SAM'S RETAINING WALLS & HOME REPAIR

Description of Work: *My husband & I are preparing to start a huge landscape project, for our backyard (Outdoor Living Area). Originally, our thoughts were to have one company multi-task the job. The bids came in at double what we wanted to spend, for our budget. Unfortunately we found the first 3 businesses, we interviewed and asked to give a rendering and a bid, came back to us with padded numbers. As we started reviewing their work sheet, with them, we found the figures were way over blown. To complete our project, we, then, decided to become the general contractor, and bid out the jobs, based on priority, and, phases we have structured. Our 1st phase requires us to find someone who can create a new walk out area, from our basement, by cutting through the foundation wall, tying in the existing drain and build barrier walls & steps; & complete it by filling in the existing walk out area. *The job requires a permit. Sam's Retaining Walls returned our call promptly and set up an appointment for the following day. He came to our home, on time and was prepared with pictures, of previous jobs and tools to take measurements. Out of at least 10 interviews & bids, (some from Angie's List & some from Home Show), we found Sam's to be the most creative & honest in terms of cost for materials & supplies and labor. When Sam left our home, not only, did we feel confident with Sam's ability & talents, but he gave us the best bid, to complete Phase 1. We are waiting for the final written paperwork/contract and based on the figures he gave us, we have decided to use him for Phase 1.
