Air Care

Heard about this business when they called my home advertising specials for air duct cleaning services. Needing the service anyway, I followed up a few days later to see if i could get an estimate. The first day I was told I could get a rep to come to my house the following day and was told they'd call back same day to confirm the time. Call never came. The following day, I called again to confirm the time that day and a new person took the call. She had no record of my previous days call, and said she'd check and call me back within the hour. After receiving no call, I called back three hours later and was told she was waiting for her boss to come in. I then asked how difficult should it be to schedule a person to come to my home (for an estimate that I was paying for), and if I should look elsewhere for this service. That's when I was advised by the attendant that I should probably look elsewhere. Surprised, I asked her if they were a business, and she said yes. And I said I guess I'll go somewhere else. She asked how I'd heard of Air Care, and I told her through their phone call to me the previous week. Overall, the experience was very frustrating. This business appears to be very unorganzed and willing to leave customers hanging, and has no problem telling them to go away. That's all I needed to hear. I don't have time to waste on businesses that are not interested in dealing with potential customers. If they can't handle front end of the transaction, I don't want them in my home.

This company contacted my by phone and normally I don't respond to calls of this sort but I needed my ductwork cleaned and the price seemed reasonable. They made an appointment, contacted me the day before to confirm and again just before the technicians arrived. The lady I spoke with on the phone was very pleasant and the techs arrived as scheduled. Everything went downhill from there. I walked the technician thru the house locating all of the vents. Before the first vent was cleaned I was informed that I would need addtional service and of course the price went up. I instructed them to do only the work for which I was quoted and the tech became rude and condescending telling me that it was too bad if I was having a bad day but this is what they needed to do. If I didn't agree to the additional service I would wind up having to replace all of my ductwork. I let him know that my day was just fine and that I would pay only for the work quoted on the phone and if he didn't want to do that they could pack up and leave, to which he responded that I would be billed regardless. After I made it clear that I would not pay unless the work was performed, "as quoted" and that I did not appreciate his bait and switch approach they proceeded to clean the vents. I know they didn't clean all of them and they did not check the furnace which was also supposed to be part of the service. When the technician presented me with the bill he did apologize for "getting off on the wrong foot" as he put it but he did not sound very sincere. I refused to sign the portion of the bill which stated that I approved the additional work recommended and also the portion that stated that I was satisified with the work. I contacted the company by email after the workers left and complained about the scare tactics and the quality of service and I have given them 4 days to respond before submitting this most unsatisfactory report. I don't know how companies like this stay in business. They have no consciense or ethics and it's obvious that they don't care if the customer is satisfied or not. I give them a big F.
