It is never a customer’s responsibility to prove that work was in fact not completed, but yet that is how we were treated. It is also not acceptable to tell a customer that they are unethical and “looking for something for free” when that customer protests being charged $600 for a repair that was neither asked for nor done. Insinuating that we should pay, because “maybe the tech just snuck into your yard and fixed it” is wildly inappropriate and also trespassing. Being asked “well is it working now?” as if we are stupid enough to think Vaughan fixed our spa and consequently pay the bill is insulting. Through this whole process, instead of being polite and attempting to make us not feel like we were being scammed, that feeling was reinforced by every rude interaction we had with a Columbia store employee (Brent). He even went so far as to tell my husband that I didn’t know what I was talking about and basically call me a liar. We have never been treated with such a lack of even common courtesy by a business before. We had willingly paid them for repairs and products in the past, so being accused of trying to get something for free was absurd and insulting. Don't do business with this company if you hope to have a good or fair service experience!
Description of Work: We discovered that our spa was not getting power, so I called and spoke to Charles in the Vaughan Pool and Spa Columbia store. Vaughan had previously replaced our heater board, and I asked if that part and work was warrantied. When he indicated that it was still within the year warranty, I asked if someone could come and verify that the board had not malfunctioned. There was no mention that the warranty only covered the part and that we would be responsible for a service call fee. Had it been, I would have gladly agreed. To be very clear, I did not ask for a diagnosis because I was aware that if the heater board was good then the motherboard was the obvious culprit. Despite what their employees obviously think, they are not the only ones who understand how power is supplied to an electrical system. It was determined that the heater board was still good, so we went ahead and ordered a new motherboard from another company who offered it at a competitive price. Later we received a bill from Vaughan for approximately $600 despite the fact that we did not request that the repair be done and it was, in fact, not done.

I called Vaughn Pools and Spa's to schedule a service visit. The person I spoke with said that they didn't schedule appointments and that someone would be out to look at the spa as their schedule permitted. I gave my contact information. A couple of days go buy and hearing nothing, I call back Vaughn and the same person asks, 'oh, didn't he call you yet?'. No, I respond. I never heard from the service provider. He apparently replaced a 'cartridge' and added chemicals. I was charged for 2 HOURS of labor at a cost of $160 plus a service call charge of $50. We had our own chemicals and had previously cleaned the cartridge. The only communication from this company was an invoice. At a minimum we should have been called to discuss the services he was supposedly providing.
Description of Work: Repaired a hot tub. Added chemicals.
