I attempted to remove my old well pump myself. After two days and 200 feet of steel pipe it turned to PVC. 15 feet later the pump got lodged in the casing, would not go up or down. After doing everything I could to try to get it out I started calling multiple well companies. After explaining the problem every company had the same solution. Knock the pump back into the well and set a new one on top, if there was room. If not, SOL. Ray's starting price was less than half of what everyone else quoted, which made me wonder about quality of service, but it didn't take long after he got here to stop wondering. Him and his son Adam arrived a few hours after I called, 2 hours before they said they would be here, ready to go. They lowered 70 foot of pipe down the hole before they knocked the old pump free. Knowing there was still 70 feet of pipe attached to the pump meaning there was not much chance of putting a new pump on top of it he then took a piece of pipe big enough to fit around the pump and cut it right there so that the end was in the shape of a funnel and lowered that 300 foot into the well to try to "fish" it out and he did. The only reason he got it out was because of his home made fishing device that he made for my specific problem and his expertise. I really don't think more than a handful of companies would have gotten the old pump out and I may have had to take a loan out for a new well to be drilled. Instead he charged me 500 for the 4 hours of work, less than everyone else quoted just to come out. Because I did not want anything else to go wrong I had him install the new pump. When it was all hooked up it was found that there was a leak in the back yard and no water in the house. Turns out that when I was bracing the pump and 270 foot of pipe it put so much weight on the ground above the water main it busted the pipe. I dug the pipe up in about an hour and Ray and his son came back out first thing the next morning and replaced that broken pipe at no cost. Not even charging for the extra materials they had to use or the extra hour the spent at my house. Today I have water and grateful that Pelton Pump company was listed here. I can't say enough about Ray and Adam, they are good people looking to run a fair business without ripping people off.
