Hoff Heating & Air Conditioning

Fixed in 1/2 hour.

I've used them previously. They were very good. Their price was good because they were able to get financing for me and that was a concern at the time. They were very responsive and called right back. I would absolutely use them again.

Our air went out on a Saturday night. We tried to repair it, but it was going to be expensive, and our system was very old, so we decided to just replace the whole thing. I called Monday morning for an estimate, and the estimator (Chad) arrived within an hour of my call. He was here only 10 minutes, and wrote up the bid within an hour of that visit. We scheduled the work to be done the next morning at 8 am. Chad also received all of our calls with our silly questions with absolute grace. Tuesday morning, I received a call that the installers would be a bit later due to being sent out on an emergency call. The arrived around 11:30, and the work was completed and we had cold air coming in to our house by 2:30 that day. Everyone I dealt with was very professional, answering all questions easily and without making me feel stupid. They were even happy to let my 5-year-old son follow them around "helping" with the installation. I would definitely call this company again with any problems. In fact, we plan to have them install a new furnace in the fall.

AC was running almost continually and the house was getting warmer. Hubby found ice on the evaporator coil so we figured we were low on freon again. (had happened before in 2008) I called Hoff on Tuesday 7/19 at 4:45pm. To my surprise, they asked if the next day was ok for me. In this week long terrible heat wave I was delighted for such quick service. The appointment was set for between 8am & noon. Jim arrived at 11:15am and quickly looked over my furnace & AC. He explained my system is old and will probably need replacing in the near future. I TOTALLY agree with him. He explained that if there is a leak in the system, it usually gets worse and due to the age and condition of my system, he asked if I was willing to pay $30 per pound for freon. I agreed and by 11:30am the AC was blowing cold again. When he was done and presented the bill, I asked him some questions. He said I would probably have to have the AC charged again yearly depending on the size of the leak. I asked what they charge to find the leak & he replied they charge $120.00 to "sniff" out the leak. IF it is in a repairable spot, the $120.00 would go towards the repair. If the leak was in the evaporator coil, it would probably not be repairable and due to the shaking of my blower it's a good possibility. I asked him how do I go about getting an estimate for a new system. He said to call the office & they will send some one out to measure etc. Jim was very pleasant, professional, informative and did not try to up sell me. The bill was $68.00 for call/labor and $90.00 for 3 lbs of freon = $158.00. They have a coupon for Angie's list members that I did not show him until after the bill was presented. With their coupon, I paid only $148.00. I definitely highly recommend Hoff and I will be calling them for pricing on a new system.

I switched from another company because it looked like they had a better service plan at least on the surface. They offered more for less. I got a maintenance agreement that is $160 annually. They were fine. It was easy to get them to come out. I am quite flexible on their punctuality.

We noticed water around the base of the blower in the basement. We called Hoff and they were out the next day. The tech came out when they said he would and had it fixed within the hour. Very easy and reasonable to work with.

We called to make an appointment on Monday, because we knew our unit was having problems. We still had cold air blowing at the time, so we scheduled our appointment for Wednesday between 8 and noon. At 12:15 AM Tuesday morning, the unit began to vibrate so badly that it caused our water heater to spring a leak. We had to shut off the a/c until the water heater could be fixed. I called around 8:30 on Tuesday morning to try to reschedule our appointment, but with so many people having problems with their a/c units, they could not come until Wednesday. I'm pretty sure they moved us up on the list, because Tim showed up at our house at 8:30 in the morning. They had to find the blower wheel and bracket for our unit, because they did not have one at their shop.Tim came out at 4:00 Wednesday to install the parts and found out that the bracket was the wrong size. They spent most of the day on Thursday hunting down a bracket for our unit. Tim was at our house at 3:45 and by 4:16 we had wonderful , cold air flowing through our air vents. The estimate was between $600 and $800 and with the service fee, we were $1 over $800, so that is not too bad.

During his inspection, I mentioned that the AC struggled to keep up with the heat so they checked freon levels. Technician tells me I was a little low. I agreed to pay for them to fill it up. Fast forward to 2011 when I had another company out. They run routine diagnostics after servicing my AC and notice the freon levels are "much too high." He documented the level freon should be at and what mine was at as proof. He explained to me why too much freon can make an AC unit much less efficient and therefore put more strain on the system. The technician from Hoff basically charged me money to fill my AC unit with freon to make it more efficient, but ultimately the efficiency didn't improve because he overfilled it.

Chad came out to the house to do a bid. He was very professional and took time later on in the week to speak with me again regarding questions I had. He answered all very clearly and we scheduled our appointment for installation for the following week. Two employees arrived at 8am and finished the job at 2:30pm. They removed all of the old equipment and took time to show me how the new equipment worked.

Everything passed, they changed our filter and the system seems to be working fine.

They were all very professional and experienced. If you need them, they are here the same day. Always friendly and professional technicians. Would highly recommend them to anyone and we love the Geo Thermal system! Tax and Energy refunds are a nice benefit too!

I arrive home from work and notice that my house was cold. I check the thermostat and then went to main circuit breaker found the furnace c/b tripped. I reset the c/b but it retripped when blower start to come on. I call Hoff Heating & Air Conditioning requested service technician. The technician arrival on time and was professional. He was very knowledgeable and quickly diagnostic the problem to faulty furnace control board and thermostat. After replacing the two items my furnace was running normally. The cost of the repair was higher than normal due to it being Sunday but it was reasonable and I will use then future!

They came right away and did a wonderful job. They provided good service and money wise they were very reasonable. It was a little piece they had to replace. I'm not sure of the price as my husband took care of that. They were very friendly and very professional. It wasn't like they tried to tell us that we needed more parts. They knew what exactly was wrong and my husband had already figured out that was what the problem was. It was nice knowing that they weren't taking advantage of us. They were very confident and they did the same with the air conditioning. It was in the summer time like June and it was very hot. They got to it as soon as they could and I know that they were very booked. It was wonderful that they did come and do a great job. I had a flower bed that was in our air conditioning unit and they did a wonderful job of making sure they didn't tear up anymore than they had to. My overall experience was excellent. We knew about the ball park figure and we thought they did pretty well on that one too. They were very responsible. They were very good and didn't leave a mess. They tolerated my dog. There are few companies I would not definitely rate highly, but this one I would definitely rate them high.

They had sent out a very good technician to check our air conditioner. They were prompt and courteous. They were also quite trust worthy. I would be using them again in future.

Our circuit breaker on our central air kept tripping. The unit is 15 yrs old so I was sure it needed to be replaced. The technician came out and checked the unit and the current draw and suggested that the breaker was weak and tripping when not necessary. I replaced the circuit breaker and have had no more problems. They easily could have sold me a new unit for several thousand dollars and instead I only paid for a service call.

I called and set up an appointment for the following week. Was pleased to have them come out sooner rather than later. My appointment time was between 8-12. The tecnician arrived a little after 12--probably because I live in Defiance and he was in St. Charles. He arrived and I told him what we needed to have done. He checked and cleaned the furnace and replaced the filters in furnace and humidifier. Unfortunately because we have an odd size filter he had to put in one smaller than it needs. I signed up for maintenance plan and he said they would put a note in the file to bring correct size in the spring. Overall was pleased with work.

Things went really well. The owner handled the bid personally. He was very fair, honest and easy to work with. He understood the budget constraints and concerns on the project. He knew his equipment and required load per sq. footage. I would highly recommend Hoff Heating and Cooling for any commercial project for a fair and knowledgeable project.

When they came out to install my new units they were on time and very courteous. They listened to me throughout the whole installation and answered any questions that I had.

I like everything about them; if you ask one of the workers to do something while they are here, they get right at it. All the guys that have come out to my home have been super nice and have good customer service. I have used this company for about five years. I pay about $100.00 for the service each year, and I do have a yearly service contract.

He came out within hours. So I did not have to spend the night in a house that was not properly heated. He was very patient with me in explaining everything. It takes awhile to get out to our home so I did not expect them to get out here as quickly as they did.

I was a bit stressed that he recommended I increase the number of intake/outtake by cutting a whole in the floor. However, they cleaned up after themselves well, did an excellent job, and I'd recommend them to everyone!

Service technician was prompt, kind and efficient. He explained the problem and followed through with the solution in a timely manner. I was very satisfied.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD. I ONLY WISH I HAD CALLED THEM FIRST.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THE AIR CONDITIONER HAD RUST ON IT.

TOP QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP. ARRIVED ON THE DAY THEY SAID THEY WOULD AND COMPLETED IN THE TIME FRAME THEY SAID THEY WOULD. I HAVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS.
