The whole process went perfectly. Mike was very professional and worked with us installing outlets in some very difficult to get to areas. His knowledge and experience always helped us make smart decisions on placement of outlets, wire runs and junctions. He ran new wiring to several areas and installed circuit breakers as needed to guarantee adequate power and protection for our two heavy duty microwave ovens. My wife and I appreciated Mike's positive and caring attitude to complete the job to our total satisfaction. If we weren't happy, he wasn't happy. Out of all the upgrades we made to the kitchen, including cabinets, flooring, plumbing, sink, counter top and island, my wife was the most thrilled about the additional outlets in all the right places.
Description of Work: During our kitchen remodel in our fifty five year old house, Weiss Electric added and upgraded every outlet, including new service to the cabinets on the kitchen island supporting two microwaves and other small appliances.

Mike met with us to go over our needs and was very helpful in offering more cost-effective options than we had received from other service providers. Mike arrived promptly on time on scheduled day and finished up the following day. We discussed a few changes with him that we had decided since our initial meeting. He was very accommodating about making the changes and agreed the price would be reduced accordingly. We noticed our low voltage lights weren't working, so tried to re-set/set the transformer and lights still didn't come on. We had additional work being done to soffit under our deck and needed Mike to come back right away to help us figure out why the lights weren't working before the soffit work covered all the wires. He responded and arrived with time to spare to trouble-shoot the problem. All was resolved and lights working due to a wiring configuration put in place by previous owner. We would use Weiss Electric again.
Description of Work: Work performed on our deck: Removed an unneeded electrical box; ran wiring for 2 GFI outlets on our deck; installed 2 light fixtures and on/off switch; re-located transformer for deck low-voltage lighting.

The gentlemen from Weiss Electric arrived promptly and were very nice and efficient. They added a new pendant light and switch over my island and had a few extra minutes to look at another light I was having issues with. I already had all the supplies they needed so they didn't charge me anything. He noticed that my new switch was white where the other 2 in the box were almond and donated two switches for free. Nice work. I would definitely use them again.

When Mike Weiss arrived he seemed very agitated. I completely stopped what I was doing to accommodate even though I had him scheduled for later that day. Mr. Weiss proceeded to appear agitated and was very careless with his tools inside of the house and around the furniture. Long story short; Mr. Weiss conjured up excuse after excuse to avoid any project that would entail material cost for some reason. I finally asked him to look at a couple of ceiling fans that we're not working properly. While asking my wife to "get me so I could help" on the first fan, he decided to put one of his tools on our glass kitchen table. I stopped what was doing again only to watch him talk on his cell phone for at least 10 minutes. He tried his hardest to leave without completing the two small tasks. He then came into my office and requested that I stop working again and to grab my ladder to assist him for about an hour. Mr. Weiss complained about not making any money from Angie's List non-stop.
Description of Work: Re-wired two ceiling fans.

Response from WEISS ELECTRIC LLC
I arrived at [Member name removed]'s house for a coupon purchase. He complained bitterly about a contractor remodeling his basement ,which was still in work. He wanted me to relocate and rewire the lighting another electric company wired. Its under contract and another electric companies permit.I told him I cant rewire that under another companies permit. It is illegal and unethical.he would have to take that up with them,I am sorry. that seemed to upset him. then he showed me his stereo equipment. He said someone told him its heavy duty and needs to be wired to 220 volts.I looked at it. It was a 120 volt plug in system,220 volts would instantly fry it I guarantee it.I told him I wouldn’t wire it to 220 volts because I don’t want to be responsible for damaging his equipment. That made him mad also.I said the coupon was for 2 ceiling fan/light fixtures that didn’t work.I repaired, installed missing parts and hardware, and rewired both fan/lights that he had put up himself.his wife was appreciative and thanked me saying it was nice to have them working properly.I am sorry it didn’t work out for him. Thanks, Mike Weiss

Excellent service provider. I called Weiss Electric with a problem where my main 200A breaker was arcing and sparking, casuing me to lose half of the electric in my home. I explained that it arcing and I was worried about an electrical fire. Mr. Weiss went out of his way to help me find a breaker to replace myself, then offered to rearrange his schedule the next day to replace the breaker or replace the 30 year old main service panel in the event the service panel was damaged from the arcing breaker. We agreed he would arrive in the morning to install the breaker. When he arrived early the following morning, he showed me the breaker panel was damaged and he proceded to replace it with a new one. Mr. Weiss and his son teamed up: one went to procure the needed parts while the other removed the damaged box. After the box was installed and wired, the wireing actually looked nicer (wire layout and arrangement) than the original one installed when the house was built. The job site was cleaned up after the job was complete. They then proceded to label every breaker in the panle, a luxury that I didi not have with the original box. They even installed a spare breaker in the event I wanted to add a circuit later. I couldn't be happier with the work, the price, the quality and the service they provided. I had lights flickering and dimming for several months and feellike that problem is solved now and I dont even mind having spent the money for the new breaker service box. I got my money's worth and couldn't be happier.overheated

Things went great with Mike. I first looked up Mike and Weiss Electric on Angie's list. Since he hadn't officially "joined" and paid their preferred placement fee he was not at the top of the list, but I was looking for someone close with positive ratings and comments. What attracted me to Weiss Electric was seeing that their cost per hour was actually quoted in their listing. At $45/man hour I could first calculate the general costs in my head before contacting. I sent a message through Angies List.......and didnt get a response. Not sure if this was because he hadn't "joined" yet but simply could be for another reason...which is a pet peeve of mine. I later learned that even though Weiss has their own Web page, he very seldom checks email because he is so busy. So my pet peeve....if you don't check email don't list it or list and say...please call because I don't check this often. Anyway, once I learned that using the phone was the best way to go, everything went smoothly. He and his crew know their stuff and efficiently spent their time getting things done. I was very happy with the job completed and would definitely recommend him to others. I am currently working on a new list to get him back out again. Call him..don't email.
Description of Work: I had Mike do a list that had been created over the last year and a half that I had been here. Upgrading lights and power to garage shop. Changing light switches to dimmers. Establishing electric service underneath kitchen sink, adding a remote control to a fan, adding lights to my basement.

Because an exact replacement was no longer manufactured, he ordered a compatible coil that required metalwork on our furnace to accommodate it. This added about $200 to the cost, and I believe it took longer than estimated because there was almost no working space around the furnace. Nevertheless, it was done on-time for the estimated cost, plus he saved and re-used the refrigerant added on the first visit, so we were not charged for more refrigerant. It has worked flawlessly.||I couldn't have asked for a better response and outcome. There was never pressure to replace the unit, although of course we discussed it as an option when considering a $1000 repair on a 20+-year-old unit. Not only that, but we have "zoned" heating and cooling--a fancy word for having two furnaces and A/C units. So it is easy to imagine a conversation about replacing both now for a great deal, etc. But this never happened. Weis sent an experienced and polite service technician, not a salesman. I will call them for any future needs, for sure.
Description of Work: The technician called about 30 min prior to arriving to confirm that he was on his way. He diagnosed a leak in our 20-year-old air conditioning coils, refilled the refrigerant to keep us cool for a couple of seeks, and ordered replacements.

Mike and an apprentice returned to install an outlet for a lighted mirror for the master bath. They brought up the wires from the basement and ran into a fire wall. Mike went out and bought a special tool to get through the firewall. Mike also mounted the mirror on the wall. One extra item, Mike noticed that a mirrored switch plate was loose. He removed it and replaced the spacers that our builder's electrician had done carelessly. Mike is pleasant and I would very much recommend him for any work.
Description of Work: Mike Weiss came out in early Sept to give me an estimate for an outlet installation in a difficult location in the master bath. It was going to require a GFI outlet that was going to need to have the wires run from the basement up to the bathroom. Mike was honest when he said he was not sure what he would run into when he fed the wires through from the basement. I had to leave town so we scheduled a date for two weeks later.
