Lois Keeven is a **** liar, I may have got the date wrong, but I know **** well what service was done. The AC Fan motor was shot, and the fat guy repairman they sent said he would have to replace the fan also. I paid 167.00 and told him to leave, I fixed and replaced the motor myself. All I had to do was cut the fan off from the motor, and knock the drive shaft out. The repairman was to lazy to do that, so that's why I told him to go. $167.00? **** they wont even come to your house for less than that, let alone do any work! All the work he done was take the top of my AC off and replace it!
Description of Work: Ac fan motor was out, and they said the fan had to be replaced also.

We have been using them for a long time. They really know their craft. They have been doing it for a long time, and they keep at it, until they get it fixed. I find them really reliable, they show up when they say they will show up and they get the job done. They are little pricier than their competitors, but that is okay with me, because I have confidence in them.

They were very nice when I first called them. They were hired to do the duct work and do the geothermal system. The system was installed incorrectly and the work was very shotty. It was suppose to be quiet, but my whole house vibrated and my bills were very high. They didn't put down a anti-vibration pad, and then blamed the electic guy. The whole system quit at the two year mark. I had to call someone else to replace the whole thing, and now it's great. They're ingenuine. I had to contact the manufacturer in Florida because they were ignoring me. I had to pay someone else to come look at it, and Keeven only fixed a few of those things. It cost me about $6,000 extra. They had all sorts of excuses. I would not do business with them again.

This client has a previous complaint for the same 2008 install. We did everything possible to satisfy her but after 2 years of free warranty work, we determined we would never make her happy. We brought the manufacturer's rep in many times and when the unit was found to have a manufacturer's defect by us & the representative, the manufacturer would replace the unit but not pay for the labor. The manufacturer's representative never found a problem with our install, but agreed with us that we would never make this customer happy and it would be better if a different company did the warranty replacement. We agreed. Read my response on the previous complaint 2-1/2 years ago. Lois Keeven

I believe this person has us confused with some other company. First of all May 15, 2011 is a Sunday. When I looked up this person, we were last there on July 31, 2008. They did have a condenser fan motor problem and we got the unit going but since it was such an old unit we said if it stopped we would have to order parts. We were there for 1-1/2 hrs & charged $167.00. We have not been back to 501 Royale Dr. since. I even dug up my 2011 time sheets to verify and that is when I dicovered 5-15-11 was a Sunday. I love them. We personally had job done by Keeven. It had been always one of the Keeven brothers who kind of foreman on one of the big installation job. They got it in when they told they would get it in. I got a new furnace with 20 years warranty. They were very personable yet professional. Their price was fair; but they were not the cheapest people out there. In this case, I think I really got what I have paid for. The value wise, I got peace of mind and they had stood behind their products. They did a thing personally for me, was jumping jobs here. They have performed services for me individually in my units. I had new furnace put in couple of years ago, which was more expensive than just the furnace in the common areas which was relatively low expense proposition. We had problem with our heat pack within two years of getting this whole new furnaces. The cost of the heat pack was going to be like $2000 or something. They went back with us with the company that manufactures the heat pack and got them to give us a new heat pack for free, even when it was beyond the warranty period; since it was old. They have my loyalty.
Description of Work: Keeven Heating & Cooling installed new heat pack for the furnace in one of the building for common area during February.

SO OVERALL IT HAS BEEN A MISERABLE EXPERIENCE... I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND KEEVEN TO INSTALL WINDOW A/C.... OR LIKE PHIL SAID .... 'I WOULDN'T LET HIM BUTTER A PIECE OF BREAD WITH A SHARP KNIVE' end of quote.... THEY SURE LIKED TAKING MY $$$ BUT THEY ARE EITHER TOTALLY INCOMPETENT AND/OR JUST DON'T GIVE A RATS!!!! FIND SOMEONE OTHER THAN KEEVEN FOR YOUR GEOTHERMAL NEEDS!!!!!!!!!!!! I STAND BY EVERYWORD IN THIS REVIEW... I DOUBT THAT KEEVEN WILL LIFT A FINGER TO MAKE THIS RIGHT... WHEN I TOLD HIM I WOULD CHRONICLE THIS ON REVIEW SITES HE THREATENED TO SUE ME AND CLAIMED HE HAS A GREAT ATTORNEY... I TOLD HIM I BET HE DOES HAVE A GREAT ATTORNERY AND HE'S PUT HIM TO USE A LOT!!! HE HANGS UP ON ME WHEN I'VE TRIED TO DISCUSS THESE THINGS WITH HIM AND WAS MAD THAT I DIDN'T CALL HIM TO FIX THIS LATEST ISSUE.... I HAVE NO FAITH IN THEIR ABILITY OR THEIR ETHICS.... WHEN I BROUGHT UP THE WATER HEATER ISSUE.... HE JUST BLAMES EVERYONE ELSE AND HANGS UP... CLAIMS I'M THE WORST CUSTOMER HE'S EVER HAD AND THAT I'M FIRED AS A CUSTOMER....HALLELUJAH!!!! PREMIER HEATING AND COOLING FROM ST CHARLES HAD TO COMPLETEY REDO MY WHOLE SYSTEM AT A COST OF $6000. US DOLLARS.. . REPLACED ALL EQUIPMENT AND HAD TO MAKE CHANGES TO THE DUCT WORK SYSTEM AND ADD RETURN AIR IN THREE AREAS IN THE HOUSE BECAUSE KEEVEN WAS TOO INCOMPETENT TO KNOW THIS. AS PAINFUL $$ AND STRESSFUL AS THIS HAS BEEN I AM SO GRATEFUL TO PREMIER FOR THE OUTSTANDING WORK, ETHICS, INTEGRITY AND COMMUNICATION THROUGH OUT THIS WHOLE PROCESS. ALSO FOR REVIVING MY 'DEAD' SYSTEM TEMPORARILY UNTIL THE EQUIPMENT COULD BE REPLACED. I HAVE GIVEN KEEVENS THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPENSATE ME FAIRLY TO NO AVAIL... AS MUCH AS I DISLIKE THE IDEA OF A LAWSUIT THEY ARE LEAVING ME NO CHOICE.... THEY MAY DO A LOT OF VOLUME... BUT THEY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH OTHER CUSTOMERS (FACT) AND THEY JUST DON'T CARE!
Description of Work: I contracted Keeven to install a geothermal closed ground loop system.. From the day I moved it sounded like a thrashing machine, ran constantly, made horrible vibrations noise and my electric bills are higher than bigger houses with conventional systems. I have 2x6 walls, icynene insulation and Marvin windows.. Ameren compared and I was much higher that what a conventional system would have been! AFTER SEVERAL CALLS TO KEEVEN THE LAST STRAW BEFORE I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WAS WHEN THEY SENT OUT AN EVEN MORE INEXPERIENCED TECH AND HE INSISTED THAT IT WAS CONDUIT VIBRATING CAUSING THE PROB..(OF COURSE MR KEEVEN TOLD HIM TO TELL ME THAT) ... CONDUIT HAS NO ENERYGY OF ITS' OWN!!!! HOW STUPID DO THEY THINK I AM... I DO KNOW A LITTLE ABOUT PHYSICS! Keeven laughed at me and made excuses and blamed everthing on the planet on everyone else for this miserable installation and my high bills! I finally had to resort to contacting the mnfg FHP corp offices in Florida... we both then contacted the distributor and I still had to pay a third party ($250.00) to analyse the system..AND ANOTHER $175 later FOR THERMAL IMAGING TO MAKE SURE MY INSULATION WAS GOOD, no leaks or missed spots...it was fine) ONLY AFTER THE $250 REPORT DID Keeven grudgingly make the repairs (BECAUSE THE DISTRIBUTOR MADE HIM) and do things that were manufacturers specs that they had NOT done on initial installation. The system has run for about 15 months but the bills were still very high. . This summer my bills were 30% higher than last year... It wasn't 30% hotter.. A MONTH AGO MY SYSTEM WOULDN'T COME ON AT ALL!!!!! Butterfly energy works recommended Premier Htg and Cooling.... when I explained my continuing saga.... they said something is seriously wrong...(I knew that) and that I would be happy with Premier..... I hired Premier Heating and Cooling from St Charles.. $505.later.. they've informed me that it was a VERY LOW END installation and they "wouldn't let Mike Keeven butter piece of bread and that Keeven is known for low balling price and doing 'low end' installations and Keeven doesn't stand behind their work".... I'm not the first to have this prob with Keeven...... It seems half my freon has leaked out, only 1/3 the return air required for my system was put in and my geothermal loops won't hold their pressure...,. Premier also told me my bills are significantly higher than they should be...so did Butterfly Energy Works.... (their geothermal system is SO quiet you can't hear it. and really low electric bills.. mine are high and the system is still very loud!). Mr Keeven was the most insulting, mean, nasty spirited man I've EVER spoken to... nice as pie, oh so charming when I first contacted them but when my problems started......'ABOUT FACE!!! Summer 08.. Keeven insisted that I had to have Ameren UE come and determine exactly how much energy all my energy star appliances were using.. EXCUSE ME??? I did, and they use next to nothing.. I have spent countless hours trying to get this resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There have been MANY problems with this system but here's a couple for example.... Mike Keeven blamed the electrician for using non flexible conduit which he claimed made all the noise... the reason there was noise was because Keeven didn't install the mnfg spec anti vibration pad ....Keeven also installed my system anyway knowing full well that the plumber put in the wrong kind of water heater and didnt tell me or the builder that it was a problem and would cause issues... I still have the wrong water heater but they 'jerry rigged' something so my geothermal now doesnt' provide me as I've been told with the hotwater assistance that it was supposed to... NICE HUH?!.. When I asked him why he went ahead and hooked everything up anyway he said...and I quote..."If you wanted me to hold your hand and babysit you through this whole process then you should have paid me a consulting fee!!" end of quote.... NICEST GUY EVER... NOT!!!!!... The unit is going to be replaced by the mnfg... I will have to pay for the labor and added duct work to bring the other 2/3 return air I'm short. ( system works way harder than it should have had to and usable life has been shortened) I feel that Keeven should pay to cover the cost of the duct work they shorted me and the labor to install the replacement unit..... The well driller is very cooperative (Wideman) in what ever they may need to do where the loops are concerned... When I told him about the things Mike and Ron Keeven have said to me ... Bob Widemans response was that he knows (has heard Mike in person) how they have talked to people before and it came as NO surprise that he talked to me like that...... NICE GUYS HUH?! Mike never did do his own J manual calculations, he relied on another contractors (this was confirmed by John from Benoist Bros, (the distributor) and Keeven bad mouths the contractor who's calculations he used... The receptionist also lied when she said his J manual calculations crashed inside Mikes computer.... As of this writing his last 'fib' was about 2 weeks ago... Mike is still insisting that the anti vibration pad only became part of the manufacturers specs after my system was installed.... Paul from the FHP corporate office has verified yet again that it's been a requirement since the 1980's!!!! Phil at Premier has also said that MIke is very upset because I've made public just how badly he 'f'd' up and he's not happy with me about blowing the whistle..... If Keeven's had addressed all of this early on in an ethical and respectful manner we wouldn't be where we are now!!!! But when you insult my intelligence.lie to me and when I have to spend $1000 post installation to try and get this remedied.... plus all the extra utlities cost.........IT DOES NOT MAKE FOR A SATISFIED CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!.. Mike is grousing because he thinks I owe him money because he replaced that piece of non flexible conduit... I will never pay him for that....IF HE WERE REALLY THE PROFESSIONAL HE CLAIMS TO BE..... HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD MY CONTRACTOR TO HAVE THE ELECTRICIAN CHANGE IT (or tell the electrician... novel idea huh?) WHEN THE HOUSE WAS BUILT.... SAME THING FOR THE WATER HEATER!!!! THAT'S WHAT A TRUE PROFESSIONAL WOULD HAVE DONE! IT'S CALLED ETHICS AND TAKING PRIDE IN YOUR WORK AND LOOKING OUT FOR YOUR CLIENTS BEST INTEREST!!!!! MAKING SURE THE JOB IS DONE RIGHT!!!! REMEMBER... MIKE SAID...."IF YOU WANTED ME TO HOLD YOUR HAND AND BABYSIT YOU THROUGH THIS THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY ME A CONSULTING FEE TO TALK TO THE PLUMBER AND BUILDER"....... MIKE AND RON KEEVEN HAVE SHOWN ME THAT THEY COULDN'T CARE LESS! THANK GOD I'VE GOT PREMIER STRAIGHTENING THIS MESS OUT!!!! THEY HAVE TALKED TO ME HONESTLY AND RESPECTFULLY..... AND ASSURED ME THAT WHEN THIS IS DONE RIGHT... I WILL LOVE MY SYSTEM.... \ I'VE COVERED THE BASICS OF THIS SITUATION.... . I AM SORRY FOR MYSELF IN THIS MISERABLE SITUATION... BUT I FEEL MORE SORRY FOR KEEVEN AND THE VERY POOR REPUTATION THEY HAVE EARNED FOR THEMSELVES WITH ME (OTHER CUSTOMERS) AND MORE IMPORTANTLY THEIR PEERS IN THIS INDUSTRY!. THEY ARE NOT WELL THOUGHT OF AND THE MNFG IS NOW AWARE OF PROBLEMS WITH KEEVEN.... ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME ISSUES SHOULD CONTACT FHP.... MAYBE THEY WILL BAN KEEVEN FROM FURTHER GIVING THEIR PRODUCT BAD NAME..... I NOW KNOW IT ISN'T THE PROD BUT THE INSTALLERS!!! I THOUGHT I WAS DOING THE 'GREEN THING'.... HAD I KNOWN IT WAS GOING TO BE THIS MISERABLE I WOULD HAVE GONE CONVENTIONAL!!! I WILL BE SO GLAD WHEN I HAVE REALLY GOOD SYSTEM THAT WORKS AND THIS HOUSE WILL BE COMFORTABLE INSTEAD OF HOT AND COLD SPOTS AND HIGH BILLS!

Response from Keeven Heating and Cooling
In response to a complaint by the member, there are several untruths in her complaint. We did install a 3 ton FHP geothermal heating and cooling system in her new home completed on March 10,2008. We were back numerous times over the next several months in response to complaints. Twice we repaired leaks on the plumber's pipes connected to our geothermal desuperheater by her plumber. Twice over thermostats reprogramming since she or someone was messing up the program. She finally told us to replace the thermostat with a non programmable stat which we did (at no charge). She repeatedly complained about excessive noise and high electric bills. She operates a beauty parlor on one end of the house unknown to us when we quoted the job. We checked the system out each time we were there and found no problem with the system. We did find that her electrician had run his electric to our unit in rigid pipe and wedged it between the supply & return duct. We told her on 5-8-08, to have him change it to flexible pipe and this would solve the noise. On 7-25-08, we did a full amperage draw on our entire system and all was in range per the manufacturer. She didn't believe us, and after 2 more warranty calls, she called FHP to check out our install. On 11-13-08, John from Benoist (FHP) met us at the site. We had discussed the job with him previously. That day we installed a compressor blanket, rubber pads under the unit, & insulated the bonnet. Her electrician had never returned to correct the rigid conduit so we changed it to flex conduit. She was told by John that day there were no problems with the equipment or our install. We give a one year labor warranty which ended on March 10,2009. We continually got calls & emails from her saying she had Ameren out & thermal imaging done but she never could produced any proof when we asked for the print out for ALL her appliances. She did say the Ameren man told her the curling irons she uses in the beauty parlor only cost her 8 cents a month???? Finally on 11-13-09, we & the FHP service tech went back and put a kilowatt meter on the unit to prove the FHP unit was not drawing excessive electricity which we did. While we were there we found (not Bruce Zebel) her water heater (installed by her plumber) was short cycling constantly turning on & off & drawing a lot of electricity. We told her to have the plumber check out if his unit was compatible with a geothermal system. (That water heater is still there). We sent a bill for 1 hr labor- not the 3 hours we were there since this was 1 year & 8 months after we completed the job .. She emailed back the attached. We thought we had finally satisfied her. Of course she never paid the bill. We have not been back to the property since 11-13-09. She called Mike Keeven on a Saturday and said her unit was not running and wanted to know what was wrong. Mike told her it sounded like the compressor isn't running and that she needed a service call. She didn't think she should have to pay for a service call. Mike told her the system was over 2 years old & out of labor warranty. The next thing we heard was from John at Benoist that she paid another company to check out the system and put in freon. He went to the site with the other company and found a leak in the factory coil. . John from Benoist said FHP was going to replace it under warranty but not the labor. On November 26,2010, she called & emailed at 7:38 PM that she wanted us to come put the warranty unit in free. She sent another email at 7:55 PM saying we had to make this system right. We did not make the unit. It had a manufacturer's defect. There was no installation error as John from Benoist told her on 11-13-09. He told her no company gives more than a year labor warranty. In email she says she spent $1000.00, but in her complaint to Angie's list, she states she wants $5800 to $6000. Does this make sense? With forty years in the HVAC business, we have never had a customer expect as much as she does. Lois Keenan-Secretary
