A M F Electrical

AMF installed two electrical outlets. The first time I attempted to use them, neither worked. I went to some trouble to check the circuit breaker and both sub panels, the GFIs on both outlets, and even asked a friend with a voltage tester to check them. All signs indicated that no power was reaching the outlets. Finally, I called AMF who told me to check the GFIs on the outlets. So I checked them again. Thereafter, AMF sent an electrician who discovered that there was a “hidden additional GFI” (electrician’s words, not mine) on the side of one of the subpanels that affected none of the other circuits in the breaker— *only* the two outlets that had been installed by AMF. Had the outlets not been installed by AMF or had the AMF electrician who installed them advised me that they were controlled by a “hidden additional GFI,” then this would have been my misfortune and I would’ve been responsible for the charges associated with it. But AMF did install the outlets and they were therefore AMF’s responsibility. Nevertheless, I paid $160 for 20 minutes of an AMF electrician’s time to come to my house. When I called and asked the owner to stand behind his company’s work, offering to pay part of the bill even though it was absolutely not my responsibility, he told me that $160 is AMF’s “minimum.” End of story. I understand that AMF has an excellent reputation but I can’t attest to it given that the first and only time I tried to use those outlets, they didn’t work. The fact that the company charged me $160 for its own mistake added insult to injury.

The actual work overall went well. The 2 service persons they sent were great! Ontime/Early, super communicative, did everything we asked for, even last minute checks on things we forgot to mention at first and they didn't complain at all. Very accommodating! My reason for a "C" under Responsiveness was due to the person sets up the bids- Don. I called to set up bid for service & I didn't get a callback. So I made the effort to try again and got him directly. Don was really helpful and was able to give me a bid over the phone for our the electric panel work we needed. All I did was text him fotos which was great. I heard such good things about AMF that I decided to hire them right then. My disappointment/reason for lower response score was I asked him for a rough estimate/bid to be emailed to me so that I know we are on the same page. I never got anything from despite multiple requests. I also contacted him again to make sure that he knew exactly what we were asking for and to confirm the date he would send workers out. I still didn't hear anything. Finally, after I contacted a 3rd time saying "hey would you plz let me know you got my message" THEN I gotta text saying he did & all was on schedule.... but still no bid/email with info... Other than that initial frustration... all went well & as expected.

They did a great job. They were prompt and professional.

Overall it was a good experience with a couple hickups. Cotton Hunter was my sales guy. He's funny and a little bit of a spaz. He beat my best price so he got the job. Installer was good (I opted for the higher quality breaker box) but he forgot to install the whole house surge protector. They came back and fixed that. After a week or so I realized that they didn't install 20 amp GFCI outlets but rather 15 amp outlets. These are not compatible with higher amperage devices because the outlet is slightly different. I emailed Cotton but never heard back. I finally called and talked to him about the outlets. He said no worries and that someone would be out ASAP to replace. This was the case but what annoyed me was he asked if I knew what the 20 amp outlets were for. It was somewhat insulting. Overall, I think they are a high volume company with lots of experience and a good formula/business model.

They give a free estimate, which I like, and they do not cut any corners.

They were prompt and professional. Did great work. Well priced based on multiple bids. Very pleasant experience. I had them bid some other projects that we decided on holding off on. But when we are ready I will definitely call Joe Weir at AMF Electric.

I had them come over at my mother's house, and I told them that I wanted to put a heater, and so if they could put a line for me, because it kept shorting off. He came and said that the line on one side was not overloaded at all, while the line on the other side had it's full amount of our electrical plugins. He told us just to plug our heater onto the other side. I am sure another electrical company would have just come and put another line because that is what we wanted. They are always on time, they are super nice, and very reasonable. Their bid was lower than anybody else's. They were prompt, and their people are very nice, and honest. They will not do additional work that is not needed. He saved me a lot of money. They were going to be a few minutes late, and they called and said they would be late. I highly recommend them.

We needed a significant amount of work done to pull an occupancy permit and get a home listed for sale. Cotton was professional, honest, respectful, and reliable. The people that came to work on the house after we accepted their bid were prompt, trustworthy, and timely. We received our approval from the city within 24 hours. They were priced incredibly fairly. This is after receiving a couple other bids. Will use them again in the future!

I had contacted several contractor and AMF not only provided helpful suggestions but were very competitively priced. They were prompt each morning and cleaned up after they were through for the day. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done in their home.

We were able to get an appointment and estimate right away however, it took a more than a week for them to get back to me and schedule the work. They do pull permits with the county, and provide lien waivers upon request. The electrician who performed our work was prompt, and efficient. He introduced his self and told me how long it would take. He ran a temporary line into the house so that I could use my home computer while he worked. He completed the work in the timeframe that he indicated. Everything was cleaned up nicely. He showed me the work he completed, and explained the next steps; AmerenUE would come and complete the final connections at their convenience. An appointment with UE was not required since it was exterior work. I recommend A M F Electrical for your electrical needs. I would use them again.

The job took 2 and a half days. The technician was on time every day. He was very polite and listened to what we needed and he used the outline of the cabinets and gave great suggestions for over head lights to give us the best results. On the 2nd day Dan brought Tim with him. Tim was learning the trade and Dan was giving him on hands learning. They worked well together, Dan not only did his job well but he also taught Tim in depth what was being done and why. They cleaned up after themselves and always explained to us what had been done that day. I would use this company again and hopefully get Dan and Tim.

Responded quickly. Came out and fixed promptly. Was happy to find someone able to do a small job so quickly.

I like to use AMF because they are familiar with the peculiarities of older construction. I called and spoke with the customer rep I've known for years, Joe. We arranged for the electrician visit. I did not have to be there bc it was all outside work. New electrical boxes were installed at the location of existing ceiling lamps, new lamp fixtures installed, and a branch circuit run inside the porch ceiling from one of the boxes to a new box for a ceiling fan. A new ceiling fan was installed. The workmanship and appearance was excellent and I have had no problems. I provided the two new fixtures and the fan. AMF provided all the other material.

AMF rarely had any loose connections. They always did a great job and never left a mess.

They are good. They are prompt to schedule. They did the job at my schedule request. They gave me a discount because they lost the billing address and I had to call them to ask them to send me a bill. The quality of the work was good.

My furnace kept shutting off several days ago and the furnace company diagnosed the problem as a faulty circuit breaker. I was desperate for the heat to be back on and didn't know which electrician to call. The furnace repair man was reluctant to give me names but finally did and AMF was one of them. When I called and explained the urgency, the person answering the phone told me he could have someone at my house in about 1.5 hours. The person they sent was very helpful and explained why the breakers in a relatively new box (5-6 yrs old) would be damaged by moisture and explained that the installer of the box didn't insulate the connects well enough. I plan to have some additional work done and am pleased to have found a good electrician/company that I will definitely use again.

Overall, the experience went great. They were early. They were supposed to arrive at 7.30, but the gentleman arrived at 7 a.m. He sat outside and waited and knocked on the door about 7.20. He was a little early, but I would rather have early than late. He was very knowledgeable too. We talked over some options about the exhaust fan. He could have spent more of my money, but he did not. When he actually did his work, it was very clean. I told him he did beautiful work. He also cleaned up after himself. I thought the price was a little high though.

The work was to be done first thing in the morning a day earlier, but the tech. was running late or something. I called the company and they said they could get someone out to me in the afternoon. Some of us have jobs were we can take the entire day off. So they set up a appointment for the next morning. The technician arrived on time and was friendly. The job required him to cut into the ceiling to install a support rod. He laid down a cloth to catch debris. He did the job in about 1:45. If there was a concern with the appearance of something or something he needed to do to make something work, he would ask for my approval. I have had many contractors just do it and tell you after the fact that's what they had to do. When he was done, he cleaned up fairly well, although he used my vacuum to finish off. Overall I am very satisfied with this company. I would use them again.

Bob from AMF arrived checked everything out, showed me what was wrong and explained what probably occurred. He then replaced the main breaker switch in less than an hour.

When I called them they were very professional in every way. The guy was prompt, on time, and efficient. He did his job well.

I selected 3 contractors from the List to provide bids for the work. I met each contractor on site to survey the work to be performed. All provided bids, with slight variations on the proposed work. AMF provided the lowest bid, had uniformly good reports on the List, a clean BBB record, were located relatively close to the job site, and could start within two days. The journeyman and apprentice team arrived on time and discussed with me just what they were going to do. Both were polite and ready to get to work. Work was completed an hour ahead of schedule, with minimal interruption of power. The electrician called me twice to inform me of progress.

We were very pleased with AMF. Very professional and even suggested good modifications to what I thought we needed.
