The road works, but does not look good. The tar under-coat is plainly visible in many places because they only put one thin layer of tar & chip stone over about half of the job vs 2 layers on half. This difference came about because I agreed to an upsell near the end of the original job. They verbally offered me a reduced price to finish another area I wanted done (but could not originally afford), because they said they had "left over material" and "their equipment was on site." I had a contract for the original part of the job, but unwisely assumed the added work would be done the same as the original contract work (which was for 2 layers). It was not. When I complained about the noticeable difference between the areas, they informed me they were only putting one layer on the added area. They refused to abide by the contract saying it only applied to the original area. If I hired them again I would ensure a written contract for everything, especially upsell jobs, and I would not pay them in full up front. Under those conditions I believe they would do a good job.

I think Jerome and Ollie are great people. They are aware I was (and am) disappointed in the finished look of the driveway. My reason is because they put a much thinner layer of chip stone on the back part of the driveway vs the front. There are still spots so thin (lacking chip) that the tar is clearly visible. Plus, there is a noticeable drop-off at the front to back transition point on the circle which looks bad (less than professional) in my opinion. When I pointed out my concerns and asked them to remedy the matter, they declined to do so, However, on a positive note, the driveway, as is, seems to be holding up well since it was installed 2 years ago. It is serving its purpose, and we like it better than the former road base driveway. It just did not (and does not) look like a quality finished product. I believe ATX will do a good job for any client per the agreed contract. My recommendation to anyone planning to put in a chip-seal drive is to clearly specify everything, such as, desired driveway thickness, or the number of layers to be done, etc.. Also, be aware that grass & weeds will still grow through such a driveway, which is nature, and not the fault of the contractor. Be prepared to invest in lots of roundup and a good pump sprayer.

Our gravel driveway was washed out from recent storms and flooding. ATX resurfaced 9000 square feet and applied two coats of tar and decorative pebble stones. The work was completed quickly and right on schedule, their bid per square foot was the lowest and included two coats vs, one coat from other bids, and the workmanship was excellent. The tar treatment will prevent flooding or washout issues in the future - highly recommended for anyone with an unfinished gravel driveway.

Came to the job site didn't come up to the office to discuss. Called us later to request an email to send the quote to, was told they were sending it right then. I had to call back the day after to figure out why i didnt have it yet, they informed that they were sending it this morning, and then hung up on me. The quote was in the body of an email that only had 3 bullet points and a total cost. Each line item wasnt broken out individually as to how they came up with that number. It was very unprofessional. Would NOT recommend.

Response from ATX Asphalt Paving
Per our conversation I was under the impression I was meeting someone on the job site so I could be shown exactly what was needed when I arrived there was no one there I tried calling you several times with no response So i went ahead and measured the area. the bid was delayed a day due to unexpected circumstances when you called the next morning it was sent right over, I apoligize if you thought I hung up on you I would have no reason to do that to a potential customer. I also apoligize for any miscommunications we have had on this project.

Due to the wet spring weather the planned start date slipped a little but then I had to move it because of business travel. Once they got started, everything went great. They graded and leveled the old gravel driveway that had washed due to the heavy spring rains. Then applied 2 layers of chip seal and the new driveway looks great. I was originally planning to just have it graded and re-graveled but after talking with Jerome, decided it would be worth the extra cost to do the chip seal and it was. Jerome, Ollie and the rest of the crew were very professional and polite.

Description of Work: Supposed to dig out old broken asphalt, put down "base and new asphalt". On one section |they did not dig out old just one layer on top and within a month it had already broken down and now lots more sections have broken down - they said they would repair but have not. They were very friendly but their system did not work for our application.

They just stopped by the house to see if they could sell services to me for driveway repair. I am usually leery of that sort of approach but they seemed honest and it was something I had planned on doing anyway. The work was well done and I will have them back out to finish the project. Since it was a cold-call they did not have enough material on the truck to complete the work. I thought the price was okay but had been quoted less from previous companies but who knows, maybe the others use inferior materials. What these guys do is not easy and I appreciate the results.

Great experience from beginning to end. I called Jerome on a Saturday and he came over within 1 hour to provide me with an estimate. He gave me a competitive bid (as I had sought 2 other bids) the same day. He told me he would start the work the Tuesday after next. He confirmed that he'd be there the Monday prior, but warned me that the weather could affect the work. On Tuesday, he arrived promptly, but the weather was not looking good so he told me we should give it a couple of days. He called me each day to let me know we were still scheduled. It finally looked like the weather wouldn't cooperate, so we agreed to delay to the following week. Again, he called me the day before, then arrived promptly and got the work done. My driveway looks great and now I have more space to accommodate visitors! I appreciated the frequent communication and responsiveness of ATX and would recommend them highly for driveway sealing.

We received quotes from 3 different companies before hiring ATX to do the work we wanted. Price wise, they were in the middle of the 3. Jerome and his crew stood out from the others by showing up on time, providing a thorough estimate, displaying total professionalism, and having excellent references. The work was completed ahead of schedule to our complete satisfaction. We will be calling them again to finish the rest of the property when the time comes.

I needed a gravel driveway replaced. They recommended a chip/seal. The driveway has a bit of a grade to it and once it was completed, the chip/seal was to loose. They came back out and looked, could see where the tires were spinning and agreeded it needed to be tightened. I finally gave up on them coming out to fix it after many promises it would be next week. These guys have a few different companies set up and suspect including WC Asphalt and Jerome Jefferry Asphalt. Just be wary.
Description of Work: Although he did not perform the service, I made my check out to him through a company called WC Asphalt. It looks like these guys have a few different company names. I needed a chip/seal driveway and it wasnt done properly.

Called the company and they were very responsive on the quote. They showed up within an hour. I had asked for asphalt repair (I had a section breaking off) and they recommended and quoted filling in bad areas with base and chip sealing the driveway. They quoted $5500 and said it would take 1-2 days to finish the product. They cleaned the old asphalt with blowers. They brought in road base and started to level out the low spots and bad spots in the asphalt. They sprayed the liquid asphalt down and put the final rock layer. The driveway has two sections and they completed one section first. I was told I could drive on it immediately and that it was completely cured. I checked the work and found that I could remove the rock with my fingers. I called the owner and asked to meet him and inspect the road before proceeding to the second part. He changed his story and told me now it takes a few days to cure. Since I am not a road expert, I searched the web and found information about when to set the rock and what temperatures to lay the liquid asphalt. The owner told me these were incorrect (they were from a Department of Transportation Website for a state), but finally admitted the rock was not supposed to come out by hand. He said to correct the problem, he would re-tar the road and add new chip to the top. I agreed and they came back a few days later to complete the job. The owner looked upset and told me that the first part of the driveway was fine and it was going to cost him an additional $700 and he now was not making money on this job. (this was after he agreed the job was substandard and agreed to repair it). They finished the job, and it look good. When I was paying the second half (final half) of the payment, he asked if I would pay for the additional $700 of material he had to buy to repair the error that he caused. I told him I would not, but I would pay him 100% of what he quoted. He brought by an invoice the next day that showed paid in full, but had a notation that said "thanks for helping with the $700". This was very unprofessional. They picked up their equipment while I was gone, and left 2 piles of rock in my yard to clean up. I believe the road is good now, but felt I should not have to be an expert in road repair so I could know whether the job they were doing was correct or not. I think the way they handled their error was unprofessional, and I believe the way they did not clean up was a poor ending to the project.

Jerome was a polite, honest, dependable hard worker who wanted to do a good job. When it was obvious that one seal coat was not enough, he was more than fair in his estimate for a second application. He was true to his word to return the next day and finish the job. Jerome has years of experience and knowledge in paving work. I would recommend him as a reliable resource. Grateful in Austin, TX
Description of Work: Jerome Jeffery of ATX Asphalt Paving repaired and sealed over 5400 sq. ft. of our older driveway. The initial estimate ($1700) included cleaning the driveway, fixing cracks and potholes, and spraying a seal coat. The driveway was in worse shape than anticipated and truly needed a second seal coat which required another estimate.

The job went very well. The first order of business was cleaning the driveway surface using a blower. This was followed by the use of a high pressure sprayer applying a sealant coat to the asphalt. They were very carefull spraying in that there were no over runs onto the grass, shrubs or concrete. Ollie (owner) inspected the driveway and had additional sealant added where needed. I am a very satisfied customer and will use them again.
Description of Work: Ollie the owner of Jeffery's Paving applied a sealant coat to the driveway and placed liquid rubber in the joints between the pavement and concrete.
