We really wish we had talked to former customers of his before contracting with him. We have a basement that leaks and we have had to correct many issues ourselves.

It turned out Chad and his parents both lived in the same subdvision. The lot we were looking at was not actively listed. We came across it and contacted the owner of the lot on our own. Chad didn't realize the lot was on the market and acted surprised when we told him which lot. After our discussion, Chad indicated he was going to follow up with more information on the subdvision and we'd work together to optimize the floorplan, al the while stressing the importance of finding a builder you can trust and team with them early. Chad never got back with us and calls, messages, and emails went unanswered. We then proceeded to make an offer and just as we were about to go under contract the owner indicated they just received another cash offer. As the lot was not on the market and with their unresponsiveness I assumed it had to be Chad. The lot recently closed and I was able to verify on the tax site that the lot is now under the name of Chad's father. I'm not going to make this personal, but when Chad talks to you about finding a builder you can trust, keep this in mind.
