I was having a problem with my furnace working intermittently. It was an extremely windy day and I thought the wind might have blown out the pilot light, but that was not the problem. The repair man arrived pretty quickly after I called. The furnace was working again by the time he got there (of course!). He still checked everything he could and couldn't find anything wrong. So he waited around for a little while to see if it would stop working again and it finally did. He still couldn't find anything wrong, and told me the part that usually shows a code to help them determine was is wrong was not working. It wasn't showing any code at all. He said the wind might be the problem, or it could be something stuck in the vent on the roof. The roof was icy so he didn't want to go up there to check it out. He replaced the part that showed the code, and still couldn't find the problem. He decided it must be the wind. He was going to take out the new part that he had put in since it didn't fix anything, but I told him to leave it so the next time he could get the code. The wind had died down some, and the furnace was working all the time by the time he left. He said he would stop by the next day (Saturday) to make sure it was still working. He did come by the next day, and it was still working fine. The ice had melted off of the roof, so he went up there to check out the vent. There wasn't anything in there, but he put a piece on top so nothing could get in there in the future. He was very professional and seemed to go the extra mile to make sure it was working correctly. He didn't even expect payment while he was there, they mailed a bill! I was surprised at the bill because the part was cheaper than he said it was going to be. Also, the labor part of the bill was not very high considering how long he was there Friday and Saturday. I would definitely recommend them!

We took 3 bids to have central air installed in our existing home.Larry Maciejewski came the day after I requested the bid. He took substantially more time to look at the various aspects of what needed to be done than the other bidders. He noted those I was aware of and mentioned several more. The crawl space access portal needed to be enlarged to allow the unit to be lowered into that space. He mentioned excessive corrosion on a LP gas line and said whatever was done, we needed to replace that line. He was friendly and polite. His bid was mailed to me within that same week. I requested an upgrade cost for a higher SEER rated unit in order that it would be compariable to the other bids I had received. I had mentioned this possibility to him when he made his visit. His bid increased somewhat, but was still more than $1,000 less than the next closest bidder.Seeing such a large difference in the bids I asked what the additional costs would be for the enlarged access, etc. He said that it was included in the quote. The higher SEER units had to be ordered in as they did not have them in stock. The installation crew arrrived with the units in about a week. The crew was skilled and was able to answer any questions I asked. They installed the system in just over 3 days (including the new copper LP gas line and a couple of light fixtures for the crawl space (no additional charges!).I would recomend Maciejewski Heating and Plumbing to anyone. In my opinion they were fantastic.

The people out to investigate and do the estimate were extremely nice and I felt comfortable with them. In the community, everyone recommends them for heating, cooling and plumbing, so I decided to go with them as well. The owner called with the estimate and said they would be out on Monday, which they were. The owner was a bit sexist, I noticed. He made a few comments alluding to the and quot;factand quot; that I was completely in the dark relating to matters regarding my own house, because, of course, women don't know how to fix anything. (This is not true, as the huge tool box in the garage are full of MY tools, as my husband is somewhat inept at fixing things, and my Dad thought no female should be helpless and taught me how to fix quite a few things. If I don't know, I look it up and read about it to familiarize myself with how it is done, even if I do hire a professional to do it.) Then he stated that they would make a and quot;bit of dustand quot; so whoever cleans my house for me ( I said that would be me), would have a bit of clean up to do. I asked if the estimate included repairing the drywall, and he stuttered over himself a bit and said what drywall repair there would be. He explained that the plumber he was sending out looked a bit and quot;scaryand quot; with a long beard, but not to be afraid. He would do a good job, and he was fast. It would take a day and a half. Earlier this year, I had finished the drywall in the basement and stained and sealed the floors to cut down on dust because I keep my sewing equipment down there. We had not put up a ceiling yet, thank goodness! We also have a big TV down there in a new cabinet. I moved everything out of the way as much as I could, so I felt I was ready. Two gentlemen showed up, the plumber, and a heating and cooling specialist to assist. The plumber got to work, and began to saw out the pipes. Yucky water poured out of the pipe. I think that made him a bit upset, as it should have been empty. It was too small, and was not braced correctly, so the pipe was sagging and collecting goo and water in the saggy parts. Fortunately the toilets were not on that side of the house. I was very glad I had not put carpet down. I was able to mop up the mess easily. He was like a bull in a china shop. He went after those pipes with gusto, not remotely careful. At one point, a pipe fell (as they all did) and nicked a 1/2 inch chunk out of the new TV cabinet. He just said, and quot;this is not my dayand quot; and went on. No apology. The guy helping waited until he was outside and said, and quot;I would tell the owner about that. It won't get him in trouble, he's worked here for 30 some years, but I would tell him.and quot; I picked my battles, however, as I didn't like the way the pipe was in front of the window. Eventually, I would like to drywall the ceiling and would need a bulk-head there, so I asked on day two if he could reconfigure that section so I could put in a bulk-head without it being in front of the window. He did this without complaint and it is great. They did not run the vent pipe behind the wall as I thought they would, but behind the clothes in my closet in front of the wall. After seeing the bull-in-a-china-shop way of operating, I kept my peace and decided I was lucky not to have to repair the dry-wall (which was textured....a pain to fix because it must be sanded down to tape the piece back, then retextured. I knew at this point they wouldn't do this). After moving my clothes racks three inches forward, repainting the closet (I painted the pipe the color of the wall and it is not too noticeable) and the wall downstairs, cleaning PVC shavings and bits of pipe, and mopping over and over, almost two weeks later my house is finally back together. Sheww! All that being said, they did fix the plumbing, it works great, no more sewer gasses, no more slurpy gurgles throughout the house, and no more slow drains. Yes, they could have been much more careful, but they were responsive to moving the pipe when I asked. I'm glad it's over.
Description of Work: The drainage side of the plumbing in the entire house was not done correctly and not vented correctly and sewer gasses were coming up through the shower drain. Replaced entire drainage side of plumbing.
