Had a long list of things that needed to be done to get PC up and running again, incl. additional hardware etc., all in all coming to a sizeable order. Took the PC to another shop, none of the required work was necessary. Installed OS for $99 and I was on my way. Rip-off artists. Confronted them and they were quick to refund me my money. Seemed familiar to them. Also, son was solicited to join the NRA whilst in the shop maybe by customer, or employee.

I chose J & B Technologies shop as they were right by my work, so it was easy access to drop it off. They told me that it had a bad mother board and so they dismembered all the parts. The mother board was fine when I dropped it there. They attempted to fix the problem. However, I didn?t get any service but they still charged me $50. It took me three weeks to get the computer back because it had been taken apart. I kept trying to go and pick it up but it was never ready. I felt that the shop was disorganized. They had computer equipments everywhere. I thought that their price was high. I?m not going to use them in the future.
Description of Work: I used J & B Technologies, which is a computer shop. I took my computer to fix the chord to plug it in. I visited them yesterday to get my computer back.

After being notified that the service was completed, I picked up my computer, brought it home and connected the printers and other devices previously connected. The computer could not be started so I called the serviceman at J&B who told me I could disconnect and check each device or bring the computer back for him to check out. Either choice would be very difficult for me to do so I called a computer consultant to my home and he found that the computer would not start up because most of the program software had been removed and after he reinstalled them it started up OK. After he left and I started to use the computer I noticed that all of the CARBONITE back-up protection (which I bought 6 months ago) had been removed including its software thus preventing the reinstallation of the protection. I then again called Rob, the serviceman at J&B, to report this problem and his response was "Well, I don't like Carbonite - I don't think it is very good." I then had to contact CARBONITE Company to explain my problem and arrange for recovery of the program I had previously purchased. J&R has a good reputation, as far as I know, and my previous dealings with them were satisfactory. However, I am disappointed and disturbed by the way this service was handled. There was no need for them to go into the programs for the work I requested and I am more disturbed by the cavalier attitude that Rob's opinion of CARBONITE should over ride my selection of it. I do not seek any resolution or any further action on my behalf, but I do feel that the shabby manner in which my problem was handled should be pointed out.
Description of Work: A CD disc shattered inside the CD/DVD drive tray of my computer so I took the computer to J&B TECHNOLOGY to have the CD/DVD tray cleaned or replaced. At the same time I asked to have a wireless card installed to accommodate the installation of U-VERSE service.

My laptop had a power problem--it wouldn't recharge. As soon as I told them the type of computer, they guessed the problem. However, they wanted to check to see whether it was the connection or the mother board. I paid $49 for the diagnosis which would go toward service performed. After examining the laptop, they told me that the manufacturer should fix it for free. Having not much luck getting through to the manufacturer, I called them back. This is the best thing they did--they gave me the phone number that professionals get, and I was able to finally get through. They were very professional and helpful. I appreciated that they helped me to get the computer fixed at no charge. If I have another problem, I would trust them completely.

My brother, who does NOT specialize in this field but likes to tinker around with computers, was able to recover three files (videos) and ?locate? about 30 but could not get to them, so my brother suggested I get professionals to retrieve those and more. I brought the laptop in to J&B, paid them the $80, was told they would get to it later that day or tomorrow (that was after I told them it was not a rush job but looking for my data back too). I then waited one week for them to finally call and say they could not recover a single file! They offered to send it to a cleanroom in Denver starting around $700 or more for them to try because they can do more and they work with this good company all the time. Well, if J&B could do nothing, I was not going to trust their judgement on another company. I told them I would pick up my laptop and find someone else. I tried to get the name of the software they used but they said they do not disclose that information. I found later that many places do not even charge a penny if they do not recover anything too!
Description of Work: My laptop hard drive was erased by another family member, so I needed a service that specializes in computer data recovery.

They are very service orientated. They build and design computers to meet your need and budget. They absolutely know what they are doing and they are people that work with you. They will come to the house to service computers. They are very responsive to any problems you run into and take the time to answer any questions.
