The lawn looks very good and the front landscaping looks nice but all of the trees have died (or are dying.) They did replace a Colorado blue spruce that didn't survive the first winter but the Vanderwolf pine didn't survive the last winter and the other blue spruces are rapidly dying. The October Glory maple they planted (apparently, it's actually a sugar maple) is also in bad shape according to another tree service that I hired. Since all trees only had a one-year warranty and it had run out, I hired a tree service listed on our city's "recommended list" to try to save them. Looks like all of the original trees planted in the fall of 2013 will probably be gone by the Spring 2016.

The contractor arrived day of service with a crew of individuals ready to work. The crew began their work by tearing out all of the deteriorated railroad ties. They then came out about 2 feet from the existing wall and dugout a base. Their work was very precise and detailed ensuring that everything was level. The wall was approximately 90-100 feet long. Excellent quality of stones were used Versaloc stones. Drainage system was put in behind the stone wall to ensure sufficient drainage. Wall was completed in about 4 days. Excellent workmanship! I would highly recommend this contractor and will use him again for our next job!

I contacted this company for our landscaping projects via e-mail last Saturday. Mr. Watson replied to my e-mail the next day and told me he could meet with me this Wednesday or Thursday and asked about my availability those days. I responded back and told him that I was available on Wednesday between 9am and noon. I followed up with him on Tuesday to find out if he was going to show up on Wednesday. He did not reply so I contacted him again via text message on Wednesday around 10am. He replied and said he will let me know soon. Around 11:30am, he sent me an e-mail and said he was not going to make it on Wednesday and asked me if we could meet on Thursday at noon. I replied and confirmed the meeting. On Thursday, he did not show up at noon so I sent him another text message to find out if he was coming to our meeting. Mr. Watson replied back and told me he completely forgot about the meeting and asked me if we could meet the next day. As you can imagine, I thought that he was not interested in our projects and I refused to schedule another meeting. He replied back and told me that he forgot because he was extremely busy. I do not accept that excuse. Everybody is busy and yet they still attend to their scheduled meetings or at least let the other party know in advance if for some reason they can not go to the meeting. Based on this experience, I decided that Mr. Watson is not the right person for our projects. Thanks for reading.

I was very surprised with how quickly I was provided with a quote for the work to be performed and then how quickly it was completed from my initial call to the company it was less than 3 weeks for the work to be completed. The crew was very friendly and personable and the owner was very punctual and helpful in providing ideas for the fire pit kit and burying the downspouts to empty in a French drain already in place. I wouldn't hesitate to call again for any future work.

I had three people come out for estimates and I asked them for an estimate for a retaining wall and patio renovation. The first proposal was too high and the third proposal was priced better but the interaction with the provider felt haphazard with an estimate written on the back of a business card. Tom was the second estimate. What was particularly good about Tom's estimate was him stating the patio didn't really need to be replaced, it could just have a good cleaning and would look fine. This is the third project I've done with Tom and he seems to understand I am most concerned with function and cost. Certainly the patio could be made to LOOK better but Tom recognized that was not my personal need. I just wanted need and clean. I was in no rush to have the work done so although the estimate was made in July I was in no rush. This allowed Tom to fit it in when it worked for him since it was a very small job. I was notified the day before the work began and it was completed in two days. Work supplies, tools and such were left on location overnight. If someone is a stickler for perfect clean up at the end of each working day they might want to stipulate that but I don't use the area for anything so it didn't matter. The final wall is neat, all materials left over from the disassembled wall were left neatly stacked for my future use. I was very happy with the results and will definitely call Tom for an estimate and consideration on future projects.

I previously had Tom create a river of stone for my front garden bed and he did an amazing job, it was exactly what I wanted. This time there seemed to be some communication issues. This was an exceptionally busy season for Tom and obtaining responses to my request for an estimate took some time. My guidance was to cut back the honeysuckle extending over from a neighbors yard (I had the neighbors permission for this), remove all honeysuckle beyond my visible tree line, re-edge the beds and mulch. The confusion came in on the removal of the honeysuckle. My expectation was that only the honeysuckle would be removed, instead all vegetation was removed including quite a few beauty berry plants and small saplings. It is now Sept 2015 and I just noticed I had not posted this review; although I had written it up. I just had Tom do some more work, for which I will write a review, so it's obvious my confidence in his ability has not wavered but I feel the good and the bad should be posted. Fully communicating and understanding a project is important.

It went very well. I'm very pleased with the work and the look.

The initial contact and walk through went great. After I received the first proposal, I asked for a revised one as I had changed my mind on a few things. The revision took a while, but after I received it, I was happy with it and accepted the contract right away. Due to understandable weather issues it took a month after accepting the contract to get the job started, but it only took two days. The workers cleaned up after themselves that first day so there wasn't anything to trip over mid-job which I greatly appreciated. The second day I stopped by on my lunch hour and the guys were professional and friendly. I'm keeping them on speed dial for other projects I have in mind for the future. Highly recommend them for any landscaping work. Tom Watson (owner) was even willing to give me (a very non-plant person) tips on what to do with my new landscaping.

Tom and his team were fantastic on this project, and Tom was extremely helpful with ideas for future work in both landscaping and hardscaping in the front yard. Working with Finishing Touch was such a good experience, particularly after having hired three entirely frustrating landscape companies (front yard redone twice, back yard once) who not only did not know what they were doing but were not professional in any sense of the word. Finishing Touch Landscaping is not only responsive, knowledgeable and professional to the highest level, but Tom is also extremely creative and talented. On this particular project, Finishing Touch did a great job prepping the yard and installing the zoysia sod and providing appropriate advice on how to maintaining the grass. I wholeheartedly recommend Finishing Touch Landscaping for any landscaping job, especially if you need great ideas to create curb appeal for your house.

Tom's crew finished the project in two days. The workmanship was excellent. The suggestions Tom made regarding the details of the design were spot on and reflected what we were looking for to bring out the front yard. We were very pleased with his easy manner and professionalism.

I had called several landscapers to get bids. Due to weeks of rain everyone was backed up. I had a budget and a very short timeline to get our house listed. Tom kept in touch with me and ended up bringing his crew 3-4 days earlier than scheduled. He went above and beyond to help take another project off our extensive list of chores we have to get this house listed.

Finishing Touch Landscaping did a wonderful and professional job - Tom and his crew are great and overcame some really bad weather (rain, rain, and more rain for the whole duration of the project) to achieve a beautiful look that went beyond my expectations. I had some basic designs sketched out and Tom took them and made them into a reality that much less expensive than I was led to believe by other estimates. The quality of the work and the product used is fantastic. Everyone worked as a team to create and clean up the site afterwards. I see no unfinished or damaged areas after inspecting thoroughly. The communication was great, which is very necessary in such a large project, and sometimes lacking. Whenever I had a question or comment, Tom responded in a very timely manner. Bottom line is that I would highly recommend Finishing Touch Landscaping and will use again on any future improvements to my landscaping!

I am a big fan of Tom. I thought Tom and his crew did an excellent job for a fair and reasonable price. It was a major project which include a large berm, a french drain and a smaller drain in our patio. Tom is smart guy and a problem solver. Out of several bids and other advice I received over the last couple years, Tom was the only one who took the time to understand the landscape and the drainage problem. For the amount of work performed, I thought Tom's pricing was fair and reasonable. Tom was responsive to my emails and phone calls and typically responded with 3-4 hours. The work was done within a couple days of when Tom promised (the delay was due to the rain). Tom was onsite to supervise the work and Tom's crew was very respectful to my family members. He did everything he promised and I would not hesitate to call Tom again. If you have a landscape - drainage issue this is the guy to call.

Tom was great to work with. I had contacted over 5 other landscape companies wanting to do Native Missouri planting. Tom was the only one who did not look at me like I had 3 heads, tell me it would look horrible and question why I would want that. Tom understood the importance of Native planting for our environment. His designer understood as well, so we sat down and worked it out. Karen did an awesome job. I knew what I wanted and they delivered. Tom worked well with me and my contractor with installing electrical, so happy! They showed up when they said they would, got busy, removed a tree and all existing planting, pavers, etc. The next day they finished. When the final planting was in, I decided to tweek it, I needed more, Tom happily got a couple more plants and his crew moved things around. Sometimes it is hard to visualize from a drawing, so this is normal. I loved how it turned out, very modern and no maintenance, thanks Tom, LOVE the native plants. See you in the fall to start on naturalizing my backyard for the BEES, HUMMINGBIRDS, and BUTTERFLIES. I would like to add, I had a new driveway put in and knew I needed sod and backfill, Tom took care of all of it. This was an add on sight unseen. Bravo!

We selected this company based on quantity of reviews and overall score. After selection, Tom came out to our home and surveyed our front yard area. He seemed extremely knowledgeable about landscaping, and was extremely confident that he could improve our front yard woes (badly needing colorful and well placed landscaping). He immediately identified several species that would work well in our sidewalk area that approaches the house. There were a couple more landscape areas that were in need of help as well in the front yard, and he made recommendations for those as well. All was very well communicated and I asked for a quote on what he had suggested. The next day I received the quote for the project (may have been two days) and I hired them by mailing in the 50% deposit. Later that next week, Tom and his team arrived. I walked out to greet Tom, who was busy already instructing his team on what to do. I said 'Ok, I guess we should go over everything to make sure we are all on the same page.' He surprised me by saying...'No, that's ok, we've got it.' I insisted that we go over everything again, and he seemed put off by that, but agreed. After I verified everything, I went inside and let them do their work. When the team came back the following day to finish, I noticed some of the plants were not visually spaced correctly (off by several inches and you could definitely tell...this was not being picky at all). I asked him about the alignment issue (had to call him on the phone because he never knocked on the door and had me look at the finished product to see if I was satisfied) and he said he would call his team that was already on site at my home, and have them straighten them out. I asked him why he didn't check with me to see if I liked everything, and again....he went back to 'well, usually people just let us do our thing.' When they were finished, I noticed that they had not placed mulch around some bushes on the corner of the home that they said they would do, so they had to send someone else out to finish a day later. Again...something that could have been avoided if someone would have just checked to see if we were happy with the results. So in short, Tom is a really good estimator and salesman, letting you know that everything will be taken care of (and truth be told, the man IS extremely knowledgeable about his craft). But ust don't get in his way by asking him to go over everything before he starts and finishes the job. He will get somewhat combative and make you feel like you are asking too much. At least that is how he made me feel. He will likely counter my review with an attack on me somehow, or that I was being unreasonable by asking him to adjust the plants so that they are evenly spaced. This company spends a lot of time rebuking negative reviews and takes time to mitigate any type of responsibility in each.

Project went very well. We decided to use Finishing Touch since our daughter and her husband used them successfully on a project. Crew was here for about a week and every time I looked outside they were busy. Very detailed in the correct placement of each brick.

Tom and his team came on time, completed the work in one day and did the work really well. We are happy with their service and will recommend them. Work Performed: Cleanup our backyard, remove wild-bushes, cleanup and plant grass seeds.

The work looks fantastic. Tom worked well with me to get scheduled before the cold weather and stayed on schedule even though the weeks prior had a lot of rain. I am literally contacting him again today to do some more work. Great company.

Just fine, but our yard is so large that the service didn't cover the entire yard.

Tom and his team removed an existing mish-mash of wood and brick decking/ patio in our central west end back yard. They then installed pavers and reworked the traffic flow to be more efficient between the garage, house and driveway spaces. Plantings were carefully selected and installed and consideration given to future plans for a hot tub, fountain and/or pergola to be added. Tom's team is extremely hard working and were on time every morning. They cleaned up after working and were always considerate of the family's comings and goings. I could not be happier with the new patio and absolutely love the plants selected by Tom's designer after we discussed my likes/dislikes/ and amount of work I am prepared to do to maintain the garden. After living with the patio for a few months, one area retains a puddle of water after rain. Tom is coming to fix that area (which was not immediately obvious right after the work was completed) once winter freeze/thaw is over and has been very diligent in being sure we are happy with his work. I would highly recommend Tom for any hardscape/ landscape project.

We had Tom Watson from Finishing Touch replace our Railroad Tie Wall with a Versa-lock Brick Wall. Tom was very punctual and professional. Tom?s quote was reasonably priced and offered suggestions and solutions to design and construction that other contractors didn't consider. His crew worked quickly and we were able to see immediate progress in just a few days after starting. Tom handled the interface seamlessly with all the inspections, and kept our job on track. We were on vacation for a few days at the end of the project and returned home to find what we consider to be a ?Masterpiece? in our finished wall. It far exceeded our expectations. The wall was beautifully constructed and exuded of craftsmanship. The yard was completely graded to account for water flow and was finished with new sod. It was beautiful. Needless to say we were very happy. Tom is a consummate professional in his field, pays strict attention to details, and is easy and personable to work with.

Purchased the coupon but no where was it stated there was a $1000 min. Kinda misleading would appreciate a refund

It was excellent. They were very professional, on time, and conscientious. The work was done very neatly. They are going to do landscaping for me in the spring.

Communication was poor at best. We left multiple messages. Some emails were answered, and some weren't. We contracted in July, and it took multiple calls from me in August to find we were scheduled for September. We didn't hear back the entire month of September, so I called to cancel the contract in October. They then said would come the next week. They said it would take four to five days, but it took ten days instead. It was very frustrating. At the end, one of our fenceposts was damaged during the work. Now we have to get that fixed. They also covered up one of our irrigation heads. So we have to have someone come out to fix that as well. They were supposed to show up at ten the first morning, and the owner didn't show up until after 11. So, they couldn't start work. And one day no one came at all; they didn't even call to let us know. At one point the dumpster had been sitting out so long that the police wanted to know who rented it so they could write them a citation. The owner responded to that email quickly enough. I would not recommend them at all to anyone.
