When they came out, they called in for claim on my home owners warranty. The claim was denied. I proceeded to call the home owners warranty company and had one of the plummers with me while on the phone. It appears they were shaping the information and the claim with the home owners warranty company knowing a denial would mean they could charge me more for the work. So, they proceeded to price gouge by charging $415 for 30 minutes of work. While in the basement, one worker started screaming at the other worker correcting him on his work. OVERPRICED and NOT PROFESSIONAL!

Don't want to be mean but want you to be aware of my experience. I took off work early and it was a no call no show experience. I wouldn't even be writing this review but I feel I must after I called them and the conversation that I had. The lady was really rude and gave me multiple reasons why they could not show up today. I do understand things happen and I am truly sorry they had problems in their company today but they left me hanging. She told me should would call me right back and she was going to get another repair person for me. Hours later still no phone call. Regardless, they never called me, never left a voicemail and never sent me a text to cancel. They sent me a reminder text to make sure I was home but they didn't have the courtesy to send me a text or even a phone call to cancel. I have reported them to our home warranty company. I am the customer here and this was simply wrong. That is the honest truth.

Above and beyond. Had many people look at this problem and no one could figure it out. APS came and investigated. Instead of walking away not knowing how to fix it, he searched more for a cause of the problem and found rubber from the other cartridge in the pipe! This was a Homeshield warranty contracted call and I’m so happy they called American Plumbing Services. They were quick to schedule an appointment, called when they were on their way and showed up early! Great service and would definitely recommend. THANK YOU.

It was horrible. I had a plumbing leak at my property and they said they would come out to fix it several different times and each time I talk to them they acted like it with the first time we talked. I work without water for a week waiting on them. The last day they stop taking my calls, and just ignored me. This company has a mountain of bad reviews and people should be aware. Stay away from them.

Here's what happened: On a recent Tuesday, our 15-year-old water heater’s pilot light goes out. We have a 2-10 Home Warranty, and I consider filing a claim but the pilot can be re-lit with relative ease. We have to re-light the pilot right before we need hot water, and it goes out on its own within 5-20 minutes. A faulty thermocouple can commonly cause a pilot light problem like that, and can usually be replaced for less than $20 from Home Depot or Lowes. So, I decide to try to replace that. It turns out my particular water heater has a special kind of thermocouple (with a TCO switch) that is not sold at HD/Lowe’s, so I call the manufacturer and they give me the exact part number I need to make the replacement. But by now it’s Thursday, and after two days of limited hot water we need a fix. So, I decide to submit a claim through 2-10 on Thursday mid-afternoon, and get assigned the plumbing contractor we’ve had to use once before* through 2-10, a company called American Plumbing Solutions (APS). By 2-10’s rule, they have 24 hours to get back to me. By Friday at noon, I still haven’t heard back and am worried about having a weekend without hot water, so I call APS. The secretary informs me that they received my claim, but can’t get anyone out to evaluate it until Monday. I tell her that unfortunately this is a problem that’s been going on for too long already, and to please cancel the appointment. She then proceeds to recommend a plumber supply store that would have the exact part I need. So I go there, buy the part, and install it first thing on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the new part does not solve my problem: the pilot can be re-lit and the burner will run, but the pilot still goes out after several minutes. So I take the part out, and replace it with the original. I call APS back, talk to the same secretary (who remembers my call the day prior) and ask to “un-cancel” the warranty claim. She says she had not cancelled it, because she’s dealt with this type of situation before. At the time, I was glad to hear that. She says the plumber from APS will come Monday between 9-11am. Monday morning two APS plumbers arrive an hour early, at 8am. They look at the water heater for about 90 seconds. They don’t even lay their hands or any tools on it, and they mumble to each other under their breath something I can’t hear. One says, “So you already tried to replace the thermocouple?” I say yes, and tell them what I did and that it didn’t work. They say OK, and tell me they’re leaving to go pick up a different part and will be right back. In total, they spend less than 5 minutes in my house. Minutes after they leave, I get a call from 2-10 informing me that my water heater is no longer covered by the warranty because of my attempted fix. In the ensuing 2-3 hour phone call, I come to understand that the APS guys had called 2-10 and said that I had “tampered with the water heater” and that they were not comfortable working on it because they didn’t want to be liable for some damage I may have caused. They were not planning to return. 2-10 interpreted this to mean that (1) the contractor did not believe that the problem with the appliance was due to normal wear and tear, and that (2) my actions constituted “misuse or abuse” of the appliance. Therefore, they refused to cover it. 2-10 refused to send a third party out to evaluate for “misuse or abuse” and refused to give me a list of other local plumbers that I could pay out of pocket to fix the problem. APS set me up for this by recommending a place to buy the part I thought I needed. When they came Monday morning, they probably only looked at the water heater long enough to see it was 15 years old. Their quick calculation was “old water heater” + “thermocouple is not the problem” = “need to replace the whole thing,” and I bet you anything that they feel 2-10 would not adequately reimburse them for a job like that. So they just threw me under the bus and left. Thanks, APS, for leaving me high and dry on a $1700 water heater replacement, despite having paid for a warranty to cover that exact problem. Stay away from this company!!

If I could take stars away, I would. They chipped the corner of my bathroom sink then denied it although I have pictures, my toilet is STILL running (since June, tomorrow is November 1), and the water pressure in my kitchen sink has decreased again. Owner refused to give name and number of insurance company for claim on sink, then told me he would take me to court for defamation if I filed a claim with the BBB or called their insurance company. Owner also yelled at and over me the whole time I was on the phone with him. Rude, unprofessional, dishonest, and pretty much the rapists of the St Louis plumbing industry. STAY AWAY!!!!!! Horrific - They were supposed to come on a Friday, I asked to push it back 1/2 hr, and if they could not I told them I would be there. They said OK.. took off 1/2 day unpaid, they never showed up. Called them they said they would make him come Saturday a.m. He showed up, told me he could NOT drain my water heater, and it would probably be messy. I have carpet on the floor, so I put down several towels. He attempted to get the heating element out, for 15 minutes, with water pouring out of it. He eventually said he would have to come back. He requested my $100.00 service fee, said see you Wednesday. An hour later I was told by 2-10 home warranty he said he could not do the job. HE'S A PLUMBER!!!!! SO I had to call insurance company and schedule another contract for 2 days later. This guy told me he could not drain my water heater. He left and I looked at it, saw the drain and drained it myself.. AFTER he lt half the water out all over my carpet. He did NOT even attempt to stop the water. IT WAS A NIGHTMARE. He basically came to my house took the $100.00 for 15 minutes of work and left told the insurance company he could not do it... AFTER he soaked all my carpet, not to mention he was condescending and a smart ***.

Ken the “plumber” looked at the shower and scratched his head. Said he had to go out to his van and google that particular unit and see what he could find out. 30 minutes later I looked outside and he had left! I called the warranty company and was told that the plumber called them and stated that I told him the shower head had not worked since we moved in, and therefore, it was not covered since all items need to work when the warranty is activated. This was a lie on the plumber’s part- I never told him that. I guess we haven’t taken a shower in 3 weeks....?! He was just too incompetent to know how to fix it. So he made up a lie. He didn’t even have the courtesy or professionalism to knock on our door and tell us he couldn’t fix the unit. Extremely unprofessional company. Folks, when a plumber says he has to go to his van and google something, call another company! Do not use AMERICAN PLUMBING SOLUTIONS.

This contractor as assigned to my service order from 2-10 Home Warranty Company. The contract came to my home to look at my water heater for a replacement. The contractor then went to his van parked in my driveway and called in the claim to 2-10 Warranty center. I next received a call from 2-10 will a list of extra part cost and labor. The labor one kinda made me SMH.. "$50 extra for the second person". The total was over $300 outside of my warranty coverage. At this time, my husband went out to the van and asked why so much was needed. The contractor then stated, "CAUSE THE WARRANTY COMPANY DOES NOT PAY ENOUGH, WE HAVE TO CHARGE THE HOMEOWNER EXTRA!" My husband said he is not going to pay for unnecessary parts due to the fact that the contract doesn't think the warranty company pays them enough to do the work. At this point when my husband returned inside, I called the warranty company back, this contract updated his notes on the account to DENY the CLAIM that the water heater should not be covered under warranty. So not only was he asking for extra payment from the homeowner but then out of spite turned around since we said we were not paying extra changed the diagnosis from replacing the water heater to deny the claim due to improper installation. False information stating that the die lectors union were not present. I can take a picture of them and they are present.

We had a leak in the basement coming from the pipe that runs from the outside. The St. Louis County Public Works Dept. hired this company to fix it. Unfortunately, the leak was in the foundation wall and the city did not cover the cost. However, Ken and Mark worked very hard in 20 degree weather to get the job done. They had to dig a whole and tunnel under the porch while it was snowing. They were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I was very grateful for all their hard work in not so good weather conditions.

No complaint on function of sump pump replacement but when they informed me they would have to cut out dry wall for access for discharge line, I asked them to cut out a clean line (to make it easier to replace). The dry wall they cut was oddly shaped and they didn't leave it for me to work with. In addition, they left no manual for the new sump pump and when I called the company later in the week and requested it, they never returned my call.

American Plumbing Solution was the company provided me by AHS Home Warranty. They arrived within three hours of first call to AHS and assured me twice (they called me and I called back to reconfirm) that would be back by 1:00 pm and I made arrangments to take half day vacation to be home for the work. During my preliminary conversation with them, they were helpful in assisting over the phone to turn off the gas to the draining heater. Ten minutes before they were due at my house, they called to say they would not arrive until the next day, another half day of vacation due lost to their bad scheduling. AHS covered the cost of the new water heater (I do not yet have the receipt for the water heater to register its warranty, but perhaps that comes from AHS). American Plumbing Solution charged me $800 to install the new water heater and dispose of the old. The next morning they installed the water heater; left some mess behind. (The heater installation work was subsequently approved by my local code officials). When they left after the installation, my hot water in the kitchen had no pressure, and little more than a trickle. Worker promptly returned and after approx. 30-45 minutes of working and taking apart the kitchen faucet, he said that the hot water pressure was because my kitchen faucet was old (4 years old) and faulty with accumulated calcium forced into the line from the old water heater (??). Note that the kitchen faucet hot water worked well until American Plumbing Solution worked in my home. When I called American Plumbing Solution to inquire/complain about the kitchen faucet and quot;diagnosisand quot;, Denise, who answers the phone, was very nice and offered to have them return to replace the faucet at no charge. I refused this offer as I was reluctant to accept the diagnosis. The next day, my garbage disposal was jammed and would not work. I called AHS and they sent another plumber from a different company who discovered a set screw lodged into my disposal causing the jam. I surmise that the screw was dropped into the disposal or not secured and fell into my sink. Another half day vacation lost due to American Plumbing Solution. We later discovered that the reason for no hot water was that the hot water line to the kitchen had been turned off and not been turned back on. When we turned the valve, the hot water flow, and therefore the faucet worked well again. Denise tried very hard to resolve problems; but the other issues make her work to satisfy this customer were impossible to overcome. I gave them a C for Quality in the ratings system because despite the other problems and in fairness to them, the work was approved by my municipality.

These guy are the best. I am really particular and know good service when I see it. I was impressed with them from the time they came and gave me an estimate until the job was done. I had several other plumbers come and give me and estimate and they wanted to modify the job to make it work best for them and told me it would not meet city code. But not American Plumbing Solutions, they told me the best way to do the job and that it would meet city code and be done correctly. They even took care of getting the city permit and scheduled the inspection. Their estimate was even a little lower than the others. They came on time and were wearing uniforms. They were neat and well groomed. Can't say that about a lot of plumbers. They brought a quality water heater that was just right for the space and installed it quickly and professionally. They even gave me a tutorial on how to set and use the water heater. For the water heater, expansion tank, permit and labor, they were less expensive than Lowes. The new water lines and drain pipe for the basement kitchen renovation were done right the first time and did not leak at all. My husband looked at them and said it all looked really good. They cleaned up all their mess and were polite and easy to talk to. They even came back at no extra charge to hook up our new sink to the water lines and drain pipe. Denise in the office was great and really cared about our plumbing situation. I have had several plumbers over the years and these guys were by far the best. I can honestly say that you will not go wrong by using American Plumbing Solutions.

The guy did nothing and looked at it and rather than fixing it, he decided to say that the installation did not meet code. I haven't been able to find anyone to tell me that my installation does not meet code as a matter of fact I did all of my personal research in addition to find out whether or not it met code, so I am going to get a second opinion. In my opinion he was either too busy to mess with this or thought maybe I am stupid and I don't know how to fix a garbage disposal. He was going to try and gig him for $365 and that was to replace a garbage disposal and replace piping that is out of code, which actually is not out of code. I would tell others that I would suspect that they may lie to them and tell them that the plumbing work is not neat. They also may try to draw them in towards some expensive repair work that is not necessary. The unfortunate part was that this was just one of their field guys and apparently a master plumber who has been doing the work for 15 or 20 years. I talked to the lady in the office who was extremely helpful and who was willing to remold the schedule so this guy could come out and visit before the holidays. This guy in the field was a total jerk and he spoke like no word, he had an apprentice plumber with him. He looked under my sink for one minute and then walked out to his car and had my home warranty company call and say that this guy is denying me right for a claim because the plumbing work is out of code. They also said that I had to pay $60 coupay for looking at my sink for one minute and he sent his apprentice into collect a check and say nothing. I will never use them again because I can't trust them.

This customer was given a truthful and expert plumbing diagnosis. I did some follow up work to see if the customer had ever called back the home warranty company for their free second opinion and that call was never made. Their notes state that the customer called the home warranty and he said that he was going to do some more research however never followed up with the request. Apparently the customers research shows that the diagnosis given was accurate.
