad decking.
