Mike and his crew were super fast, even after storms caused a lot of tree debris around the city. They trimmed them up and hauled off the pieces within hours. The price was fair and the quality great.

Mike Johnson and his crew did an excellent job taking care of our tree maintenance project. Our trees are very large & old - most are 40+ years especially the Pin Oak in the back and were in need of some extensive TLC. The on-site project manager, Nelson worked closely with us to make sure we were satisfied and that all the work needed had been done. The job took approximately 3-4 hours and the cleanup by the crew was very good. The stump grinding for the removed Maple is scheduled for a future date. Yes, we highly recommend Choice Tree Service. In a word: Fantastic! The day after the most recent windstorm in Overland Park, I knew there could be quite a wait for tree services, and I contacted several companies before I found one that was able to help me quickly. Owner Mike Johnson of Choice Tree Service happened to have a crew already working in my neighborhood when I called, and he scheduled me immediately when I indicated that I definitely wanted the work done rather than just an estimate. He asked me how much I thought the job might be worth, and I gave him a low guess of $500 based on reviews I'd read on Angie's List and elsewhere. Within a few minutes, he arrived at my house and called me back (I was out of town) to say that he couldn't do the job for that amount, but he would clean up everything, including the huge old limb on the ground, for $800. I said OK and his crew went to work literally within minutes. They had the entire yard cleaned up in about an hour and even trimmed the jagged remains of one big branch back to the trunk to improve the future health of the tree. While the crew was cleaning up the mess, he assessed the health of the remaining trees and gave me his opinion on future work that might be needed. They left the yard spotless. I could not be more pleased with the quality, speed, and professionalism of the Choice Tree Service crew, and I believe the price was very fair for all the work they did.

Mike was very responsive to our request for tree service, he returned our original call within minutes and was here to inspect the damage within 15 minutes. We were expected to leave on vacation at 1 0'clock that Sunday. The limb was removed and the debris cleaned up by 12:15! Fabulous job!

Mike's crew did an excellent job. Fast and efficient. They knew what they were doing and did a great job. They cleaned up well and even took away some limbs that I had stacked because they were too thick for me to cut up and bag. A bonus was that Mike was here while they did the work and I did like that the owner/supervisor was here during the job. That doesn't happen often. One of the reasons I hired Mike was because he said he could do the job that afternoon since his crew was working in the area. However I could have saved ~$250 if I had waited for the other company (another A rated Angie's list company) who came earlier in the morning to send me their bid - she inadvertently neglected to give me a figure at the time she came and when she later sent her e-mail, I was unhappy that I paid that much more. Mike admits that he's not the cheapest but if you don't mind paying a premium price, it would be worth it to use his service. He keeps his crew year round and they are extremely good at what they do. One problem: Mike asked if he could pull his bucket truck onto my side yard and I was worried about that because I know that when it rains heavily that side yard gets soggy but he didn't think it was too wet so I allowed him to do that. This morning I see that his truck left big ruts in my side lawn - didn't tear up the grass but left big tire ruts so I'm really sorry that I gave him permission to do that.

Spoke with Mike on Monday, he said he could look at it on Tuesday. All other tree companies couldn't schedule for one to two weeks for an estimate. Mike called me this morning, gave me a very reasonable estimate, half of what another gave me and he said he would try to get us on the schedule in the next 3 days. I came home from work the same day and the tree was gone and the clean up was impeccable. My husband was VERY impressed with them and he is hard to please. They are the best. Definitely will use them again and highly recommend them.

Mike's crew came out that very afternoon and completed most of the work that day. On Saturday, they came out to finish with the Ash tree, and I decided that since they had done such a great job, I'd ask them to trim the Silver Maple in the front yard. I was surprised that Mike was on the job both days. You don't often see an owner who takes the time to be there. I'm sure he can't be at every job, but I was happy to see him at mine. I will definitely hire him and his crew the next time we need work done.

Very quick to respond despite being extremely busy due to storm. They had a crew out within an hour of agreement. They were extremely polite , quick and did a great job cleaning up afterwards.

This was probably the best work that we have ever hired out done. The company owner Mike Was very professional and was very honest with us. I highly recommend this company. I will have all my tree work done from now on by them. They did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves I couldn't ask for more. My husband was so impressed with their quality of work and it takes a lot to impress him he is very critical when it comes to doing things around the house. He is almost 70 years old and I wouldn't let him take the tree down himself so he is a little bit of a control freak when it comes to having someone else do the work. We even sat in the yard the whole time watching them. I am so grateful that MIKE and his crew did such a wonderful job.

The team was fantastic and did a perfect job leaving the tree beautiful and full and cleaning up every dead branch that needed trimmed out. The branches over line are completely gone. I would recommend their work 100%!

Came out as scheduled to provide a quote which was very competitive. The crew was able to complete the work the same day. Completed the work as we discussed, did a great job cleaning up and went above and beyond.

One of our Redbud trees split in the recent 60mph winds, half landed on the gutter and roof, the other half fractured. Mike Johnson came the same day I called him and gave me an estimate, which I accepted. Mike had a crew at my home the next day. They carried away all the debris and didn't harm any of the many Hostas planted beneath it. I would definitely use Choice Tree Service again.

I was super pleased. I don't always love meeting with contractors on house things but my husband works and I don't and it's almost always me. I mention this because I didn't mind this time. Mike was great! I felt he was honest, caring and respectful of our time and situation. I also felt that pricing was fair and was less than we expected. He and his crew then came quickly and did the exact work that they said they would. Our yard was cleared of all debris and except for the tree removal, you would have never known they were there! When I talked to Mike on Tuesday he gave me two quotes, one for the hanging branch and debris ($600) and another to trim all the trees on the property ($3500). I decided to just go with the one tree that was damaged. With the Angie's list coupon the cost was 570. I was impressed by Mike's friendliness, professionalism and knowledge. He indicated that they would probably not be able to get to it until next week. I received the invoice today (Thursday) by email and figured he was sending it out early. When I got home I found that the work was complete, just two days after the estimate. The tree looks so much better and all the debris is gone. I am very happy with the job and plan to use Choice Tree Service when it becomes time to take care of the rest of the trees.

Did the job quickly. Beautiful work and very professional. Price was very reasonable. Trimmed branches hanging over my house and other low hanging branches that were taking over my backyard. Also removed a lot of dead limbs.
