Our house was three months delayed due to rainy weather and local flooding. Threatened us that if we did not close by June 15 we would be paying the builder's mortgage and interest payments. Told us the builder could move up the closing date with out our approval. Suggested we drive approximately 4 hours to get a cabinet estimate. Our allowance was not in the ballpark of this cabinet maker. Would not allow us to go with a less expensive alternative estimate that was more affordable. Instead had to go with a particle board type of cabinets for our $400,000.00 home. Robert B forgot to bid a third of the cabinets that were on the print. When this was realized we were told the cabinets were not drawn on the print when the print clearly shows drawings of the missing budded cabinets. Builder broke our contract making up a fictitious carpet allowance of $6,500. He ignored my carpet bid ordering his choice of carpet for our custom house ending up spending over $8,500. The flooring allowance was $12,000. I had two carpet quotes one for 8,700 another for 8,000 respectively. Builder did not allow us access to the home accept through an appointment through our Realtor which delayed access to the house. We were locked out when trying to deliver our purchased material for our home. We were locked out when supposed to follow through on painting. We had to sign forms for each action but still were locked out even though promised to have access to the home -the garage only. Everything we tried to do was sabotaged. We were made to look like we were causing the delays. We received long emails of made up deadlines and duties we needed to do. If not accomplished would receive consequences. If we tried to assert our rights we were meant with more unnecessary work and more unnecessary deadlines. We have had a few major plumbing problems with the house, and a long list of things to repair or fix or to catch up on because we had no ready access to the house for 2.5 months. We peered through the windows to check on things. We felt harassed. I was pregnant having premature labor concerns with my baby being born 4 weeks early. At times we could only deliver product during the day not having time at night to load up truck, I loaded up heavy tile to get it to the house on time. I could not rest or keep up with my dipping blood sugar levels. Builder's wife said my baby's health was not of her concern. My baby is suffering from neurological symptoms and is being treated as we speak. I have a daughter who is developmentally delayed and could not keep up with her home therapy due to meeting fictitious deadlines. My husband lost 20 pounds having trouble keeping up with the workload. My elder son's illness regressed and his treatment had to be suspended due to time constraints. I also had a double kidney infection and still had to meet their deadlines. The unneeded stress of the builder affected my family in many ways.
Description of Work: We signed a contract with builder in October of 2007 to be finished and closed by April 15th 2008. Our custom house was three months delayed due to weather and flooding challenges. Builder did the siding, framing, installing hard wood and tile flooring, installed windows, baseboards, door jams, installed the doors, excavation. Contracted cement, foundation, drywalling, painting, carpet installation, taping, roofing, brick work, plumbing, lighting etc. Was told that there was a second garage door opener. According to the print a second garage door was left out. Was told that it was installed when it was not.
