We have been using Mad Hatter for years, and they always do an excellent job. They are punctual, professional, and they do good work. They have sometimes shown us video of the inside of the chimney. They also do not leave a mess at all, which can be an issue with some providers, from what I have heard.

The experience was good and they did a great job.

I will start with the wonderful office personnel. She was extremely helpful!!! Got us booked right away Both Times. When the techs came out they were respectful of my home and incredibly knowledgeable! (They were also very professional and funny! :))) Since we had lived in our home for 12 years and never had the chimney cleaned, I was kind of expecting the worst, but it really was not that bad. The repair work we have done was elective. We could have waited a few years to fix the issue, but as a Mom, I felt the issue need to be fixed right away. The man refused to clean the chimney despite the fact that a fellow cleaner from the same company had cleaned it 18 months previous without any problems.

They found some issues with the chimney and gave us an estimate for the repairs.

The chimney deteriorated to some extent and so they put in a deal to. I didn't feel they were as professional as they could have been. I didn't feel that they cleaned up adequately. The problem is the leak in the roof is probably associated with the chimney work. We not only had the chimney done but we had some tuck pointing done too. Somebody up there screwed up.

Bought a ca 1938 house with original rumford style brick and mortar fireplace. MH did the inspection during buying process that noted it to be not functional due to cracked, missing mortar and allowing gases to leak through. Provided estimate of 3600$ to replace with stainless steel flue liner, new flue dampener, and tuckpoint firebox, sealing with chamber tech material. Initial work was done in one day, however when we we later tried our first fire, we noted soot coming through an electrical outlet above the mantel (very concerning). Joe arrived to inspect, and noted that the chamber tech sealant had "missed a spot" and the outlet box could be seen through a hole (showed me a picture). He arrived prepared, sealed the area and given OK. Well, on next attempt we had significant back flow of smoke into house. I called, he asked a few questions, mostly confirming fire type and flue dampener was open. But was disastrous, (eye stinging smoke) like a campfire in a closet. Joe arrived promptly again, this time with camera to inspect entire work done. Became very concerned that liner placed was too narrow and that prior tile was not removed as intended. He honestly explained the lead employee on the job prior was no longer with company and he was very disatisfied with work done. He took ownership and promptly (weather was rough) had his best crew come and remove the old liner, remove the old tiles, and replace everything. Took 2-3 days I think, two man job. He additionally hired a machine lift to save time of building scaffolding to get it done quicker. The initial crew i never got a chance to meet or supervise, but these guys were polite, knowledgable and professional. Joe was always reachable easily by phone and followed the work closely. Following everything, the fireplace worked great. It was disappointing to see the first go-round done carelessly, but Joe was very up front about everything, apologized and to his credit, made it right. Thats why they're deserving of an A rating. At no time, was there ever a hint that he wasn't going to do everything he could to make it right. The final work was also very well done and we're having no problems what so ever. Theres not a hint of smoke in the home anymore, it drafts perfectly as its specific architecture intended, the Joe knew well. recommended.

Arrived on time. Did all I asked for. Cleaned-up after themselves. Very pleased!!!

They did a good job. The only thing we were told since this is we should have gotten pictures of the chimney and we have not received those. He called and let me know he was running a little behind and he even stayed extra time. He cleaned up after himself as well. I am not sure if this company offers to give pictures to their customers of the chimneys or not.

We just purchased a house and wanted to make sure the chimney, firebox and flue were in good shape and safe to use. I reviewed chimney sweeps on Angies List and decided to use Mad Hatter. I emailed them and they returned my email with price info and I called and an appointment was made easily and they automatically gave me the special price they were advertising at the time. It took about 2 weeks for an appointment but that was okay. The tech showed up on time, explained what he was going to do, performed a good job and kept my house clean. Afterwards I was given a description of what was found and when I should have the service repeated.

Great experience. Company inspected my chimney with a camera and provided a very detailed report of the dangerous condition of the chimney in my home. The worker who performed the inspection was professional, polite, and completely cleaned up the area. Company's analysis and recommendations - that I would need a whole new chimney liner - were confirmed by another company's inspection and I got bids for the work. A worker came back out to my house to review the proposal in detail and answer my questions. Again, the worker was knowledgeable and was not trying to convince me to sign a contract so much as he was trying to help me understand the work. The company even agreed to lower their bid. After signing the contract the work was scheduled promptly. Originally, the company was going to install the fireplace doors while installing the new chimney liner and damper, but the doors had not been delivered. Company agreed to make a special trip back to install the fireplace doors. The workers arrived on time and were friendly and professional. The workers finished the job in one day although they had scheduled time for a second day just in case things went slower than expected. The workers informed me that there was a chance the damper wire would get stuck as the material dried, and sure enough the next day it was stuck. I called the company and they quickly sent someone back out to take a look. Worker was polite and apologetic and fixed the problem with no drama or finger pointing. We have run about 5 fires through our new chimney after the work and everything works very well. The chimney liner is properly sized so the fires draft properly and no smoke comes into the house. This was a big expense for my family and we were very careful about the cost and the company we selected for the job. That said, every person I communicated with from this company from owner, to the workers, to the office staff were professional, courteous, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure I understood and was comfortable with the process. In my experience, this is pretty rare, but much appreciated.

Everything went very well, Jason was very friendly and professional. Took alot of care to keep everything clean. He used a camera to inspect the entire flue and showed me some ventilation features of the fireplace we had forgotten about. I should have asked about pricing when I called for the appointment, so when Jason told me the price before he got started, I was a little taken aback, but we needed the service, so we probably would've paid that anyway. We have used this company (for chimney sweeps only) twice before.

I have used them before and the overall quality of their service has been good. I plan to use them again.

They came out on Saturday which was convenient and they showed up on time. And he did great! I would use them again in the future.

My overall experience with them was not good. The service performed on the chimney was good but they left my carpet covered with soot.

They seemed to do a very nice job. They were very punctual. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. We had no problem. I would use them in the future.
