replacement windows
 + -1 moreThe windows that they installed have been good. I used two different brands of windows that feature a tilt out feature that is not really of any value to us. They did a lot of sealing with a clear silicone caulk on the joints on the outside of the house. When that silicone gets dirt on it, it is virtually uncleanable. I'm not sure whether they realized it but they should use a paintable caulk. The tilt out windows on a one story home has been very disappointing. I would not advise to use tilt out windows on a one story home. The window screen that was used was inferior to screens we had on an Anderson system prior. Both brands of the tilt windows the screens are spring loaded and generally are more difficult to use.

 + -1 moreThey advertise a $189.00 per window with the finishing which I found was not the actual price as it was about $400.00 per window. They did not caulk the top seam the first time. However the second time that work was done. The second time even though it was a year later with a different team the cost was the same. Both of the teams were very good workers. The first time I had 5 windows put in and the second time another 5 windows were installed both within a day. They cleaned up after themselves. The salesman was very nice and he showed me the different options with the different price points. They are a local company and the windows are made in the midwest.
Description of Work: They put in 5 windows on two separate occasions. I live in a home from the early 1950's.

 + 0 moreIt was a harrowing experience, the installer was rude, careless, broke my plants, brought the windows into my house unwrapped, scratching up my hardwood floors, and interior walls, and furniture. I had spent the previous two day moving furniture, pictures, lamps, everthing out of their way. None of that mattered, the team leader spent most of his time on his cell phone, and the 6 month apprentice did all the heavy work by himself unsupervised. I spent all evening cleaning the house of wood and dust, they did not have enough drop clothes, so I was covering my furniture with sheets. I was cleaning calk off my laminated floors because he was careless, I will not be buying any windows again. Just to careless with the tools, materials and never said Hello!
Description of Work: When the installers arrived they didn't introduce themselves, just walked up to me and said they were here to install some windows. I had moved the furnishings for the last two days in preparation for them, they immediately came into my house carrying windows and began bumping furniture, scratching furniture and floors, when I asked what they were doing, I was told, doing my job by the older man who's name I found out later was Wilson, I asked them not to tear up my interior wall, scratching up my hardwood floors and walls, then I went and called my brother to come over and supervise because I felt that I being a woman, they were not going to respect me at all, as soon as he arrived they got themselves busy working. The team leader had an apprentice of 6 months experience with him to change nine windows, he spent most of his time on his cell phone, not surpervising his co-workers work. I my self started moving the windows and screens to the front porch, because noone was moving them and the clutter was getting bigger, they didin't bring enough drop clothes, so I began covering the furniture with sheets. I cut my red leaf sand cherry bushes back to accommodate the services of the worker and he physically broke a limb, half way down the plant, I asked him to walk me around the property and look over the work, and he stated he already had looked it over. I never saw him do that. I spent all evening sweeping up wood because they didn't clean up after themselves, they didn't have a broom, just a broke broom

 + 0 moreFrom the salesperson to the guy who came to measure to the customer service group all the way to the installers, we are very pleased with this company. Competitively priced, friendly, professional, punctual, hard-working and persistent....very good attributes to have when running a business. We will use them again and we highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Castlerock replaced 14 windows and one patio door in our 1965 two story house. It took approximately 2 1/2 days to install the windows. All windows replaced were original to the house. The wood windows (8 of the 14) were very difficult to remove but the installers completed the task with knowledge, grace and good humor. The windows look fantastic and we no longer feel the cool air drifting in. It is also noticeably more quiet inside the house.

 + -1 moreWe had two very difficult windows replaced. We have an older home w/ custom tile in the bathroom, which is where one of the windows was. I was REALLY afraid they would crack a tile. I asked the sales rep and the installers if they were sure they could install w/out hurting my precious tiles. They did a great job and nothing was hurt at all. They were extremely CAREFUL and I appreciated the time they took to do it right and not damage anything.
Description of Work: Castlerock remodeling gave us amazing windows and service!!! We are thrilled. They just installed two very difficult windows. The technicians were courteous, polite, timely.....even offered to clean up extra mess. I will definitely use Castlerock when we are ready to do another home project. I highly recommend them. We have an older home and there is bound to be lead paint somewhere. The technicians were VERY careful about not letting any dust get anywhere. I really appreciated the set up time to do it right.

 + -1 moreOverall, the presentation was informative and detailed by the representative who seems to enjoy his job. He explained how the windows are made and how they work and looked at the present ones measuring each for size. Then he prepared an estimate of the cost of installation and told me about their teams of installers, how they work and how long the job would take. At this time, I have decided to postpone getting new windows so I have not engaged any services.
Description of Work: The representative was prompt when he came to my door and pleasant. He was courteous and professional while he told me about his company and his career and showed me a small sample of the windows they install.

 + 0 moreOverall it went pretty good. They were thorough. I would advise people to be sure the salesperson is qualified to measure and replace windows. We had a slight incident where a couple of the windows were measured wrong and they had to reorder them. It took a while to get the new windows back in. We were a little disappointed but they came through and gave us a pretty good discount. It is unlikely that we would use them again.
Description of Work: We used Castle Rock Remodeling for nine windows and one exterior door replacement.

 + -1 moreInstallation was punctual and service technicians were polite. All went well until a St. Louis storm. One of the windows started leaking. We observed it over the course of the next few months, thinking it was just a particularly bad storm, but it continued to leak. A service technician came out and told me it was leaking because of the way I was opening and closing it. The window continued to leak, and has damaged the frame now. A second window is leaking as well.

 + 0 moreThe windows were great. The guys were in and out and it was lovely. It did take them quite a while to get everything in from the time we placed the order. They said it would take 6 weeks but it took 13 weeks. They farmed out the siding to another contractor and he was a nice guy. But he had also hired other people to do the siding. They put up the wrong siding while we were gone. It was clearly marked on the box what it was. So they had to reorder and when they got the right siding they did a very bad job. It didn't look good at all. We called the owner and he had to come out and fix it himself...twice. The whole process took 2 1/2 weeks to put siding on my house, which isn't very big.
Description of Work: They put on new siding and also put in new windows.

 + -1 moreThe salesman measured the windows and gave me an estimate. He gave his opinions of what could be done with no pressure. He came out right away to do the measuring and to give me an estimate. When the windows were in he was just as prompt on installing them. He did a great job. He took down the drapes and put them back up when they were done. He cleaned up after himself.

 + -1 moreThe windows were of high quality. The installation was adequate but the wait to get the windows was excessive and threw my entire schedule behind. The windows were supposed to be delivered in three weeks and it was more like 4 1/2. Each time we called we received a new story as to why the windows were delayed. After the windows were installed we had to wait an additional 4 - 5 days to get them capped.
Description of Work: Remove existing windows, haul away the debris and replace with new, vinyl, double hung, tilt thermal pane windows.

 + 2 moreThey crew that came to do the work arrived over a half hour late. They did go straight to work but weren't very personable. The job ended up taking more than a week longer than it was expected to. The cost was what was estimated, so that was good. I was pleased with the final product.

 + -1 moreInstalled windows on wood that I saw was rotting and damaged. I asked them to continue with the windows, but stop putting the trim around the exterior of the windows. They finished the job and left and as I began to look, I saw numerous problems with each window, both interior and exterior. I did get a hold of Mike Haggerty, who did come the next day and briefly looked around the house with me without taking any notes. He told me they would send someone to talk with me within 2 days, it has been 8 days and they have yet to send someone out. I have called and emailed numerous times. Total cost is $4,400. I have paid them $3,300 so far.

 + -1 moreLove the windows, hated the unprofessional, incompetent management who could not coordinate a simple schedule or figure out that people work for a living and just can't take more time off because a company is too unorganized to get the job done on time! The guys who installed the windows were great. I have no complaints about them at all. If I owned Castle Rock, I would fire the manager who's job it is to coordinate jobs and make sure they are completed on schedule as promised. You don't send a crew to start a new job when you have already started a job, left the outside of the house torn up, don't show up to complete the outside for an entire weekend and then finally get around to finishing a one day job in a week! I missed work when I should not have had to miss work. I had to be home, but they didn't show up, so I had to take another entire day off. The crew did not even have a broom or dust pan to use to clean up the small pieces of glass. I had to let them use mine.

 + -1 moreThe work went okay, but I asked if they would re-install the blinds, and they said they would not without an extra charge. I was unable to do it myself and thought they would be doing it since we discussed the blinds when they were doing the quote. He had said I wouldn't have to move the blinds because of the way they were installing the windows, which of course was not the case. I ended up doing it myself instead of paying extra. Other than that, I was satisfied with the work.

 + -1 moreThe installers (2) were on time (or early) & worked 9 straight hours. They removed one window at a time & replaced it, (total of 13 windows), they cleaned as they went & took away all the old windows. The installers were very professional, polite, & just plain great.
Description of Work: Remove 12 old windows & replace with 13 replacement windows. This included removing all the old windows, framing, & screens, & taking them all away. There was a lot of debris (trash), & they cleaned as they went & made sure all rooms & yard were spotless.

 + -1 moreI was very disappointed in the overall experience. It was inconvenient and seemed as though I was always 'waiting' on them to come back out and fix their mistakes. What upset me the most was that they told me they didn't use subcontractors, only their own employees. This was not the case as two of the workers admitted to me that they were subcontractors.
Description of Work: Four bedroom windows were installed. The workers showed up a few hours late on the day of installation when I was on my way out the door. Hours later I cam home to see the work that had been done. They left 'junk' all over both bedrooms-dirt, debris, nails, etc. One of the windows was put in crookedly. When I called them about it, they came out and told me that the preexisting frame was crooked. It was eventually resolved, but they ended up coming back to the house THREE separate times. They also failed to seal two other windows in the other bedroom.

 + -1 moreSTARTED THE JOB; THEN DELAYED BY RAIN. CAME BACK ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER (AFTER CALLS TO THEIR OFFICE) TO PUT IN REMAINING WINDOWS. THE CREW REPORTED TO THEIR BOSS THAT THEY WERE DONE. BOSS CALLED WANTING BALANCE DUE. HOWEVER, THE INSTALLATION WAS FAR FROM COMPLETE. TOPPERS AND INSULATION WORK ON WINDOWS NOT COMPLETE AND THE WINDOW SHUTTERS HAD NOT BEEN REINSTALLED. ONE SCREEN DAMAGED. THEY REPLACED THAT, BUT THERE IS STILL ANOTHER ONE TORN AND DAMAGED. SHUTTERS WERE DAMAGED ON THE REINSTALL. DIFFICULT TO GET THEM BACK OUT TO FINISH THE JOB. THEY SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE QUALITY-INSPECT THE JOB BEFORE CALLING AND DEMANDING PAYMENT. I PAID THEM, BUT WILL STILL HAVE TO LIVE WITH ONE DAMAGED SCREEN AND WILL HAVE TO FIX GOUGES IN SHUTTERS AND REPAINT.
Description of Work: REPLACED MOST OF THE WINDOWS IN A SPLIT LEVEL HOME, REMOVED OLD WINDOWS.
