Steve Allen spent a lot of time explaining the installation and design when providing the estimate, which he supplied on the first visit. The installation was on time and they were reasonably good at not disturbing the lawn and garden. Later we found out they'd severed a clematis vine while installing the controller wiring, which they replaced with one of the same color. There was also a leak in a copper joint near the backflow valve, and in repairing it, another leak was created underground, which was repaired on the second attempt. At all times Neal (operations supervisor) and other staff were responsive to our calls and apologetic for the issues, though it took some time for resolution. The system is now working fine

Allen provided a very thorough estimate package for our irrigation system. We would have been happy to work with Allen, but received a proposal from a competitor that uses similar materials & layout that was approximately 20% lower, so we chose to go with that company.

We liked everything they did. I do recommend you get a landscape design first that you like and then bid it out against vendors. Then you can find the cheapest that fit your needs.

There was initially miscommunication at the time work was performed, which led to a delay in some pending jobs. The manager who oversaw the project no longer works for the company and most likely did not communicate outstanding work with other staff members to complete the job before he left. Since then, the company president made a personal visit to ensure all problems were corrected. We are happy with the results as his staff went above and beyond to make the entire yard look great instead of just fixing the agreed upon area around our tree. Miscommunication happens from time to time, I am pleased that Allen Outdoor Solutions takes pride in their company and will do what it takes to make the customer happy. I intend to use their services again.

Allen Outdoor was very responsive and professional. Their shrub and aeration work was also excellent. Regarding our lawn repair, they could have used higher quality soil in the grass planting. Although the grass has grown in most areas, some will need to be replanted.

It went ok. They came and cleaned the gutters.

We contracted with Allen Outdoor Solutions for an irrigation system for our front lawn after reviewing roughly 6 different proposals. Most were similar in price but Allen Outdoor seemed a bit more responsive so we thought that the follow up customer service would be better. While they were most responsive in the sales phase, follow up visits were less than satisfactory. It took almost 3 months before they followed up with the rain sensor we were due. Then, when it came to winterizing our yard, I called to set up the appointment. I indicated to the person who scheduled that I could meet someone between 9:30 and 2 p.m. at the VERY latest as I have to pick my son up from school. The person who scheduled me said the technician could do the task between 12 and 12:30 and she said she would note the time constraint. They never called to confirm the appointment. Today, at 12:45 I called to find out what how much longer the technician would be and the person on the phone indicated that they don't schedule people for specific times. I indicated that I was told otherwise. I called several times trying to nail down a time. I got off the phone with the person in the office at 2:15 and indicated that I could meet the technician at 3:30. She said he would be there at 3:30. At 2:16, I was going to my car to pick up my child at school (and they are NOT lenient with pick up times) the technician pulled up. He was rather irritated that I wouldn't stay to let him into the house and do a couple of tasks. I explained that I had to pick up my son right THEN and that I was told earlier that he could be here between noon and 12:30. He was not happy. He also indicated that HE had FIVE more jobs after mine. He also did not return at 3:30 like the office suggested he would. (Now I was also told by the front office that my job would take 45 minutes and based on the time the technician gave, fitting in 5 more jobs even in a tightly confined would be difficult if 45 minutes is indeed an average service call.) The next time we contract for something like this, we will have written in the contract what the service agreement looks like. Between working part time and handling a family, I don't have time to sit around and wait on service technicians to show up in a 5 hour time frame and/or the front office not being able to correctly indicate what time the technician will be there. Also, I fully expect them to come back out when I can meet them.

The owner, Steve Allen came to lay out the system, explain options, and discuss cost. References were provided and all were very positive. The work was done punctually and the workers were careful and efficient. They gladly sent out workers several times after the instillation to adjust the system and even reseeded my lawn in areas where they had worked. Steve Allen called and made a follow up appointment to make sure the system was working properly and we knew how to use it. Communications with the office have been cordial and responsive. Overall, they were not the cheapest bid, but they provided the best value for the cost, they know what they are doing, and they provide excellent service.

The owner apparently handles all the initial surveys and planning. He met with me a couple times to talk about what I wanted and provided a plan and estimate, separating landscaping from turf estimates so we could decide how much we wanted to commit to this year. They came in lower than two other bids and were able to install the week after signing, getting it in before we left for a holiday weekend. We went with 7 zones of landscape-only irrigation and the lawn work was done in a day - a plumber had come a couple days earlier to install the diversion off the water line and backflow preventer. The only hiccup was that I asked for a lien waver and a permit for the plumbing, and the rest of the staff was not in the loop. They came a couple times asking for final payment before I got it straightened out by calling the owner - he provides his card w/ cell number. Although it was a little irritating and showed poor communication, I can give them a pass because the owner got it fixed right away. I guess not many people ask for those things (but should!).

I like that they are available. They are nice. They don't try to sell me additional things. They fix exactly what's wrong. They are very responsive, and they come when I need them.

The entire system was installed in just one day. We were thrilled with the care they took in minimizing damage to our lawn during the installation...and have been completely satisfied with the performance of the system.

The previous owner of my home used Allen Outdoor so we decided to give them a try. They did a good job and really know the system that is in place.

Nice people, poor communicators. First contact was good and James, the manager, was great during the visit. He even fixed a sprinkler for free and pointed out some issues. However after four follow up calls and a few emails I was still never able to get the right estimate sent over. The estimate I did receive seemed a little heavy: $576 for 12 new sprinkler heads. The estimate did not include the repair to a leak and the repair to the overflow valve, even though I requested this change be made. Nice people and I think they have good intentions but their lack of response led me to do my own repairs.

They are professional in every way. They answered their phone immediately when I called and were courteous. We actually had another irrigation company install our system a few years back, but they never called me back when I called to get my system on. This was not the first time, so I wanted a company that would not only respond but also be professional. Our serviceman acted like he had installed the system himself -- he took great pride in what he did and did not rush to get to the next job (I think his name was Rob). He was friendly and professional and did what he was supposed to do. I chose them based on their Angie's List standing and also a neighbor's experience. I will call them again to shut it off in the fall.

Their estimate was $9800. They were very professional and good communication. They showed up when they said they would. They were informative, reassuring and had a good product knowledge. They are high on price and their quality is high.

Allen always does good work. Generally have necessary parts on truck when repairs are needed, so no return visits required. Technicians always seem to be well trained when unexpected problems are encountered. Costs are typical for the industry, but seem high when back-flow check is performed at same time as other system maintenance.

They did a good job. They are easy to deal with, punctual, and professional. The owner, Steve, is especially helpful. We are excited to have a green lawn even when the weather is dry.

I referred to Angie's list for companies to get a bid on an irrigation system and possibly some landscape lighting. I spoke to a woman on the phone last week who seemed professional and pleasant. She said someone would give me a call back about setting a time to come out for the bid. I gave her both a cell phone and home phone number and never received a call back. The company has several good reviews on Angie's List and has a nice website so they were at the top of my list to call. I've called 4 other companies and all called back the same day to set up a time to come out. Since I have 4 other companies to choose from I will not bother calling Allen back. Update: Received a phone call & message from Steve Allen over the weekend on my cell phone, over a week after I originally called the company. I was planning on calling him back to let him know we decided to go with another company but he beat me to the callback and called and left another message a few days later at my home number. He did apologize for not getting back to me sooner but said this is their busiest time of the year and he personally does the bidding and gives a detailed layout/plan on-site for each of his possible customers. He offered to come out to give a bid on the irrigation system but we have already decided to go with another company who also gave me a detailed on-site plan, bid, and spent over an hour discussing the potentials for the project (lighting, irrigation, landscape). Based on the reviews here Allen obviously does quality work so I would imagine most people would be happy using them. For one reason or another my number was lost in the shuffle of the season so I am writing this review as a courtesy to them so hopefully this doesn't happen to another potential customer.

This is a top notch company. They did a great job with the sprinkler system and came up with a great solution for some drainage problems with our downspouts. I was very impressed with their professionalism, and will certainly use them again in the future should the need arise.

We received detailed plans, an estimate for each building and suggested types of replacement shrubs and plants. They fulfilled their contract and we were very happy with the work performed. Our contacts with their representatives were very pleasant and agreeable. We made a few changes to our original plan and these changes were accepted with no problem. We are very happy with our landscaping and would hire this company again.

I have used them for many years. They are trust worthy. They are very forth coming about the lawn. They are not over baring. The quality is good. If I have a problem, they fix it. They are very punctual. They give you a window of time they are coming. They are very nice and thoughtful. They are professional.
