After indicating an interest online, Chris came out to survey the job and to inform me what he would do. One day clean, next day stain. He accomplished them both quickly and effectively. Very professional in his dealings. Did the job himself. Punctual, polite and focused on the job at hand. Diligently worked around garage area and numerous plants. Did follow-up to insure job satisfaction. First rate.

I got 3 bids for this job and Chris offered the best price. Chris was extremely responsive and showed excellent communication throughout the process, he responded to phone, email & text messages promptly. The work was completed on time and exactly as promised. The house looks GREAT and would recommend to others and use in the future!

Chris was amazing. He went above and beyond in doing what he had agreed to and much more. My husband asked if he could put up bird spike strips and he simply said sure--I'm up there anyway. He was professional and friendly and worked continuously. We couldn't be happier, and love the fresh new look of our home. I have already recommended him to several people and will certainly continue to do so.

The work turned out pretty good, but I felt that they were overpriced.

Chris Hall, the owner, made time to estimate the job himself and on the day I called. He got the estimate back to me that same evening. After comparing his estimate with two others, I hired Alkema and scheduled the work. He and his crew were prompt and thorough. Later, we discovered that his crew accidentally left a piece of cardboard and painters tape on the roof and accidentally failed to replace the rotten frame around a window that was partially hidden by a tree. We took care of the tape and cardboard easily and called Chris about the window frame. He came out and took care of the window. All in all, I am very pleased the the work by Chris and his crew.

It was a great experience. The guy did a very good job and we were very satisfied with the work. When the cost came in, there was no added charge. He was very nice and professional.

They had good evaluation from Angie's List. They were really easy to work with, a really good job, I really liked it. The only thing I'm thinking this was with most professional painter, they don't seem to tape that much so when we started cleaning there a lot of little speckles to clean. Other than that they really did a good job.

Whatever I write, if I say anything derogatory or negative, the reader should expect a quick and negative retort against the writer. I thought for over a month as to whether to even bother because I wondered if no response would be as effective as a negative rating, but no response says nothing. First of all, Mr. Chris Hall, whom you write all checks to, not Alkema painting, is not really good at followup. He suggests you phone his cell phone and leave a message if he does not answer, but he does not return calls. He actually said he called me at work, I was unavailable, and he insisted I WAS AT LUNCH AND DID NOT ANSWER HIM. Maybe he should have returned my call of days earlier and it would not have been necessary to phone me at work. I actually said I was not at lunch, that the person who answered the phone explained why I was unavailable, and he just hung up. He argued that point. Why do you argue with someone who is paying you to do a job? Here I am, at home, trying to explain why I was unable to take his call at work and he is basically calling me a liar and wants to argue the point. If you hire him, be aware of the "bucket list, or point list, or some darn list." His fellow left, took the sign off the lawn saying they were done with the painting, and took all the equipment and said he was done and when I questioned the work I was told WE HAD NEVER GONE OVER THE LIST. What list? I never got a copy of the contract until after the job was done, and when I requested it, Mr. Chris was all angry. Like, why is it so hard to give the client a copy of the contract. I hired these guys because of the rave reviews on Craig's list. One painter was sent to do the house. My custom solar screens were removed from the entire back side of the house, two huge windows and two sliding glass doors and I asked the guy when I got home from work, "You saved all the screws, correct?" I was told yes. The next day, I returned home to find $1100 worth of solar screens slapped up haphazardly and crooked and missing screws and looking like h***. My daughter, who was here during the time said it was Chris himself who took over the power drill and helped slop my screens back up. Guess as a woman, I don't see this crap I spent thousands on. Two coats of paint were in the contract. The trim was such it was obvious to any idiot who does not paint that only one coat was applied. Overall, it was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and when I told him I could paint a straighter line than him, again, I had to listen to him tell me he knew more than me because he was in the business for so many years and blah, blah, blah. And the point is I hired you to paint my house to the specifications I dictated. Again, he brought this to argument about coats of paint to which I replied, COATS OF PAINT WERE THE ISSUE AND NOT THE COST BECAUSE I WAS PAYING AND WILLING TO PAY THE COST. Fully expect a NASTY RETORT TO AN HONEST POSTING OF WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HOUSE. Above the garage trim remains the weird ledges left with his plaster job. Oh, I GUESS BECAUSE I WAS NOT HAPPY IT IS INTERESTING TO NOTE FOR FUTURE CLIENTS, HE HAMMERED MY CHECK THROUGH THE BANK WITHIN HOURS. And, do not make it out to Alkema Painting, make it out to the guy who argues with you. I can sincerely state I have never had the pleasure of paying $2700 to someone to llisten to them TELL ME I AM WRONG. Oh, it should have been $3000 but he kicked back $300 for the screwed up solar screens which I TOLD THEM NOT TO TOUCH and called back the glass company to fix. Which he might argue, but I can get Moules Glass of Elk Grove to substantiate how screwed up Alkema left my custom screens they installed. Would I hire them again? Hey, they gave me a five year warranty so time will tell. Bottom line, exactly what I told Chris, the owner. I felt my house was chump change for his other jobs and not a priority. He sent one painter who was great with a spray gun and a back roller, but was not a brush or trim painter. When I can look at my own house and see that I can paint better than someone I am paying thousands to, there is a problem. And there was, and I had to take a day of work and b**** to get what I was expecting to pay for. But, come on guys? I am a single older woman and you leave my formerly tight window adornments hanging by a thread, the screens all crooked and missing screws that were there two days ago, the trim all crooked, like WHAT THE H***? Jeepers, guess I did not see that? SLOPPY SLOPPY WORK. Some groups would call it Elder Abuse. Others will be excited to see your rebuttal to this posting since you always come back with some retort. Too bad you never answered your phone calls with the same swiftness. Bucket list, point list, what is it that the average person is supposed to remember is the reason you return after the job is done to fix the screw-ups? D***, I don't remember and everyone I ran it across had no clue what you were talking about., I am not clear what this guy was thinking when he contracted this job. My impression was it was quick side money against his bigger jobs and I find that upsetting. He even argued with me that the front popouts were not painted all the way up and over the two inch ledge when his man made crooked lines by not painting that, and I said "No, they were painted all the way over." He yelled, " I have pictures." To which I replied, I HAVE PICTURES ALSO, BECAUSE I PAINTED THE D*** THINGS LAST YEAR!" I DO HAVE PICTURES, WHY IS THIS GUY TREATING ME LIKE AN IDIOT? Chris, when you write your scathing reply, did you consider the ELDER ABUSE FACTOR? I QUALIFY. You can screw people over for money and argue them into submission, but sometimes it might be against the law. Rude, stupid in thinking someone who has spent three years renovating a house does not have pictures of their work, and why all the argument about a SLOPPY HALFASS JOB? Because I am female, and older. Buyer beware. This guy has the potential of doing great work. My house, he was distracted with some better making money deal and I got the leftovers. There are still areas he could correct if he cared about his work. SLAM, BAM, THANK YOU MAMM. ALKEMA PAINTING.

I called on 06-10-2013 and talked to the lady office manager and asked when I could get someone to come by and give me an estimate on paining my home. She said she would have to pass on my information and someone would call me back that day. I never got a call yesterday and now its 1 pm the next day with still no phone call. I believe that if you are going to say your going to do something and not do it, without any communication why, is bad business. It tells me that if I did hire them that whatever they say they will do would be in question. I cannot do business with a company that conducts business this way.

So pleased to have chosen Alkema Painting. Chris came over the day after I called, gave me an estimate that afternoon, work scheduled for the following week. Work completed in one day by a professional, pleasant young man. This was a small job but everyone treated me as if I was their only customer. I highly recommend Alkema!

My daughter-in-law wanted to change the wall color in a portion of their home, so I purchased the deal from Alkema Painting as a gift for her. She was pleased with their work.

Fantastic! I got three estimates. Alkema's was essentially the same (well, about 100$ less expensive) than one estimate (from a company not on this list) and the other (on Angie's list) was almost 2000 more! Please DO be sure to get multiple estimates, folks! So, the price was reasonable. The work took about 42 hours, with two (and sometimes three) people working. All of them were very friendly -- James was especially fun to work with. They made sure that I was very satisfied with every inch before they called it a day. And the place really looks GREAT! In an era where good customer service is so hard to find, highly recommend this crew and would use them again.

The owner, Chris, made a same day appointment with me to estimate the job, and had the estimate to me that very evening. A few days later, I accepted the estimate and we scheduled the job. Although we had a one day rain delay, the job was professionally done promptly. The painting crew were friendly, polite and very competent, and patiently worked around the occasional interruption by the tenant's dog. Not only will I use them again, I expect to do so very soon.

The gentleman who painted our shutters was very professional and delivered as promised. We have to paint our shutters a certain color because of our HOA, he went and picked up the paint from Sherwin Williams, arrived on time and finished in a timely manner. The work was great and it past our HOA standards. I'd recommend his company for future projects.

Alkema Painting had very reasonable prices. I think these people are great people to work with. They were excellent. The prices were reasonable and the work was very well done.

Employee's showed up on time every day and the manager went above and beyond to accomodate my schedule.They kept me informed every step of the way. I could not have been hapier. Completed the job on time and at the right price.

They guy was very friendly, very knowledgeable. I liked the work he did because he showed me a portfolio of his work. Overall, he was a real professional. I got a real good impression from him. He was going to paint a room, the trim and the ceiling.

Chris was very prompt in returning my call and setting up an appointment to meet for an estimate. They were very fast in response time. They gave a great estimate in terms of quality, price and recommendations from my friend. We chose them and were told that the job will be done in 3 days time. They totally finished the job in 2 days! We were very impressed with the quality of the job and the time it took to finished it. All the workers were really friendly and helpful and professional. Would definitely recommend them!

After obtaining bids for painting our newly acquired 1767 sq. ft. two story house with some 20 ft. high ceilings we selected Alkema to paint the interior of the house. It needed a complete interior repaint with a few problems such as wallpaper removal, retexturing, patching, soot, and some very picky people (us) who had difficulty selecting colors. Chris and Jerry were very easy to work with. I am not sure they would say the same about us. The house came out looking great. We were very pleased with the results. A few months later when we were ready to paint the exterior we called Alkema again. That is the reason for the $6,000 price as that was the total cost for painting the interior and exterior of the house.

Our larger work in the kitchen was carried out by Kitchen Mart. Their recommended painter was a no show. They removed all the cabinet doors as they would later replace hinges and handles and knobs. Alkema came in and set up shop in our garage for the painting creating a plastic-sealed paint area. All cabinet door work was done there. They sealed off the kitchen area for priming and painting. There was a good deal of prep work, sanding, filing in and taping. Walk areas to exits were covered with paper. I believe at least two coats of prime and paint was applied (maybe 3). One small area of sanding gave the head painter a challenge and he would not give up on it until we were all satisfied. He took great pride in his work. The daily cleanup was good and the final cleanup was excellent. The only item that surprised us was the use of much of our dining room for laying out cabinet doors for drying over nearly a week, It was a bit unsightly but we figured it would soon be gone. We are completely happy with the work and would recommend to all.
