 + -1 moreAsk to purchase and new wood stove from them and have them install it. They visited the house and said no problem. Then disappeared never to be seen again. If they didn't want to do it they should have said so. Called and ask about it only to be misled. I would advise staying away from this group.

Description of Work: This review is ONLY for wood stove installation. They may be fine at other jobs. The price ended up being about $600 over quote. The installer was not knowledgeable about chimney pipe required clearance (a most important safety consideration). They left the chimney pipe resting against wooden beams (2" clearance is required). When challenged, the installer said only 1/2" clearance was required. When I showed him the manufacturer's own literature, the installer said it must be a recent change. The pamphlet was at least 3 to 4 years old. Finally, the installer said they MIGHT be able to give me 1/2" clearance. But they couldn't do anything that day. I phoned and told them not to come back. We had already paid the bill. Most of it was for equipment, which was fine and we didn't mind paying for that. We wrote the rest off to experience. I did not want them to come back. | |They were very concerned about the appearance of the stovepipe (black pipe) descending from ceiling to stove and made sure that looked just right. However, ceiling to roof was a disaster. | |Admittedly, our old house was a challenge with its aged, off-center beams, but they should have refused the job rather than making a poor attempt and calling it good enough. We got the job done, but it was not finished by Controlled Aire.

 + -1 moreWe have spent quite a bit of money with this contractor. They were out at our residence when they said they would be to install it; but, their original estimate was for 16 hours and they did not require that estimated time to finish the work.......BUT, they still charged us for the full 16 hours even though they were only there for about 10. When we called and inquired, we were told that we agreed to the "estimate" and if they finished early that was to their benefit. So, we had to pay the additional $75/hour for approximately 6 hours that they did not work. Makes me wonder how many hours we have paid for in the past that they may have overcharged us for.

 + -1 moreThis company was wonderful! We woke up one morning and didn't have any heat. We had our grandchildren staying with us. We called and explained the situation to Controlled Aire. They were here within an hour and looked at our furnace. They fixed it temporarily but told us we would need a new fan for the furnace. About two weeks later, it went out again. This was on a Sunday and they came back out replaced the fan. I couldn't believe they would come out on a Sunday. We had about a foot of snow on the ground. We were very grateful for their service. They gentleman that came out was the owner. We spent approximately $175.00 to get our furnace repaired. I would recommend this company to anyone. I will use them again for any other heating and air conditioning problems we have.
