All of our crews are uniformed, full time employees as we do not use day laborers. Many of our customers are repeat customers or have been referred to us by a friend or family member who has used our services. This mover has never contacted me since the move and I have never been offered any type of mediation. If you look at my review, you will see that my issue was not with the staff or quality of the work performed. It was with the owner. He failed to uphold what was originally agreed to via our phone conversations. All I can add is if you use this company, please do the following: 1. Have a representative come out and view what needs to be moved. I was told this was not necessary. I trusted the owners experience as to what was needed, even though I did ask for two (2) trucks and was told it wouldn't be needed. 2. Get it in writing. I should have know better than to accept verbal promises from the owner. There is no way show our phone conversations that took place. It's a he said/she said type of situation. It's up to you as the potential consumer to weigh our responses and decide whether to give this man your business. 3. If you decide to spend your money and trust your move to this man, and changes occur during the move, get these changes in writing or video/tape with your phone the conversation that takes place between you and the owner/staff. If you don't have your moving agreement in writing, at least then you may have some recourse when the owner/staff make changes to what was agreed. 4. I had not mentioned the fact that I am handicapped. This was a non-issue as far as I was concerned. The agreement to what services were to be performed should not be based on my disability. The job should have been completed no matter if I have a disability or not. For Mr. Hildenbrand to infer that my disability kept his company for completing the move as agreed to is insulting.
Description of Work: Only completed half the move. Owner accused me of lying about a conversation concerning the move I had with a staff member whom I later was told was the owners brother. Moving crew was polite and efficient. Pricing was reasonable. The owner was very rude and abusive during our phone conversation. I requested packing for my kitchen and was not told before hand that packing service was not provided until the crew arrived the day of the move. I requested two (2) trucks be used and a 5 man crew. Only one (1) truck was sent with a 5 man crew. The owner refused to complete the remainder of the move when he and I were discussing the second half of the move and an argument developed. His final comment before he hung up on the phone call was "Good luck finding someone else to finish your move before tomorrow." The date was April 30 and I had to be moved before May 1.

At All-Star Moving we believe moving day is a very stressful day for our clients. We like to think that we are stress reducers and mediators for our customers' moving day blues. However, this particular customer was the lone set back to their own move and the only factor that led to them not being satisfied with our services and availability. Below is a list of points based on actual events that day and our standard practices at All-Star Moving: 1. The customer was called the day before their move with a confirmation call (as we do with all of our clients) to confirm time and details of service. At that time he suggested us only bringing the one truck to help control costs. Removing one truck from his service order was HIS DECISION. 2. On moving day the crew had discovered that the client wished to have 12 large pieces of cattle fencing that took up a very large portion of the truck on moving day. This was not mentioned to our staff during the multiple phone conversations where we request specific details of the move such as amount of items and size of items to be moved. 3. The crew had completed the first load/unload of the 28' box truck by 2pm that afternoon. A very quick and efficient pace. No damage incurred. At that point, the crew leader did what we ALWAYS DO and showed great enthusiasm to have have crew return to loading address and complete the remainder of the move by relocating the rest of the items that same day. 3. We hold a VERY HIGH standard for our crews and crew leaders. Giving 100% customer satisfaction is not only expected of our field crew but it is also required. For this reason alone, our executive staff has the up-most confidence that our crew leader on this particular move attempted multiple times to make clear to this customer that the crew was very hopeful to finish remaining tasks this same day. Our crew is staffed by eager individuals who come to work everyday trying to obtain as many work hours as efficiently possible to keep their income flowing smoothly and also to keep our clients happy. They understand that as a small business, our efforts and quality of services directly reflects how successful we are as a business and how successful they are as employees. For this reason and others listed below, we know for a fact that the crew and crew leader were NOT the reason the move was ended so abruptly. 4. The customer (with a health condition not previously mentioned) informed our crew and office staff that he did not wish to continue his relocation due to a unknown health condition. I believe the customer had issues with standing/walking for certain periods of time as he described to me at end of move during phone conversations. I feel for people with disabilities and so does our staff. However, our services do not require our customers to stand or walk during their relocation. If anything, we encourage them to sit and relax while we do all of the hard work and stressful tasks of moving. This has been our practice for ALL of our clients healthy or not. We have moved 100's of clients into retirement communities, special needs residences, and assisted living facilities over our many years of service. Each and every one received a bit more patience, help, and understanding from our office crew and our movers in the field. We go the extra mile to have our clients feel comfortable and relaxed during their move no matter their condition of health or special needs. 5. The customer then called our office to reschedule remaining portion of move for the next day. This was not a possibility as we were completely booked at that point for the next few days. We did offer an appointment the following week as our nearest and most immediate solution. We book most of our moves to be completed in one day. This is standard for most moving companies. If we or the customer had expressed concerns about completing the move in one day, we would have reserved a crew for the next day to complete according to customer needs. Again, this was never mentioned by the customer and our crew was willing and VERY able to complete this move in one day had the customer not pulled the plug on the operation in the early afternoon. 6. After being told that we do not have availability for the next day, the customer became irate and began cursing the lady who was handling his phone call. He then proceeded to lie to our office staff saying that the crew didn't want to complete his move. This was obviously not true. After discussions between myself (the owner) and the crew, we determined the customer was the one who canceled the remaining move due to his health and inability to be a passive part of his own move. These discussions happened immediately upon the crew returning to office that day so we could get to the bottom of the issue. 7. The customer had called our office multiple times during the later half of that day to continue to yell and curse at our staff in efforts to get us to come back the next day. Something we were not able to do because of the other families that have reserved our crews the next day to complete their relocation (all went smoothly!) and something that we were now not willing to do due to the way the customer had treated our crews, office staff, and MY FAMILY during his rants and cursing bouts. 8. Through this unfortunate turn of events caused by this customer's ignorance, we attempted to give multiple solutions such as hiring another moving company that could fit his last minute moving needs or scheduling his move with us at our first availability. During phone conversations, the time after the crew left, he was not one for calm discussion or solution based thinking. He just wanted to slam our company and his rating here on Angie's List is his last attempt at hurting our business for his own stubbornness and inability to work with our crew to complete his move as originally planned. 9. We are a small family owned and operated moving company based in St. Louis and no where else. You get a very personalized moving experience with straight forward pricing and no hassle experience. We are not a company that submits to customers who choose cursing and violence as a way of reaching resolution. I have contacted Angie's List member services to help in mediating the issue with our customer or to have this review removed from our profile. I HAD TO CALL MULTIPLE TIMES AND LEAVE MULTIPLE MESSAGES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REACH SOMEONE AT COMPANY. THEY DID A ROUGH ESTIMATE OVER THE PHONE BASED ON MY DETAILED LIST OF WHAT WAS MOVING. THEY DECLINED TO COME OUT TO MY HOUSE TO SEE WHAT WAS ACTUALLY BEING MOVED TO GIVE A BETTER ESTIMATE. I EXPLAINED THAT BASED ON WHAT WAS BEING MOVED, I WOULD LIKE THEM TO PACK AND MOVE ON ONE DAY. THEY SAID THAT WAS COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC DESPITE THE FACT THEY NEVER CAME OUT TO REVIEW THE CONTENTS. I WAS DISAPPOINTED CONSIDERING THE RAVING REVIEWS THIS COMPANY RECEIVED ON ANGIE'S LIST

We aplogize for the inconvenience. However, due to the items you listed over the phone we determined that we could not accommodate your pack/move in one day. This is a standard practice of our business. We are VERY busy this moving season and our availability is extremely short. Our office staff has been overloaded with phone calls and we do not staff office on weekends except for 9a-12p on Saturdays. This is why we did not return your messages immediately. Had you been realistic to our services and accepted a two day pack/move, we would've been able to do an in-home estimate. We don't feel that it is necessary to give us a poor rating because you were unable to accept our proven succesful sales process. More importantly, I don't understand how you received a"rough estimate" before speaking to someone over the phone??? - Matt

Alex, Louis and Joe were very organized and careful with all of our items. They even used padding going through doorways so that nothing, including the doors/door jams would get damaged. We were doing our downsizing in 2 separate moves and were so happy with All Star Moving LLC that we wanted to use them for the 2nd move as well. That is the reason for this late review. Unfortunately, their schedule did not have an opening for our quick time schedule. We highly recommend them and would use them again if we ever decide to move.

I contacted several of the top rated moving companies on Angie's List. I found Matt and All Star Moving to be professional, reliable and courteous. They provided me with what I thought was a very fair estimate, and I was pleasantly surprised that the total cost of my move actually ended up being slightly lower than my estimate. They were accommodating, packing my things on a Sunday, and delivering them promptly the day after loading. Unlike many of the other companies, they did not charge extra for working over the weekend or when the load/unload took longer than expected. I found this to be very professional, and it really helped reduce the stress of moving. All Star provided a fixed estimate of the moving cost and were courteous and professional even when they ran into difficulties at both of my apartment complexes regarding elevator usage and rude building staff. They also drove my car down to Dallas for what I thought was a very fair price. My things arrived to my new apartment in the same condition they left my old one, which was a big relief. I would definitely recommend All Star Moving to anyone who wants a stress free move in the St. Louis area! Thanks Matt!

This moving company is great. We were extremely satisfied with our move and had no issues. The office staff was able to provide all information necessary, answer all questions and provide us with tips to make the move go as smoothly as possible on moving day. They guys and the truck arrived on moving day as scheduled. Everyone was very professional, hard working and took a great deal of care in moving our stuff. They had plenty of shrink wrap and moving blankets to wrap anything and everything that needed to be protected. They were willing and able to un-assemble and reassemble any pieces of furniture that I didn't want to tackle myself. My overall expectations for this move were exceeded and I found their cost to be very reasonable compared to the level of service and pride that they put into my move.
Description of Work: A team of 3-4 guys with one truck moved my family of 4 from a 1700 sqft home to a 2400 sgft home about 5 miles away. The move took place over 2 days. The first day was about 8 hours and the second day was about 3 hours of work.

Matt and his crew (with two trucks) showed up from all star on the first move promptly at 8am. Matt quoted me approximately 9 hours of move time and it ended up being 9.5 hours so I would say he was perfect on his estimate. The move into storage went absolutely smooth. Two months later All star showed up again promptly at 8am and moved us from temporary storage to our new home. There were a few issues but were resolved immediately my Matt and to our satisfaction. I have moved all over the United States and this crew is by far the best I have had the opportunity to work with. The crew is very clean, punctual, professional and very nice. If I need to move again I will look no further than All Star Moving. A+!
Description of Work: All Star moved us from our former home (3 bedroom, 2.5 bath) into temporary storage and two months later from temporary storage to our new home.

Everyone I talked to on the phone was very courteous and extremely helpful wit getting this schedule setup, and thoroughly explaining cost and details of the pickup and delivery. I was given a window from between 2 and 4 and March 9th, the movers called me at 1:30 to state they were on route to the pickup location. They arrived and started work 5 minutes early, which was much better than I expected, as I was expecting the later of the times such are 4:00. Movers called within 45 minutes of of starting to state they were on the way to my house. Once the Movers arrived at my house, they just asked where the furniture was getting setup and commenced to getting it all off the truck and in place. They did amazing work with all of it, they managed to break a drawer pull knob on the dresser, but t was a very fixable break, so I was not concerned with it at all. The guys who showed up were very courteous, and got the whole job done in 2 1/2 hours which is pretty much spot on with how long I figured it would take between loading and unloading and the drive from O'fallon, Mo to Lebanon, Il. I would definitely use these guys again should I ever need to have anything large moved, or when I move out of my current house.

We were disappointed in All Star Moving. We scheduled the move well in advance of the day of the move on Monday at 8:00 am. Cathy took the reservation. The Saturday before the move, Cathy left a message on our phone they would have to reschedule our move to 3:00 pm because they had a more urgent move to do at 8:00 am.. After a frustrating discussion with Cathy, she said the owner would call us. He never called and we did not think we would be able to get in touch with another moving company on the weekend. Our son-in-law and his out of town visiting family came to our rescue and moved us Sunday. Monday morning at 8:00 am the owner called and said they were outside our original place of residence ready to move us. We said Cathy had rescheduled the move to 3:00 pm and would have him call us Sunday. He claimed he knew nothing of this and was very apologetic. Friends of ours were also preparing for a move and wanted to know if we would recommend All Star Moving. Needless to say we said no.

We apologize for the miscommunication between you and the office. There were some scheduling logistics that were assumed by the office staff that were going to affect our scheduling on your moving date. We did not need to move your appointment obviously, but we did not contact you to say we were still on for that morning (as we felt you were under the impression the appointment was still scheduled). However, we never actually informed you that we were officially changing your move time. We called to inform you that it was a possibility. You then assumed we were cancelling and sought out other options for your move. Our schedule remained the same as the crew showed up for work that morning when you cancelled the appointment with our crew. To be clear, we called to inform you of or request a POSSIBLE change in appointment but never made it official due to your request to stay as scheduled. Obviously we kept our commitment to you but you chose to look elsewhere for service. It's an unfortunate turn of events and we apologize for the inconvenience.

My son and his new bride needed to move to the city on short notice because of his new job. There wasn?t a ton of stuff to move, but enough that it was best to have someone else do the job for us since it was about an hour drive to the new location and would have required several trips. I helped with some of the odds and ends getting ready for the move and at the move-in house to help install the washer and dryer that were delivered separately. Most of the items to be moved were self-packed but not everything got packed up prior to All Star?s arrival. We were a little concerned at first because we received a call a couple of hours before move time that their earlier job was taking longer than expected since the person being moved had not disclosed everything they needed moved. We found out later that All Star had to get another crew and truck together to do our move since the original crew wasn?t going to finish up in time. The original move time was 3:30pm, but with the unexpected change in crew the truck showed up at 5:30pm. This was the time we had been told to expect when we got the call about the delay. The delay actually gave us a little more time to finish packing up; whew. The two movers that arrived were very polite and professional. The truck was clean and they quickly got right down to business wrapping up any loose items and the furniture. I was thoroughly impressed with how the crew worked non-stop until they had everything loaded up. When the moving crew arrived at the move-in house, all of the street parking was taken in front of the house. We were in an older neighborhood with no driveways and the truck could not make it through the alley in back due to the size of the trees on either side of the road. They had to park the truck across the street and two houses down. There were a dozen steps up to the front door and no easy way to ?dolly? the loads into the house so everything had to be moved by hand, one item at a time. I felt really bad for the crew since this meant a lot of extra distance to travel and steps to navigate as well. I?m sure glad I didn?t have to do it! The crew never complained a bit and worked non-stop again until everything was unloaded and staged in the designated rooms. We certainly got our money?s worth with this job! It would have easily been a multi-day task and taken several trips to do this move by ourselves. When they were done, late in the evening, they were very courteous and professional. We would certainly recommend All Star moving to anyone looking for a reliable and reasonably priced moving company.

Two guys showed up a bit later than expected but called me in advance to say they were tied up in traffic. This actually worked out better for me since it gave me a bit more time to pack things up and prepare for their arrival. When they arrived they got busy carefully loading my items in such a way that there was no damage to any of my furniture or other belongings. Both men were courteous and professional. I would definitely use their services again.

We were absolutely thrilled with All Star Movers. We were scheduled to have 5 guys and two trucks. The day of moving we had 4 guys show up and thought that maybe being short a guy would be a struggle, it was not. Joe, Matt, Alex and Moe were awesome! They first met my husband at our storage unit at 9am. The guys had my husband look over each item that came out of storage before they put it on the truck, and even made notes on any and all damage. (There was lots of damage by the previous moving company that moved us into storage unit. They did not move or pack several items correctly. ) After packing the storage unit the movers came to our rental house and packed it. They worked efficiently and quickly making sure to take special care with our items. You could tell they had worked together before! They packed items without using a dolly/hand truck, as they told us, this can damage furniture. They continued to work hard all day and ended up finishing around 6pm at out new house. The worked 9 hours and only stopped, shortly, to eat lunch we provided to them. All out furniture was unloaded, without problem or damage and placed exactly where we needed it in our new house. We would absolutely use All Star Moving again!!

Thank you for that stellar review! We had an issue with an employee who had car trouble that morning and unfortunately he wasn't able to make it in to work. However, we never let that slow us down. Matt was very professional. The team members worked hard, especially on the loading process. The unloading process was quite a bit slower. I asked for only 4 men on day 2, but not everyone was as motivated as they were on day 1. A couple if items were damaged and this required 3 weeks and 3 calls to get fixed. The team of 5 got us out of our house on time on day 1 as we had a tight deadline from buyers. Overall the experience was a good one and I would use Matt again.

All-Star Moving is well named: they are stars... from Matt, the owner, to his moving staff to the office staff. They moved me long distance from St. Louis to the NY City area. I've moved a lot, and these guys are the best. Matt was prompt with his bid, responsive to all questions and quirks that arose on my end in scheduling the move, and hands-on. He knows his business. He bid a fixed price, and stuck with it; there were no unexpected add-ons or extra fees. He takes seriously his commitment to each customer and their needs. His guys worked hard, were respectful, cared about doing a good and careful job (which they delivered), and kept their sense of humor and purpose, even as challenges arose at the delivery site and storage room. The office staff is involved and shares Matt's commitment to providing a first class experience for All-Star's customers. I couldn't be more satisfied. When I move again, I will ask if they want the job ... even if it's not to or from St. Louis!

These guys were great. They were clean, professional, and very easy to work with. They did an intial walk through to make sure we were on the same page regarding the move. After that, these guys worked very hard and fast to get us out of our apartment in less than 2 hours. Once at the house, they had the truck emptied in about 1 hour. I would definitely suggest these guys to anyone.

There were five men and they arrived on time. They worked very hard and it was a bigger job than they had anticipated. They arrived at 8am and did not complete the job until after 10:30pm that night. They were very careful wrapping everything up. They were all very kind, professional, and courteous working. It did end up taking longer for the move than it was quoted for. The final cost was twice what we thought it would be with needing extra time, crew members, and another truck. This was the only complaint we had and we wished that the estimate would have been more accurate so that we knew what to except. Everything worked out well.
Description of Work: We hired them for a local move of our whole house.

We apologize for any inconvenience. However, I originally suggested we move you over the course of two days with two trucks. That price did reflect the range in which you did pay at the end of the move. You then went against our original agreement of two days of moving and encouraged us to complete the move in one day. You mentioned to our office staff that you had purged many of your items and did not need them moved. On moving day, you requested us to move those items anyway. Either way, I was upfront with the pricing and estimate of time for your move and the amount you spent was in the ballpark of my original estimate. We did not provide you with a secondary estimate with lower costs; we just went with your suggestions and provided the amount of men and trucks that YOU wanted (despite our recommendations). I researched movers on Angieslist.com and selected All Star Movers because of the good reviews and quality of service. I called them and asked for pricing and their 10% discount. The pricing was good and the 10% off made it better. My plan was to move in 30 days and they suggested that I call back 2 weeks before my move date and schedule it then when I have firm move date. That was a good idea. The day before the move I was called to confirm the move and the following morning they showed up and went right to work. The truck was a good size and the 4 man team worked really well together. We have a lot of stuff and it took 9 hours from start to finish. I'm glad they assigned a large crew. I was very pleased from start to finish with scheduling, planning, pricing and completion. I hope I don't have to move again but if I do I will use them again. Thanks to All Star movers for doing such a good job.

I called to get an estimate over the phone. The lady answering the phone was efficinet and we did a thorough walk through the house, she took notes, asked questions and estimated that we would need 2 trucks and at least 5 guys. In the end we decided that 6 guys would be better. Scheduling and re-scheduling due to our changes were easily handled. On the day of the move only 5 guys showed up. One had an emergency. They all worked their tails off and were fast and careful. However, since they were one person short, it took them a very long time - they finally left our house almost at 1 am! We had lots of boxes so that another person would make a huge difference in the time it took to move. As delighted as I was with the crew, the main office needs to handle scheduling a little better. It was a very long and stressful day. On the negative side, we noticed a few things were damaged during the move. A couple of lamps, plastic feet fell off the kitchen metal chairs and we still can't find the removable shelves from the book shelves. I'm sure they're somewhere around. We didn't notice these things until later so I didn't call the company. And frankly, they're pretty minor and almost expected with the large move (assuming I find those shelves!). All my nice furniture was nicely packed and delivered with no damage.

They showed up right on time, and did a walk-through of the house to see everything we had. They were extremely efficient, got started right away, and did a great job. The job went slightly longer than projected, but was still quick and easy. They had everything out and delivered to the new house in 4 hours. The guys that showed up were extremely professional, very friendly, and trustworthy. We had no problems with damaged furniture, and they were very respectful of the new house and making sure they didn't damage any walls or doorways. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is moving and is on a budget.
