Dayl and Cindy were recommended to me by a co-worker. They returned my call quickly and were able to come the next day. Dayl first checked my A/C unit outside and gave it a thorough cleaning and checkup determining that it was in good shape (after cleaning). Then he turned his attention to the leaking in the basement. He made sure all the drains were clear and they stayed to make sure that everything was completely dried and no longer dripping.
Description of Work: I called about a leak around the condensation drains in the basement. I was also overdue for a checkup on my A/C unit.

TRUSTWORTHY AND GREAT TO WORK WITH! I always use Guiding Light for my home repair needs. They came highly recommended from a friend and have proven BEYOND helpful. Dayl and Cindy have always returned my phone calls promptly and given me great advice. I even call them when I'm not sure what the issue is - and they followed up with me when I called with a power concern that turned out to be a KCPand L issue - just to ensure my safety. Not only do I know I won't be overcharged, but I also know they won't judge me when I call in a heater noise and it turns out to be the water softener. As a single female homeowner I'm glad there's someone I can trust
Description of Work: I've called with different issues: 1. A/C wasn't blowing cold enough air - they refilled the freon and it worked great! 2. I thought my heater caused a power outage - turned out it was KCP&L repair - but they pointed me in the right direction and checked on me that evening! Good thing considering the outside temp was 17 degrees 3.. I thought my furnace was making odd noises. Turns out it was the water softener right next to it. But Dayl serviced the furnace for me and gave me good advice on keeping in maintained. FYI: He also recommended a WONDERFUL plumber when I had toilet concerns! Can you tell I call him for everything?

Their price was well under what someone else was going to charge us. They save us almost $1300.00. He really took his time and devided the outlets outside for when my husband set up all of the Christmas lights. We no longer have to worry about the lights going off. They are ver nice and I would recommend them to anyone. My husband was very impressed with the quality parts they used.
Description of Work: They did the wiring for our sunroom and rewired the electrical panel for us too.

Let us tell you about these so-called "Christian" company. We have a historic home that was undergoing a total renovation back in 2005. We just became an Angie's List member for this very reason so that we could report this awful contractor. This contractor worked with another contractor named Jose Olmos of Olmos Home Remodeling to install 2 Goodman furnaces and 2 Goodman condensing coil (AC) units at our home while were were away out of state. When we arrived to view the work, Guiding Light Home Repair had done a HORRIBLE and incomplete job - a job that would leave us still paying for repairs 5 years later and annually repairing things. Guiding Light installed these units in a shoddy and un-workmanlike manner and used the wrong wiring number one! This caused our home to almost burn down TWICE! It was due to a faulty breaker and a shoddy wiring job where the contractor used a guage of wire not big enough for the power the units were pulling! This overheated the breakers and they were so hot they caught fire and they melted together!! Thank God we were home BOTH times that it happened as we smelled the burning smoke and were able to trip the main panel breaker! We were furious to find that not only had they caused a tragedy for us with the wiring, they also just threw the sheet metal up around the ductwork with a cheap tape instead of using screws and adequate A/C grade tape. The result was that we had to COMPLETELY redo the work with another contractor who was certified in HVAC repairs and it took him 10 hours but he finally re-created the ductwork and it cost us a hefty penny due to the owner's negligence. We had air leaking out of every duct and orifice into our basement and home! Not happy at all about this and definitely not what a "Christian" company would do to someone in my opinion. We had to spend $1500 to have the ductwork on the 3rd floor completely remade and it's just unbelievable what someone will do when you are away from home. We have learned a very valuable lesson indeed. One more thing, the A/C coil was turned UPSIDE down on its face on the 3rd floor unit and again, we had to pay for an HVAC contractor to come out and fix Guiding Light's errors. Please please save yourself the time, money, and frustration and move on to someone who won't leave you contemplating litigation in order to get your $5000 back that you lost to an absolute phony and a crook who uses the Lord's name to get what they want. They should be ashamed of themselves and should offer us a full refund for all that we have been through!!!!!!

Response from Guiding Light Home Repair
I have checked our records from April 2005 through October 2005 and I show no record of our compnay installing these units. We have done business with Jose' in the past and I can only assume that he installed these units using our good name. There is NO record of us receiving $5000 from you or Jose' during that time. . And as a Christian, the last thing we would do is use the Lord's name to get work!

We got a recommendation from our realtor and were also told that this company had a good reputation from other clients the realtor had worked with. They were very responsive and flexible at getting things done. We weren't sure what they could do, but they were able to finish the work we needed to have done. We are satisfied with the service and will use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: I hired this company to replace the outlet and switch. He also checked our furnace and exhaust fan in our bathroom.
