Installed a faulty water heater- refused to come back out to fix it. Stopped answering phone calls and text messages. Learned from another plumber that this guy is NOT certified and can't even operate within Nevada City limits. Took his money and ran. Don't give him any chances to take you cash and go.

On August 20th, I filed a home warranty claim with my warranty company for an AC that kept freezing up. The warranty company called A+ Heating Cooling & plumbing to do the job. He came out, with his children, and said the unit was low on coolant but he topped it off and didn't expect it to freeze up again. While they were there, his child asked about someone else servicing the AC, told them no one else had touched it since it had been installed by them a couple years before. His child then said, "Oh that's our bad then" and left. The AC froze the very same day. We called him and he said I'll have to order a coil under the manufacturers warranty. For the next 5-6 weeks, we were left in 100+ degree days without AC. We would call him and the warranty company. He would say the coil just hasn't come in yet, when it does I'll call you. The warranty company would say they had spoken with them and he still hadn't received the parts. Finally, on September 28th, I had enough. I called my home warranty and requested either a new contractor or reimbursement for me to pay a different contractor. They obliged. I also told them to notify this contractor that he is not to come to my home and they should not send him to my home ever again. I received my reimbursement offer on September 30th and they emailed him and the 29th to inform him he was no longer contracted for the job. I had spoken to a new contractor on September 28th and the new contractor had called the distributor to see if a part had been ordered. No part had been ordered for my unit. James with A+ never ordered the part and had been lying to us for weeks. The new contractor came out to inspect the unit and run diagnostic to verify the issue and when he called the distributor to place the order, the distributor notified him that A+ had ordered the part on the 30th, after he found out he lost the job. My new contractor had informed the distributor that he was doing the job now and would pick up the coil. When the coil came in, James with A+ went and picked up the coil and told the distributor that he had spoken with me and he was doing the job the next day. I hadn't heard from him. I actually learned about this situation from my new contractor. I called James and told him he was not the contractor for the job anymore and he needed to return the coil. He told me that my warranty company told him he was still doing it and he'd just talked to them. A short while later I received a call from my warranty company stating that James would not return the coil because he'd done so much work to try and get it and my contractor wouldn't be able to get a coil any quicker than he did. They told me that the part was linked to my serial number so the part was legally mine and I could file a report if I wished. James continued back and forth with the warranty company to attempt to lie, manipulate and bully his way into this job and getting paid for work he never completed. He was going to keep my part hostage until he got his way. Not knowing what to do, I called the distributor myself and he sent me an email with the timeline of essentially the theft of my part so that I could prove it to my warranty company. The distributor stepped up and did a wonderful job working with me and my new contractor to get the coil back. I won't let this man in my home anymore. He is so dishonest and, in my opinion, based on the facts of my situation and reading other reviews, he's a crook. Beware. I've notified the Better Business Bureau as well.

James and his crew were referred by my home warranty company when we had a stoppage issue, and after trying to auger it became apparent that the main drain line had collapsed. My wife is a gardening enthusiast and the route from the existing drain to the sewer main would have destroyed a large portion of her garden, so James and his guys pulled off a minor miracle to cut in from the side and run a new line without damaging ANY of her plants. They really went out of their way and worked harder than they were obligated to work to protect our property, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

James Reiff seems like a nice guy and I didn't want to destroy anybody's business but I feel it wouldn't be fair to others to have to go through what I did. So here's my story. I have a rainwater cistern to supply my house with all water except for drinking water. I accidentally broke a piece of pipe and needed to replace the outflow pipes which lead into the water pump but the last piece of pipe was stuck. I called A+ Heating Cooling and Plumbing to have it fixed. He said he would be out Monday afternoon. (Oct 15) I waited until after dark and finally called James back. He said that he had had car trouble and would come tomorrow. So he "fixed" my pipe while was at work the next day and I mailed him a check a couple of days later. Meanwhile I waited for it to rain to refill my cistern. It was supposed to rain the day after but it didn't. So I waited for another 10 days for rain but never seemed to get more than a sprinkle, or so I assumed, because when I checked there was never any water in my cistern. On my next day off (Friday Oct. 26) I decided to put some water in it from the house next door. (my parents old house) But as I started putting water in I noticed that the valve in the pipe was cracked and water was running out. (it was not cracked before he started I know because I took it off) So I stopped putting water in and called James. He said something like "I was afraid of that" and said that it would be Sunday (Oct 28) before he could get here. So I waited. Sunday came and went and I called James and he said that he had forgotten and that he would come Monday afternoon. So when I got home from work on Monday nothing was fixed. So I called James again. But this time I had to leave a message on his machine. He never called me back. So I called him every day sometimes twice a day for the next 4 days. But I never heard anything back and he never answered his phone. So the next Saturday I finally decided to just cut off the valve that James broke and had glued on went to the hardware store and bought a whole new set of fittings and valve and put them on myself. So even though he did do some work for the money I paid him, I still feel a little cheated because his end product was a broken pipe. And what was worse was that instead of being a professional and either paying me back the money that I had paid him or fixing the parts that he broke, he just didn't answer his phone or his phone messages. So I ended up with a broken valve and lived without water for 3 FULL WEEKS! (a fact that I mentioned several times on his answering machine) So I would say that if you hire A+ Heating Cooling and Plumbing out of Nevada Missouri, that you are taking a risk that the outcome will be done right or maybe not done at all. Too bad I paid him before I had a chance to try it out. Luckily I found this out before I was going to hire them to do a couple more bigger jobs for me.

James Reiff installed a central heating and air conditioning system in my mother's house. I currently live out of state, and James professionally managed the entire project with just a few phone calls. My mother is very pleased with his service. Everything was done for the price estimated, and the entire system has worked flawlessly since he installed it. My mother is very comfortable with her new system in the hot Missouri summers, and I don't worry about her in the winter with a new and safe heating system. I trust James and recommend him to all my family and friends in the area.
Description of Work: Disconnected old heating system, and installed a completely new central heating and air conditioning system, including electrical panel upgrade and wiring as required.

Description of Work: When asked to estimate a sewage line repair, James Reiff, owner of A plus Heating, Cooling, & Plumbing, gave an estimate of 1500 dollars to replace one 4 inch pvc pipe and snake the existing line. Needless to say, his estimate was extremely high and he appeared to be under the influence when we spoke. I was able to get a diffrent company to come do the work needed for 50. that company is Long and Sneed , now my plumbing is working great. one more think, i was taken advantantage of a couple other times by james reiff owner of a+heating cooling and plumbing before i caught on to his dishonest ways......

Response from A+ Heating, Cooling & Plumbing
Member, I want to personally apologize for your frustration with A+ Heating Cooling and Plumbing. This job was previously snaked by A+ before this service call as requested, but that did not resolve the problem. We estimated $1,500 for a total sewer line replacement from the house to the center of the street, which included the street repair required by the town of Nevada. This was a fair estimate for the work that was required to completely resolve your issue. A second estimate of $65 was given to snake the line again, which is comparable to the service you had done. We welcome good competition, and I am glad that you are satisfied with the service you received from another company. I want to re-assure all new and existing customers that I never work under the influence. This was a poor assumption made by this customer. Thank you for your consideration, James Reiff - Owner

Checked Angie's List for rating on this service provider. Called for estimate. Came out two days later, gave estimate, did work following day for exact amount of estimate. Left work areas as they had found them. Very satisfied and would highly recomend this service provider.

The work was done quickly, he cleaned up after all the messes the instalation made, kept me informed of what was going on. I was very pleased with the services i got for the price. I have had no trouble with my unit what so ever, and the greatest thing is the reduced utility bills, i got just the right size of unit for the size and usage in my home.
Description of Work: Installed in 2 days an energy efficient heating unit inside the house and an air unit outdoors. I was very pleased with how quickley it was installed, His workers were friendly and got right to work. My utility bills have greatly improved. He even constructed walls around the indoor unit making it blend right in with the room, i was so pleased with that. Having server indoor allergies i need to keep filters clean, He took the time to instruct me on how to replace my filters ,what sizes i would need, and how often it needed to be done to obtain optimal performance of my unit.
