Description of Work: Our kitchen sink got clogged and I couldn't clear it. I called Newkirk on a Sunday evening and requested that he come to the house next day. He had just returned from vacation, but came to the house next morning to clear our kitchen drain. He let himself in with our hidden key, performed the work, and left a reasonable bill for the service. I trust the guy implicitly.

+ -1 moreMike was out of town the weekend I called him but returned my call as soon as he returned. He showed up that day, performed the necessary repair, and charged a reasonable amount. My makeshift water diversion was not working very well, so the basement would have flooded badly if he had not shown up.
Description of Work: Replaced a shutoff valve at the main water inlet into the basement.

+ 0 moreI called Mike on Wednesday and asked him if he could show up on Friday. He said had a full schedule but that he'd be at the house at 8 a.m. He showed up at the stroke of 8. He did a quick, professional job and was gone in less than 40 minutes. Parts and labor cost $74. A few weeks earlier, he came to repair our water heater. It took much longer to drain the heater, replace the malfunctioning part, then refill the heater and test it. His bill for parts and labor was $75. In the past, I have waited at the house to let him in. After dealing with him for several years, I have come to trust him. He's a local guy with roots in the community. In the future I will leave a key for him so that he can work at our place when it's convenient for him.
Description of Work: He removed a leaking valve from the cold water line that feeds our ice maker. Then he installed a new line from the cold water pipe and installed a new valve.

+ 0 moreIf I have a plumbing problem I would definitely call him again. There was something weird with the water softener and he came, looked at it and fixed it. I like to say that I have had positive experience with him over the last few years. Though I lived in a rental property, he came and fixed it in the rental property over ten years ago. So he has been in business for a while. He can always figure out what the problem is and fixes it.
Description of Work: I used Newkirk Plumbing & Softwater for plumbing at my old house. He also fixed a water softener in my new house about two years ago.
