Roof Cleaning Process - Eco Friendly Elite Roof Cleaners., Missouri's foremost expert on proper shingle cleaning techniques, is here to rid the “Black Streaking” from your roof. Inaccurately identified as “roof mold,” these blue-green algae appear on roughly 80% of all homes in Missouri and may reduce your home’s curb appeal and also its overall value. Don’t replace your roof, we’ll clean it. In fact, an estimated 50% of all new residential roofs are installed not because they are leaking or worn out – but for aesthetic reasons only. It is very important to have the utmost confidence when hiring a qualified roof cleaning contractor. The experts at Roof Cleaning Missouri/Kansas use the algae removal methods recommended by the Roof Cleaning Institute of America (RCIA). We also adhere to the “Soft Wash” roof cleaning process approved by the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA). We never use pressure washing equipment which would harm your shingles. Our algae eliminating chemicals do all of the work to remove the “Streaking” and discoloration from your roof and requires NO pressure washing or heavy rinsing. Leaving the chemicals on the roof creates a hostile environment for future algae growth. Each time it rains, a small amount of chemical is reactivated to give your roof a secondary cleaning and aids in disinfecting the mold and mildew embedded in the shingles even further. Your roof benefits with a longer lasting cleaning and overall appearance. Environmentally Friendly At Roof Cleaning Missouri we take special pride in keeping your home and property environmentally safe and secure. We follow the proper roof cleaning chemical standards set by the Asphalt Roof Manufacturers Association. Our cleaning chemicals are as safe as what you put down your household drains. What You Should Know Roof Washing is a completely different trade from pressure washing requiring different pumps, hoses, nozzles, chemicals, caution, knowledge, experience, skill, and insurance. Pressure washing (power washing) is not recommended because it will remove a large amount of the ceramic coated granules from your shingles, which will void the warranty. Even low pressure will cause granule loss and shorten the life of your shingles. If you have ever cleaned your gutters you will notice granules in them just from the rainfall. Think what any additional pressure would do to your roof! The price of cleaning your roof is approximately 1/10 of its overall replacement cost. Remember, “Roof cleaning does'nt cost "It Pays".

-Cook Roofing Company LLX has a full service, experienced staff that is proficient in all kinds of roofing, guttering and painting. -Fully insured. -A 50% deposit is normally required upon signing a contract and full payment is due upon completion. -We do roof inspection, evaluation and appraisal for individuals and companies. -Some financing is available.

"Overall, I am greatly disappointed in this company. This company disappointed me in every way possible. Owner, Mark Cook, hired subcontractors to do the work for him since he was too busy to do it himself and he definitely was not aware of the quality of their workmanship, nor did he supervise their work. He fired one crew after I sent him pictures of the shoddy work they were doing on my siding, and then after the second crew had been hired (and also were not experienced), they left the job unfinished and it is still unfinished to this day. Weeks would go by with no communication and I would have to text and call him about 5-6 times to get a call back and on two occasions I had to threaten legal action to get him to do any work on my home. There was a litany of mistakes....He ordered the wrong materials, and the roofers installed a red/brown roof on my home that was supposed to be grey. It does not match the dark blue siding. He forgot to order two windows and so I paid for them out of pocket. Both of his siding crews installed the siding improperly and he tried to tell me that the siding was defective and that he couldn't do anything for me to make it right until the siding manufacturers fixed it for him. I have had two other companies come out to look at it and they confirmed it has been installed improperly. The window contractor was great and roofers installed that properly (as far as I know), just with the wrong colored material. Siding has been left hanging from the side of the home, gable vents not replaced, trim looks really bad, the front door was not replaces as promised, porch lights, outlets, shutters, and hoses are not reattached to the home. And the most noticeable thing that I see when I look at my home is all of the warped siding covering it. I gave Mark a check for $16,000 and he made sure to stop by my place of employment to pick it up the day after the insurance company sent it in the mail, but then it took him over a year to get to the point where he just wouldn't do any more work on my home...and a LOT of headache and frustration during that time. I hired Mark's dad many years ago replace my roof and he was great to work with. I thought that was who still ran the company, but sadly, this has been a totally different and disappointing experience. If you would like to see the work that his subcontractors did, please feel free to drive by my home and take a look. It's located at: 140 Rea St., Hollister. I'm still waiting for the extra funds to fix the mess Cook Roofing Company has left. Please save yourself the headache and hire someone that cares about doing good work on your home."

Roof cleaning services FAQs

Even though you don’t look at your roof often, there are some telltale signs that you should have your roof professionally cleaned. It’s best to hire a professional roof cleaner as soon as you notice signs of wear and tear to preserve the essential feature’s longevity. Some indicators to look out for include:

  • Leaf buildup in gutters

  • Dirt and grime buildup

  • Moss or black algae growth

  • Dirt buildup under shingles

  • Shifting roof shingles

  • Plant growth

The cost of roof cleaning is $455 for the average homeowner. However, this cost can range from $150 to $1,000, depending on the size, pitch, and material of the roof, as well as the cleaning method used.

Since roof cleaning costs between $0.20 and $0.60 per square foot, it’s fair to say that the larger your roof, the more you pay for cleaning services. Additionally, if you have a steep roof, you can expect to pay an additional $0.15 per square foot due to the complex nature of the job and additional safety equipment needed.

A professional roof cleaning lasts about a year on average, so it’s best to do it annually. This schedule helps catch any roof problems before they become extensive and helps prevent mold, moss, and algae from forming. If you live near the coast, annual roof cleaning will help prevent salt buildup on your roof. You can add professional roof cleaning to your yearly home maintenance checklist to ensure you never miss a year.

On average, cleaning a roof will take between two to five hours. This timeline depends on the size and slope of your roof and the severity of any stains. Cleaning roof stains can take additional time, especially if there are signs of moss or algae.

In addition, the age of your roof makes an enormous difference in the time it takes to clean it, as older roofs need more gentle care. If you have significant landscaping in your yard by your house, your professional roof cleaner will need additional time to protect it from cleaning chemicals.

It is not advisable to DIY a roof cleaning job. Cleaning your roof yourself could lead to hazardous falls, scrapes, and even burns, making this a dangerous project. Additionally, using the wrong cleaning solution or cleaning method on your roof could risk damaging it. While some markets offer a DIY roof cleaning kit, these products often speed up the deterioration of your roof.

To ensure that you and your roof are protected, it’s best to leave roof cleaning to a professional with the right chemicals, tools, and equipment to complete the job safely.
