Andres Roofing

The owner came by within a day of my calling and walked around on my roof, discussed what I wanted done, showed us samples, etc. He emailed me the bid a few days later. Based on first impressions I was already leaning toward going with him but then his bid price turned out to be substantially lower than other bids I had received. It couldn't have worked out better. Because of the heavy rain this summer there was a slight delay because they couldn't commit until the beginning of September. But that worked out better for me anyway. The crew (including the owner) showed up on the appointed morning and had it done by early afternoon. They were pleasant and surpisingly neat covering the ground and plants with tarps and cleaning up after themselves thoroughly. One planned for preexisting defect in my chimney flashing surfaced during their work. The owner called me with two options: fix it somewhat at no additional cost or fix it well for what seemed a very reasonable amount. I chose the latter. But in the end he decided to leave this extra cost off and the roof came in at exactly the bid. They did my neighbors' roof several years back and they loved them. I kind of feel the same way. I definitely recommend you check them out if you need work done.

Andres Roofing did an excellent job..... quality work delivered on time at the contracted price. When meeting with a number of roofers for bids, there were several things I wanted done that some considered optional. In the case of Andres Roofing, these items were considered standard items that would have been done anyway. While I still had to pay for these items, it served as positive quality differentiation for Andres Roofing. The owner, John Andres is very conscientious and runs a good company. The roof is almost a year old and we remain very happy with our "Andres Roof".

Their price was better than others. Everything went perfectly.

All work went very well. It took a little while for them to start due to some other work and weather conditions. Once the work started they were working from early morning to late afternoon. They covered the plants and shrubs that needed it and cleaned up after they were done. I would highly recommend them and use them again in the future if needed.

Got the bid in March. The roof was installed in July. I assume that the delay was because of the very rainy spring. They did break one window--both the storm window and actual window. This happened on the side of the house which they had the dumpster placed, and one piece of the roofing bounced back up out of the dumpster and smacked the window--I think. I was not here when the window broke. The storm window is still getting fixed by a local company, courtesy of Andres. My husband is working on the wood and glass pane window--which are original to the house. Fortunately, for us, this really isn't a big deal because my husband is quite handy and has fixed a few windows in our home before. Andres offered to put in a new vinyl window which we declined because we like our old fashioned windows. They also took a few hundred off the cost of the new roof. All in all, I am happy with the way they handled the window--I guess my only advice to prospective home owners would be a quick installation of plywood over the windows--if the roofer doesn't use a shoot, and if the dumpster is going to be very close to the house--which it was in this case, because our driveway goes right up to the foundation of the house. The roof itself is fine, it looks good and they used the shingles that we chose. I think that Andres are good people, and I am happy with their work.

Everything was fantastic from the initial phone call and estimate to the finished job. This company is dedicated to customer satisfaction. I would recommend to anyone needing a new roof. The workers were considerate. They were efficient. They cleaned up the yard and left me with a great roof.

We called 3 roofing companies to the roof for damage due to high wind. Two companies said they did not know when they can come. Andre Roofing responded fairly quickly to our inquiry and came on the promised and date. The service person performed inspection of the roof for wind damages. There are several visible torn up shingles. He also found some wear on the flashing around one vent pipe. He gave a cost estimate of $200, the minimum they would charge for a service call, and offered to do the work right away as he has materials in his truck. We think the price is reasonable. But getting the repair done immediately is important for us. We would use Andres Roofing for any future roof work.

I have used them before. When I called them, I could hear water drip when it would rain, but I couldn't see where it was dripping from and I was trying to figure out what was going on, and I kind of concluded that I had a vent pipe for the upstairs toilet, which was going through the roof and out, and it looked like to the boot around the vent had cracked and I thought that the water was coming in from there. We have a very steep roof, and so I wasn't going to get up there. I called them and I told them that I thought that was the problem, and if they could have somebody come out and check if that was the problem and if they could replace the boot. They said they would give me a 10% discount for being an Angie's List member. He did a little more than what I was asking for. We had them replace our roof in total a long time ago, and when I saw they were on Angie's List, I went back to them. It is a family run business. We will probably replace our roof in a couple of years, and I would just go to them on a non-competitive basis, unless their price was too high.

This company provided a more detailed bid for work than any other company and included options as a part of the bid. Other companies had included these as add-on's. They returned all phone calls about the bids in a timely manner. I decided to go with Andres because of the manner in which the bid was written and because Andres is a local company in the St. Louis region. The first estimate of the install date had to be moved due to the rainy weather they but kept their promise of having the roof installed before June. When the crew arrived they were fast and thorough from beginning to the end of the project. One thing that impressed me was their attention to detail. I have two sun tunnels and in the process of removing the roof small particles of the old roof dropped into the light shaft. I could see these from inside and intended to tell the lead worker about this but he beat me to it. He came inside, removed the covering and the bits of roofing. One of the workers had told him this had happened. What impressed me was they were the ones to report it! In conclusion, they cleaned up the yard thoroughly and followed up with a written bill of sale and lien waver.

He did not respond to the phone call until late that evening, and we made a time for him to come out. He missed that appointment completely with no call, and he called the next day to say he had taken my call while on a job and had forgotten to put the appointment on his calendar.

John Andres, the owner came out to do the estimate on 4/3/13 which was verbal. We called in regard to flashing that needed to be repaired. He looked at the whole roof and suggested that he retap nails that had popped up and rework loose flashing. He gave us the discount from Angie's list. He came to do the work 2 days later on 4/5/13. He was very pleasant and professional. He did a good job and cleaned everything up afterwards. I paid him by check and asked for a receipt. The only small glitch had to do with a receipt. He could not give us one at the time. He said he uses his computer for that and that I should give him my email address and he would send me a receipt. A couple of days later my husband noticed one other flashing area that he thought John might have missed. My husband told him about the area by phone. John suggested that my husband take a picture and send it to him via email after we received the receipt which would contain his email address. But, as we never received the receipt, we never sent the picture. We do not consider this small glitch a reason not to call John again.

I first contacted Andres Roofing last September, for an estimate on replacing my 15 year old roof. They came out the next day to look at the roof and emailed me a contract with an estimate, the following day. I got several bids and even though theirs wasn't the lowest, I liked the information they provided, and the way they answered all my questions, so I selected them. Due to lots of storms in the area last year, they were very busy and wouldn't have been able to do the work until late in the year, but I was concerned about the low temperatures and decided I wanted the work done this spring. They came exactly when they said they would, and did a wonderful job. The new roof looks great. I would highly recommend the company to anyone needing a new roof.

They were professional and courteous. They explained their pricing and what to expect. They encountered problems (rotted wood) under the porch roof and handled it very well. I ended up with a quality repair that will last for years.

I had Andres Roofing install a roof at my previous home and I was so impressed by their work that I didn't even think about calling anyone else. The installation was done in two days with no debris or damage to vegetation. (At my previous home, they did cause some minor damage to a storm window which was taken care of promptly). The experience working with John is like night and day compared to other roofers. He's very good at helping you to sort through the options available, and his provides a complete and detailed specification of the scope of work in his proposal. I was also impressed that they specify 30# felt underlayment (most use 15#) and offer a 7 year workmanship guarantee. Because they have such a good reputation, they *do* stay very busy. They might not be able to start your job right away, especially towards the end of the season. It is worth the wait though.

I am very pleased with the overall experience with Andres Roofing Co. The owner John Andres came to give me a bid on replacing my roof, which I had an insurance claim already filed. John's bid was right on with the Adjuster's estimate from my insurance company. I like to give business to the local company, and I had very good phone communication with John's wife Sarah - she was a good communicator with a very customer-oriented mindset. We've scheduled a date for them to start the job on Dec. 3. They were very good at keeping the scheduled date for me because I had to coordinate with Gutter Helmet to remove the pre-installed gutter guards before they remove my old roof and replace with new roof. The crew came on time as scheduled, and everyone was very polite and kept the work area neat and clean. I was particularly impressed by the foreman Rob. He was very patient and professional in answering all my questions and concerns throughout the roof installation. The second day of work they came early in the morning but was surprised by the frost formed on the roof overnight. The foreman explained to me that they had to wait till the sun melted the frost before they could start working on the roof for safety reason. I certainly did not want anyone to slip and fall from my roof, and I was pleased that they communicated this unexpected delay to me in a timely manner. The roof installation went very smoothly. After the crew completed the job, the owner John Andres came again to do the final inspection to make sure all work was done properly. He walked through the roof and around the house to pick up the nails, and he checked the quality of the roof work. He also answered my questions and assured me that all work was done properly. Overall, I was very pleased with Andres Roofing Co. and would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants their roof done in a professional and worry-free way. had one just one boot leaking went ahead and replaced other 2 while they was here . did not go well fixed it myself 10 minutes

I called Andres Roofing after reading positive reviews here on Angies list and a relatively good reference from one of the neighbors. Somehow my experience ended up less than stellar. First of all, I don't expect any company to reply within 24 hours to my requests (although some do), but It was an immediate red flag that it consistently took a week each time I sent a request, whether for the initial appointment, or for clarifying the information on the quote. Second, may be my expectations were just too high, but I needed much more professional evaluation of the whole roofing system. The house is 33 years old, it had at least two layers of shingles and all previous installations were very unprofessional: no underlayment, no peal-and-stick membrane, no drip edge. I also knew that plywood was sagging in many places and I was seriously considering complete re-decking. I wanted a roof done right, I was ready to invest in premium materials and premium quality, and I needed options offered by a professional. During the initial appointment Andres was pretty average. The scope of work offered was fine but mostly cookie-cutter style. Andres didn't offer any creative solutions that my roof required and there was a general impression that they are just not interested very much. Andres quotes were right in the middle, not too high, not too low. After interviewing seven more roofing contractors I finally went with a different company.

Received a quote for the work to be performed. Discussed whether or not to removed old shingles (we did), install roof vents and bathroom exhausts. They arrived at the time agreed upon, completed the work in two days and left the work area in good condition.

The work went very well and it only took a couple of days to complete.

All my questions were answered. He was honest about how they did the job, how long it would take, why they used the products they chose, would use difference product if I wanted.

I selected Andres Roofing based upon the satisfaction of other Angie's List customers who had previously used them and I was not disappointed. I am extremely happy with the job that was done and would recommend them to anyone needing a top notch roofing company.

Excellent experience! Very professional and did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it and for the agreed upon price. Price was very competitive and the lowest price we found among A rated Angie's List roofing companies in our area. If you prefer bidding, questions, etc. by email you will also love this company for that. I prefer not to be making a lot of phone calls or receiving them. This company answered all my questions, did bidding and even negotiating by email. (They'll call you if you prefer that as well.) Great company to work with!
