I purchased a 417 magazine daily deal for $60 on 10/9/2011 in order to have our windows cleaned by Perk It Up Cleaning and Restoration Services. The deal's voucher expired on 4/10/2012. I contacted the business in March 2012 to schedule the work. The owner said they were busy and he would call back to schedule. The business didn't call back, so I called again in early April. He said they were too busy and didn't have staff to do the work requested. He said he would just refund the voucher's cost by the end of May. He asked that I text my address to him. I did so. We have received no refund. We have had numerous text messages and phone calls since then. The business claims to not have gotten the message, and then they lost a follow-up message. On the last phone call, I told the business that I may file a BBB complaint if I don't receive the refund of $60. The owner said "do what you gotta do". Do not get taken by this guy.
Description of Work: Purchase a daily deal to have the outside of our windows cleaned.
He was referred to me. I checked their references for a job they did for new build construction about three years ago and they said he did an awesome job and they even tipped him. We were thinking if we platformed out the deck, I could get out in the yard more. He came and had his clipboard. He wrote down the deck and the tile. He made sure we had enough of the inset and grout. He said he would start on Monday and it would be half down as he had said on the phone. The other half would be at the completion of the job. I gave him half down and he said he didn't have a contract with him and he would bring one the next day. He didn't show up that Monday. I had done sample boards. He took our half down and a week later he came and then he came the following week. He only worked like three hours and he used our landline to hook up his laptop to get the estimator program because he didn't have a battery. He complemented the copper tone glazing on our fireplace outset, the recessed ceiling and all the painting I've done in this house including doors and everything. He only needed to spend 2-2 1/2 days in our home putting down tile and hardwood. It got ugly and he finally said he would be here. He didn't give us back our money and he told the salesperson that is a mutual friend that he had tried to send us a money order. I went to the police and the detective was helpful. I called an attorney and he was even more helpful. He performed approximately 5 hours of total time of ceramic tiling in the kitchen entrance. I got an extra piece of backer board so he could do the perimeter, which he didn't do. He slopped thin-set all over our deck and mortar. He is a liar and con artist. He left his tools here for weeks on end. Finally my husband told him to get his tools and get out of our home. I was recommended to take him to small claims court, which I am going to do. He is like a ghost in the wind. His voicemail says what work he does and to let him exceed your expectations. He had come late one evening from 5-7:30 pm; then he came at 6 am the following morning and left before 9 am. He said he would be back in a couple of hours. Then we didn't hear from him for another 5 days.
Description of Work: I wanted Renew Finishes to finish laying the tile for flooring. The backer board was down and it was down to sub floor for the wood. We also wanted him to do a deck extension platform because I have a hard time getting down in the yard because my legs don't work right.
