He fixed the initial problem and a few weeks later the compressor blew out. It was not worth repairing at that point and we replaced it
Description of Work: Came to repair upright freezer. It was fixed for a time, but a few weeks later the compressor went out. Not worth repairing at that point.

Our washer stopped working on Friday during the middle of a wash! Doing all the laundry before company arrived for Thanksgiving and this was truly a show-stopper! Called All American Appliance and Boris was very helpful. He said he could get someone out as soon as Monday, which was cutting it close because out of town company was to arrive on Tuesday--but I was happy to get them by Monday. As luck would have it, the tech was in our area on Saturday and had time in between calls. Boris called and asked if they could service right then, to which I replied YES!!! Had the washer up and running within minutes (had a pencil stuck in motor). Boris and his tech were very nice and very professional.

I initially posted a negative review on Monday 5/5/14 due to some misunderstanding and due to a missed appointment. Boris contacted me today 5/7/14 and offered to have his technician come out today and look at our stove with no service charge. I agreed and the technician arrived within the half hour and now our oven is working perfectly. Thank you very much for turning my negative experience into a positive one. The only recommendation I would make is to have your technicians identify themselves by their name and company when they are at the door. My wife had to ask who the technician was and what company he was with before letting him into our house.

I was very impressed that the guy was willing to work late on a Friday, coming around 5:45 and getting me back in business within the hour. Would definitely use this company again.
Description of Work: My washer and dishwasher were on the fritz. The repairman quickly assessed the problem in both appliances, but had to order parts, offering to return late the next day because someone had cancelled an appointment.

A year ago, water had collected at the bottom of my dishwasher, and I had All-American come out to fix it. It was determined that a faulty drain pump was to blame, and it was replaced at a cost of $170. Then last week, the same problem arose again- water collected at the bottom of the dishwasher. I figured it was the drain pump again, and called to complain. The lady on the phone said there was only a 100 day warranty on the part. Initially, I was not happy, figuring I paid $170 for a repair that lasted less than a year. Bores, the owner, caught wind of my dissatisfaction and called me a few days later to ask if there was anything he could do to resolve this. I asked if he could at least send someone to look at it and see if it was the drain pump again, and he did, without charging for the service call. It was found that I had some blockage related to the garbage disposal and that this was causing some water to back up into the dishwasher. The serviceman vacuumed out the gunk that was causing the problem and the problem was fixed. This is an excellent example of someone following up on an issue when a customer was dissatisfied and resolving it. It showed that Bores really cares about people's satisfaction with his company's work. They could have just left it alone, and let me go on my way thinking that they had installed a faulty part for $170, but Bores followed up on this and resolved the situation.

Since my fridge went out over the weekend, I needed to get a tech in to fix it asap. I scheduled an appt with All-American as soon as I could - Monday AM. On Sunday a different company came and looked at it (for $45) and told me that I needed a new computer board but he didn't have it in stock and was going to look into it. So rather than pay another tech at All-American to come and tell me the same thing, I wanted to see if their tech had what I needed on his/her truck so that they could fix it right away when they come. The dispatcher was rude and said she couldn't tell me that, and when I asked if there was a way I could speak with a tech, she said, "No, customers don't talk to our techs." I asked if she'd be able to relay the msg so that the tech could check to see if he had what I needed before paying a visit and charging me $49. She said that there was no way she could do that; she can only make an appt for me. She was so extremely rude that I felt compelled to let folks on Angie's List know how little this company cares about actually helping their customers. Her name was Debbie.
Description of Work: Nothing. Because the issue was actually with the dispatcher!

They didn't do a really good job. We won't use them again. We weren't satisfied with them. They did a half-ass job on it. They had to come back but they're not coming back until Monday. I told them that they needed to come so they came that Saturday but we weren't satisfied. We spent a lot of money with them. I would never use them again. From the beginning, it was terrible. They left in ten minutes. We wanted to use the dishwasher and it didn't work right. They said that this is Thursday and they won't be able to come back until Monday. I would never recommend them to anybody. We didn't save any money with them. Their responsiveness is not good at all.

They came out first to check it out, and charged us $49 for the service call. (We had a coupon for a free servie call with a repair.) They ordered parts and came back 8 days later. It took the technician 20 minutes for the repairs. Our bill was $569 with no breakdown on parts or labor costs. My husband was here when he came and he asked how much of the bill was labor so the technician wrote "$150 Labor" on the bill. I know that some of that has to cover coming out here and ordering and getting the part but he was done in 20 minutes! We also found the parts on line for a couple hundrerd dollars. He did deduct the $49 for the previously paid service call, so our total bill was $520. I called and the owner DID call back only to explain hat the additional costs cover coming out at no charge later if there are problems. I did not ask for this and I think that should be an option not just tied into the original cost. After talking to the owner I conveyed this info to my husband who chose not to pursue it any further although we both feel we were overcharged. We will not use them again.

Called the next day since icemaker did not even fill the bottom of the ice bin. Was told that it would take up to 36 hrs to fill. Called the next day after 48 hrs when bin was only half full. Was then told it could take up to 5 days. Went to Sears Parts to obtain another ice maker, since I thought that was also the problem. They told me it should only have taken 24 hrs to fill. All American charged me $169.00 since I had a coupon for free service call (Worth $49.00, otherwise it would have cost me$218). While at Sears I checked on the price of the valve, and they could have sold it to me for approx. $52.00. I feel I was ripped off and the free service call of $49.99 coupon was added into the price of installing the valve. Also they did not seem like they would come back to resolve the problem and with the high price of installing the valve, I would not recommend them in the future. I feel I was ripped off not cared about, and was extremely surprised to see this company on Angies list, let alone receiving awards! UPDATE: Follow up to review in which I gave an overall "D" and a "F" for price. Received call from owner this morning. Discussed my review with him. Trying to give benefit of doubt, I called two other dealers and was told of a much higher price to replace the valve. I guess it has been a long time to hire a company for repairs, since I normally do the work myself. I have changed the price to an "A", and overall to a "B", but still believe that the care factor and the different "fill up" factors should not have been.

I called on a Mon. (during bad weather) and received an appointment for a repairmen to come to my the house the following morning. He came within the predicted time frame and diagnosed the problem. The correct part was not on his truck so he came back the next afternoon and completed the repair. It was 5pm before he was able to get to my house but he did call late afternoon to let me know I was the next stop. The technician was polite and efficient. I will not hesitate to use this company again.

To sum it up: They stand behind their work. We had them out to check our washer (had to be replaced) and remove the lint from the dryer. He found that the glides needed to be replaced. They were very reasonable costwise. Within a day after he left, the dryer made a squealing sound when the drum turned. We called and they very promptly returned to find the bearing needed to be replaced. That was quickly done with no additional service charge (only the inexpensive repair and part charges). A day after that a scraping sound came from the dryer! We called again and they came out (in the snow) and found a shim needed to be replaced and did it for no charge. While I would have loved to have had all this fixed in one visit I have to give them an A for working until it was fixed (I hope). But if I hear scraping, squealing, screeching, banging, or popping from my dryer I know I can call them and they will come back.
Description of Work: Initially remove lint from the dryer and evaluate if the washer was worth fixing. The rest followed as below.

We called on a Monday afternoon about a broken dryer and were able to get an appointment for the next day between 8am and noon. The tech called to let us know he was on his way around 9:15 and arrived about 15 minutes later. He was able to determine that we had a blown thermal fuse and fixed it within 20 minutes or so. We were charged the minimum of $89 and told that if the problem persisted (the thermal can continue to blow) we would need to order a replacement part for about $160, however if we called All American back to put this part back in they would credit the $89 we had already paid towards installation of the new piece. Overall we have a working dryer within 24 hours of the problem occurring and for a reasonable price.

Updated 12/17/2013: After reading this review, the owner contacted me and has refunded the $49 as promised. The first technician was dirty, did not identify himself, and reeked of cigarette smoke, but gave an estimate for dishwasher repair. I paid for the service call, and I had a coupon from Angie's List for the $49 service call. He said the amount I paid would be credited when I had the actual work done. I requested a non-smoking technician to do the work. After a delay caused by changing technicians, the 2nd technician completed the work and was clean and professional. He credited the amount I paid but did not deduct the value of the coupon from my bill. Realizing that he was not authorized to adjust the bill, I paid the invoiced amount. I then spoke at length with the owner of the company, who was unwilling to recognize that crediting me for money I had already paid his company was not the same as honoring a coupon for $49 off my bill. The owner finally agreed to refund me the amount of the coupon. I have never received the refund.

My oven went out Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I searched Angie's list for a repair service and went with the first company with the best reviews. I called at 6:45 am Wednesday morning. I really did not expect a live person even though website said open at 6:30. I told the gentleman (who was very nice so early in the morning). My oven was slow to heat and it was emitting gas. The gentleman told me that they were booked but he would see what they could do. I was prepared for him to tell me that they would not be able to get to me until the next week. He took my call back number and told me he would give me a call later. Well I went to work and received a call about 9:30. The gentleman told me they could fit me in that day between noon and 2 pm. He asked if I wanted the technician to call me when he was on his way. I said yes. He told that they were very busy so if the tech called but did not receive an answer he would continue on to the next person. I told him I would answer (I provided my cell number just to be sure). The tech called to tell me he was 20 minutes away. He came, diagnosed the problem as the heating element being bad. I already knew this because I researched the problem on internet Tuesday night. Anyway, as he was working, he was explaining what he was doing. I was able to follow along because I had seen several utube videos. It took him about 15 minutes to complete the repair. He gave me the bad part. I am back in business and very happy. I have already being bragging about the company to my family and friends.

Jon (workman) was extremely professional and very helpful. When he realized the oven couldn't be fixed without ordering a part he helped figure out a way I could use it until then. He returned the day the part arrived and fixed the oven. He said there is a 90 day warranty and I have no concerns that if I have a problem they would return and fix it

We called All-American appliance on Wed and had our Thermador Range serviced on Saturday. John of All-American Appliance called thirty minutes before he arrived. He had a great understanding of our range and quickly diagnosed the problem with the grill ignitor. He did not have a replacement on the Truck and ordered one. He returned the next Wed. and finished the repair quickly. He also did a quick tune-up of the grill and it cooks much better, The charge for the repair was as estimated and very very reasonable. I would highly reccomend using All American Appliance for your service needs.

Found them on AL on Saturday and called to make an appt. Was able to make an appt for the following Monday, but was called back within an hour. I had the rare luck of getting an appt that day as another scheduled appt was running late and the tech was left sitting. Since I was in the area they asked if I could do the appt right away. I was stoked since I had a ton of laundry to do and would rather do it over the weekend rather than hold off until the work week. Tech was there inside of 20min. Fixed the washer within 30 min. I was able to continue washing my clothes within 2 hours of calling them. I'm sure not everyone will be so lucky to fit into the schedule like I was able to, but that's not all there is to them. The tech, Matt, was great. Clean, efficient, professional. Performed the work quickly, cleaned up after himself, and put everything back the way he found it. No extra charge for Saturday work and I found the pricing reasonable. Will definitely use them again!

I called All American on a Friday to get a price on repairing my gas range, and the lady on the other end was very helpful. She answered my questions and set my appointment. One very important note here, I asked about the $49 service call. I asked if this would be added to the repair cost, I was told no, but there was coupon on Angie's List that would cover it. Great info, I received a call when the tech was on his way, he was very nice and did a quick diagnoses and provided a cost of $168 for the repair. I was good with the cost and the repair was done in about 20 min. He was on his way and so was I, Great job!

On Sunday, the washing machine started it's cycle by filling the tub and then stopped. It appeared that the dial knob (timer) was broken. Couldn't get it to start back up on any setting. Selected All-American Appliance Service from Angie's list. Called just before 8 am and they said that they would be there between 12 and 5 that afternoon. The technician would call before coming. Technician called just before 4 to say he was on his way. Once he got here, it went very quickly as it was small switch plus wires and not the timer. It probably only took him about 15 minutes. Based on where the switch and wires were located, it was not something I would have attempted or even figured out on my own. Angie List coupon saved us on the $49 service charge.
