I called Bryan on Monday morning, June 3rd and described the problem. I told him I knew it was just a little thing, but didn't want anyone else mucking about in my beautiful kitchen so asked if he'd fix it for us. His answer, as always, was, "Yes." Understand, he did not ask HOW it came loose or if it was our fault or his fault or the grandkids' fault. He just said, "Yes," and said he'd call me as soon as he could to set up a chance to come over one morning and take care of it.
I didn't want anyone else to do it, so I didn't ask for a cost estimate - I knew he or Mark would do it right and the price would be fair and I wanted it done right!
He called one week later and asked if he could come by between 8 and 8:30 this morning (Wed.) We agreed and, typically, he was knocking on the door a little past 8. My "little-bitty" repair took him about 45 minutes and, of course, it looks perfect.
And when we asked how much we owed him, the answer was, " Nothing. We always want to take care of any issues with any of our projects." Mind you, he never did ask us how it came loose.
I urge anyone considering a remodeling job to talk to New Transitions before you decide.
"I emailed the proposal to [member name removed] on 5/23/2013 before I left my office that morning. I have the proposal docimented as i always do when i email anything. I do not understand whyb [member name removed] did not receive and why the unbelievable rating with out at least a phone call. We did everything as requested by this member by showing up on time for the initial appointment at his home to emailing the proposal promptly after. I wil be contacting [member name removed] today to see what whent wrong and do apologize if he did not receive. Sincerely, Bryan Ousley"
"I remember the Customer..He left a message on our answering machine but failed to leave a return phone number.?. I tried to call back several caller ID numbers but had no success. I am very sorry if and when he tried to call us again we did not respond. I had his name on a lead form for over a month sitting on top of my desk hoping to receive an opprotunity to speak with him. I am very sorry the Customer felt a F grade was suitable and not giving us a chance to at least speak to one another. We would be more than happy to review his projects if they still have not been completed. Thank you. Bryan Ousley"
1) There were some awkward moments during our initial meeting (I simply asked the representative, Bryan, if installing crown molding in an additional room along with the above mentioned projects now would give us a better deal than doing it as a single project in the future. Bryan said he does not give deals as he has lots of clients and he does not wait for phones to ring. Good for him, but I thought his response did not make business sense because doing it now would save him additional trip to my house and possibly he could get a slight discount on the price/sqf of the crown molding when he purchases more of it.)
2) During our initial meeting, I asked Bryan to send us an itemized bid with as much detail as possible so that I can compare it to the bids from other contractors. I followed up with him one week after our meeting. He informed me that he only works on bids during the evenings and it will take two weeks to prepare our bids. Bryan eventually sent me the bid and it contained no details at all. The bid simply lists the name of the projects and the cost to perform it. Just to give you an example, our kitchen remodel includes moving the cabinetry around to accomodate new appliances; replacing the kitchen island with a new one and bring a gas line to the island for the new cook top and installing vent above the cooktop as well as installing new countertops throughout the kitchen. Instead of providing us with the price of each, he simply gave us a number for the whole project and that price did not even include the cost of countertops, which is a major cost for the kitchen project. I sent him an e-mail to get more details and an itemized bid, but have not heard from him yet and I really do not have time to wait anymore as it already has been three weeks since our initial meeting.
3) New Transitions estimate is almost twice as much as of those of other companies'. As I have not received any details, I do not know if they have a good justification for their relatively high prices. All I know is the other companies, all of them are BBB accredited and Angie's List Super Service Award winners for multiple years, gave me very detailed and competitve bids so we decided to hire one of those companies for our projects.
"Its a shame when someone gives a report such as this. The customer provided a list of potentially 8 plus seperate projects. The itemized list given to us by the customer was priced assuming no specific styles and/or brand names. We were asked to give and estimate upon our initial meeting. I don't know how to itemize any further without having specific brands This being said, we estimate on averages until a specific style/brand is chosen. I explained that is how the estimate would be done until those variables were chosen. In regards to the granite for the counter tops there are literally hundreds of colors all having there own seperate price... I explained at the initial meeteing I could not give a price until a color would be given. The statement about waiting for phone to ring I do not understand??!! I was actually asked that if they were to add additional crown would I give them a "deal". we price every job on square foot, lineal foot and product cost, I tried to convey that we don't make "deals" as we feel it is fair to only price each project as previously stated.I feel it is very unffair a customer to give such a report after only meeting for one hour and try to judge us and miss quote what I had said. As it states hopefully more weight is given to customers who actually use us versus a customer who only spent one hour with us for a preliminary multple bid proposal. I wish them good luck on there contractor choice. Sincerely, Bryan Ousley"
Initially we were quite satisfied but later regreted hiring them.
"Unfortunately we have never heard from Member in regards to his dissatisfaction to our work. We removed a peninsula of ceiling cabinets and pieces of drywall were inserted (as anyone would do) but have no idea as to why they would show through after painting.. In regards to the faucet, when a pull out spray faucet is installed and it comes with a hose weight and slides effortlessly without the weight we opt to not use because the fact that the weight actually causes (in some cases) more leaking and tangling problems with the plumbing below when hitting it while retractin in and out. In fairness to us we never have been contacted by him to address any issues to date. We would have gladly addressed any and all problems as we have with any of our clients. It saddens me that we did not get a chance to speak to him and make any and all corrections. Sincerely, Bryan Ousley"
From the beginning Bryan was so patient and kind during my "indecisive" process, helping the whole way through. Both Bryan and Mark were always polite, attentive and really quite charming. I live alone and had no problem from day one leaving them alone with a key while I went to work. I have no doubt they didn't work the whole day through.
Bryan and Mark found some structural issues within the sub-flooring of part of my kitchen ( Dad! : ) ) I honestly thought the floor felt kind of squishy. They tore the total subfloor out and replaced it the proper way at a very fair price considering it cost them an extra days labor and more materials. They did extra little jobs not connected to the kitchen which save me soooo much time and hassel...which means a lot!
I could go on and on but will just say I'm a huge fan of New Transitions! They made it easy for me, left the place unbelievable clean and organized... insanely ( in a good way) so....every day! I now feel safe and comfortable in my new kitchen!! Thanks guys!!!
Each day they appeared and went immediately to work having the supplied and tools needed for the task. They were also, kind of amazingly, able to contain the debris and dust such a project generates.
They were also always personable and very willing to stop and explain or answer any questions ( which were few ) about the project.
The finished product is exactly what we had pictured and, in fact, Bryan made suggestions which improved our vision.
Any future project of this nature we might attempt, these will be our go to guys.
