Description of Work: Art-tec did storm damage repair and upgraded our roof. Since they were the only approved dealer for our proprietary sun room we used them. They did give us a few upgrades that after insurance paid cost us very little. It did take many months to complete. This evaluation is a moot point however, since I believe this company is no longer in business.

+ -1 moreThe installation took several weeks longer than promised. After installation, we had leaks in the house whenever there were heavy rains. Called this contractor out several times when leaks were noticed. Their only response was to add caulk above where the roof was built. After this did not solve the problem had roof replaced and problem has been resolved. Obviously, roof was replaced by another contractor. Art-Tec should have either integrated new roof with existing roof so that problem would not have occurred or if they had any experience with this kind of installation advised me of possible leakage problems. I would never use Art-Tec for any other work on my house.

+ 2 moreBeing an insurance job the company charged more because of replacement cost. We commited to Artec thinking a contractor would be on site most of the time. Not the case, only saw when the salesman came to get a check. No quality assurance checks on the work performed. Then about half way through the job the salesman was termanated. After the wife put a complaint into BBB then and only then the company tried it's best to fix everything. The company even some how got the my phone # wrong. If I did not call them about this matter we may be still waiting for them to get back to us. I only hope other customers don't make the same mistake I made.
Description of Work: Replace roof, gutters, gutter guard, patio cover, siding on the garage and window casement. The roof was replaced using a mexican crew. The work was good until I got up on roof to check work. Thats when I noticed a few problems. Numerios nails were just laying on the roof, one nail protruding from shingle, one corner of siding where over the years tar was used to seal the edge was removed incorrectly. To make matters worse the crew tried to cover up mistake by putting a piece of flashing in its place and use an excessive amount of silcone. Tar paper was not installed to the edge of the back side of roof. The company tried to charge for materials that wasn't used. What the estimate and final amount for the roof was about $5,000 more. They charged for removal of old shingles and removal and reinstallation of satelite dish. Of course I had to pay Direct TV to get it working again. The siding was installed by a crew from Korea, wasn't so pose to do the front of garage however did but didn't have enough to complete the job. The siding ends at the bottom of the gutters without using any utility channel. These guys installed a switch cover wrong breaking it. Put a nail through the cable for internet service causing me to pay Charter to correct their mistake. Flashing wasn't installed around 1 window leaving exposed wood. The gutteres seemed to be ok now with a few problems fixed. The front gutters were dripping water behind the gutters and soffits An Artec employee came out and put a silicone bead to the top of the gutter. This fixed the problem of water leakage however I'm not sure if the gutters were installed behind the drip edge. That will be checked another day. The patio awning was installed alright except the hole for the down spouts were too small causing water to flow over the top. Water was leaking between the awning and flashing at the garage. A rain channel was installed to reroute rain water further down roof.

+ 1 moreOriginally contacted to shingle sun room roof since they represent company of original builder. We had hail storm with much damage and they gave us good deal on doing whole job we had out of town company for week in June and requested later start. The whole job was not completed until two weeks ago (mid-January). When they were here they worked quickly and competently. Admittedly, job took longer due to co-ordination with insurance company as there was items of higher cost than standard price (proprietary sun room roof, Leaf Guard gutters). But, there were long gaps when nothing got done, and no updates. Biggest head scratcher was front shutter replacement; measured at least 6 times, and replacement brought out 8" too short twice. The whole process was completed over a span of nine months. Way too long.
Description of Work: Hail damage. Replaced and shingle sun room roof, Replaced house roof. Replaced gutters. Replaced broken shutters. Repaired torn screens.

+ 0 moreThe initial response by Amber in the office of this company was very prompt and courteous. The owner of the company, Mr. Bollier came out to look at the roof in a very short period of time. He was very personable and nice to talk to. However, he didn't climb on the roof, was very non-specific about materials and procedures, and that was the last time I heard from him: no follow up, no estimate, no nothing. It was a waste of my time.
Description of Work: I requested an estimate for a complete asphalt roof teardown with potential re-decking, skylight and chimney repairs.

+ -1 moreI called Art-Tec Construction on 6/4 or 6/5 requesting someone come out to give me an estimate for building a sunroom. The lady on the phone was very nice and asked me for some additional information. We agreed on the day and time of when someone would come out to give me the estimate. The agreed date and time was 6/6/12 at 4 PM. She also provided me the name of the individual that would come out to give me the estimate as Doug. On 6/6, no one came. I didn't even get a phone call from Doug or anyone else at Art-Tec informing me that they would be late getting to my place. The first impression is always the most important and to me shows what I can expect if I am to use them for any type of service/project. I have to say that I was very much un-impressed with what I have seen so far from Art-Tec.
Description of Work: I was requesting an estimate for having a screened-in room built on an existing deck.

+ -1 moreWe were pleased with the service they gave us. They put the room up when it was 100 degrees. The workman worked extremely hard. Their price seemed to be less than other estimates we received for this particular kind of room. The workman seemed flexible. The salesman was great, he was straight-forward. They were willing to install a gutter that we wanted and would pay to have another company install the one we wanted. We have really pleased with the room.
Description of Work: They added on a sun room, glass but not heated, that is a fairly good sized room with a deck on the back.
