That’s when I looked for companies that do flatwork. I like the idea of local, family-run companies and found Hoffman Concrete. I also like that their website says they offer “Excellent Customer Service.” I haven’t had a chance to see that firsthand. I called them on a weekday mid-morning and got their voicemail. I left a message and then later received a message back with a callback number. I’ve called three more times since then and got voicemail. I’m not sure what’s going on around there in the middle of the day, but I am done trying. There are plenty of other places that would be grateful for my business."

"Finish Touch gets 5 stars from me. They built us a beautiful looking retaining wall at the rear of our house 4 years ago this month and were the low bidder by far--the bids ranged from over $17,000 to under $3000 for Finishing Touch with several others from 6k to 10k. I waited to post a review until now because build quality of a retaining wall can't be measured until after passage of time. Their wall has held up nearly perfectly over 4 years now so I believe it is justifiable to say it was properly built and the preparatory pre-construction work like ensuring drainage was all done well. On top of doing first rate work at the low price, a few months ago I contacted Mr. Watson about another potential job involving our crumbling and sagging concrete front steps and porch. He spent a good 20 minutes+ explaining we could get 90% of the benefit of redoing them by instead mud jacking them and using polymeric sand to fill a crack. He was right. I unreservedly recommend them."

"You will not go wrong hiring Sam! Sam and his team tore out our old cement patio and put down pavers. Sam came to meet with me a few days after we talked on the phone. I interviewed another contractor and decided that I wanted to hire Sam. However, my husband hadn't met him yet, so Sam made the trip back to our house to go over the job with my husband. Sam and his team did quality work and Sam communicated with me throughout the process. He was at our house, when he said he would be and kept his word from the beginning of this process. If I ever need another patio, or retaining wall, I will call Sam again. In this day and age, it is so difficult to know who to trust. I'm grateful we found Sam for this job!"

"If I could give 0 stars, I would. I hope this is a warning for anyone considering using Allen, they are absolutely HORRENDOUS to work with. Never in my life have I spoken with such a disgusting manager. To give back story, we hired Allen to inspect our backflow last July. A member of the team came out, inspected, and gave us a green/blue tag saying we were “all good to go”. He mentioned that we didn’t need any paperwork, and that they would submit it directly to the water district. A year later, our water district called letting us know they were shutting off our water because they never got a passing test from Allen. The manager and receptionist BOTH said it was mine and my husband’s fault because we mentioned in passing that we would eventually take out our sprinkler, so the information never got sent to the water district. DISGUSTING! This was also after admitting that the inspector didn’t work there anymore “for good reason”. After arguing with the Manager who still insisted it was mine and my husband’s fault, they sent out a new tech who straight up told the manager while I was standing there “the inspector did pass them in their inspection and gave them a tag. The information is all here. The office must not have filed the paperwork correctly”. They still continued to send us a bill for the re-inspection. Save yourself the hassle and hire someone that actually cares."

"Homemaker Landscaping erected a double tier retaining wall that is absolutely beautiful. These guys are super hardworking and don't mess around. They worked hard and got the job done quickly. Super Clean, Super Courteous, Fantastic Communication, and did a Fantastic Job. My home is new construction and I am having them come back to build a huge driveway retaining wall coming into my garage and also landscape all my retaining walls. Definitely recommend!"
