HARVESTER SMALL ENGINE

Poor service and communication. Took over a month to resolve the problem. And still not 100% correct

Dale the service manager needs to learn manners and customer service skills. I took my mower to be serviced last fall at the end of the season and did not use it again until this season when I discovered the cable to release the engaged blade was damaged. I have NEVER had an issue with this until they worked on my mower so the damage occurred in their care. Dale was not only disrespectful in his interaction with me, he likened my mower to a "car losing its muffler after an oil change". I do not fold the handles for transport so the only time the damage could have occurred was while at this shop. SO, not only did he refuse to fix their mistake, he condescendingly insisted that I could not prove it was their fault. I am aware that the business has an opportunity to respond to this complaint, but my advice to anyone reading this is to take your business elsewhere if you want to be treated with respect and like the paying customer you are.

I went in a couple of days before i bought the mower to look at what they had. A guy in parts came out to show it to me. Their salesman was busy at the moment. He was very helpful showing me the mower, how it worked and the features. The whole process was very good. There was a mechanical problem with the mower that was not the fault of Harvester Small Engine. They fixed the problem the very next day. Overall it was a great experience.

Harvester Small Engine repaired (replaced) both of the above for a reasonable charge. They are clearly very experienced, their hours are convenient (including all day Saturday), and they are near to my home. Only drawback is that they are a very busy outfit, so repair work may have to wait in queue. I had my repair done off-season, so it didn't matter that it took 2 weeks. In-season the wait may have been longer and inconvenient.

Brake and Transmission problem on my Lawn tractor. I called around and they were open on Saturday afternoon (many other service providers were not). As well as being close to my home, they were able to service my Husqvarna even though they do not carry the brand. I went to ask them about it and they were experienced and reasonable. There was a wait for service due to backlog (a good indication of their popularity), but I was willing to wait. They were willing to put me in the queue even though I did not plan to deliver my tractor until 6 days later. Called me in 5 days to let me know they were ready. I was not in town so could not deliver the tractor until the end of the next day. They were willing to work with me and this did not result in any delay in my service. Repaired my tractor after checking with me to confirm diagnosis and repair projection. Actual repair cost was less than estimate!

They called and told me after they had serviced it that the crank shaft was bent. When I first brought it home a nail dropped out of the bottom, which was odd. It only worked once and has not worked since. I would have appreciated them telling me that there was not much they could do to make it any better than just replacing the filters and whatnot. I had to pay for the service then pay for a new mower.
