Please be patient and read to the end. It is truly in your best interest. In August I purchased my first home only to discover the plumbing in the master bathroom was in such disrepair the parts could no longer be ordered. I purchased a new Roman Tub Faucet to be installed. Next, I came to Angie’s list and after reviewing the choices, along with the reviews, I selected Buser Plumbing. He was quite polite on the phone and came on the same day. After taking the old faucet off and examining the situation, he determined the Roman Faucet I purchased was more sophisticated than need be. Therefore, the plan was for me to return my purchase while he selected a better choice and return the following morning. I went upstairs to the master bath every hour or so because it was taking an unusually long time to switch out a faucet. He was obviously working very hard as it appeared progress of some sort was being made. Eventually, he started taking tools out to his truck and returned with a bill for $750.00 of which $300+ was for the faucet itself. When I questioned why the labor was so high he showed me where he decided to put in shut off valves on both the hot and cold water lines, had done something to the shower, etc. He was talking in circles and the next thing I know he was out the door. The following morning I started to give the bathroom a good clean. WOW! I was shocked to discover that when I put my hand on the shower valve it was very hot, along with all the other faucets and the worst of all even the toilet bowl. I could not even brush my teeth in the sink because the water was too hot. I put on rubber gloves and still the water was so hot that I could barely clean. Needless to say I called Buser immediately and said we needed to get this corrected immediately before the bowl cracked in the toilet as it was china not marble like the tub and sink. Initially he tried to put me off and act like it was nothing until he realized I was not going to let it drop. We then momentarily discussed cost until I reminded him that he caused the problem and needed to fix it at his expense not mine. I had not asked him to do any of the other tasks that he took it upon himself to do. Buser told me a lot of people like to have hot water readily available on the second floor so they don’t have to wait for it to warm up. First and foremost, I did not ask for that to be done and secondly, I did not want to be paying for hot water to be sitting in those pipes 24/7 and not being used. Reluctantly, he said he would be over in a few hours. When he arrived he was less that friendly but went directly upstairs. [Prior to this, there was no damage whatsoever to the wall so I have enclosed a photo of the damage he did to the drywall on this visit.] About 45 minutes passed and he came downstairs and sat down in my kitchen as if we were going to have coffee and proceeded to say he did not know how to fix it. He indicated he had contacted several plumber friends and they did not know either. I informed him that the problem still remained his because it was not that way before he came. Next, he told me that I also now have no shower at all because he unhooked it and it could not be reversed! By now I was close to tears and so distraught because I had no idea how I would fix or pay for this mess when he comes up with the most brilliant idea of all. On the backside of the shower is my bedroom wall and the entire wall has built in storage by St. Louis Closet Company. He wanted me to take out the custom cabinetry so he could get into the back side of the shower wall! Then I started to get a lesson on how anyone knows when they build a house to leave access to the plumbing, etc. Last Straw!!! I told him I just needed him to get out of my house. He still kept trying to convince me to remove the built in cabinets and he would not charge me to do the plumbing but I would have to get someone to do the woodworking . . . honestly, I just kept repeating, “I just need you to get out of my house. I just need you to get out of my house.” He left. I cried. Now unfortunately, funds have been very tight with the move and other unexpected expenses and the check I gave him did not clear. I was very embarrassed but also felt it gave me some time to determine how I wanted to handle the situation. I had decided I would definitely pay for the parts and estimate how much it should actually cost just to do what I had hired him to do and nothing else. My first concern though was to get that hot water out of that toilet bowl as the temperatures were rapidly dropping. I hired a very knowledgeable plumber from Certified Plumbing and Drain Specialists who knew exactly what to do and had the hot water dilemma resolved within an hour. In the meantime, Mr. Buser may not have known how to fix the mess he left in my bathroom but he knew exactly what to do with my returned check. He held it until the first day of the month when Medicare checks come in and deposited it again. The entire amount went through without one word of notification from him of his plan. Nor was there any attempt to settle on a different amount for the labor he was never asked to do. I am an honest person and have never written a review about anyone. However, I do not recommend anyone ever hire this man to work for you. He took apart pipes that he knew would cost more money to repair, he added expensive shut-off valves, used incorrect materials, completely unhooked my shower so that it would be a major expense to ever be able to have one, but worst of all, he thought he deserved to be paid the full amount for a job he admittedly stated, “I don’t know how to fix.” And who is left with fixing the drywall? Paying another plumber to do what I originally asked to be done? Larry Buser did not demonstrate one bit of remorse or interest in doing the honorable thing. It makes me wonder how many customers he has created more of a problem for so he could come back and make more money like he tried with me. I would be happy to discuss this further with anyone or give you the name of a reputable plumbing business that have gone out of their way to help me out of this mess Buser Plumbing has created.
Description of Work: I asked for a Roman Tub Kit to be installed. I received much more. Shut off valves were installed, the shower was permanently disabled, hot water came out of every faucet and even the toilet bowl, dry wall was damaged with no offer of repair/apology or acknowledgement, and the list goes on. I would never recommend this business to anyone based on integrity, honesty, professionalism or fair price. Read my story below to make your own decision but certainly beware before you hire.

Fabulous!!! I called Larry and found him to be thoughtful, methodical, and during our first call, he took his time, asked great questions, and was able to arrive at our home in less than an Hour. Larry arrived on-time as-promised, he assessed our plumbing issue, and did a magnificent job replacing the necessary parts. Larry also found several other things that required attention, and he didn't charge a penny more for the extra work. My wife and I are Proud to say that we not only met a great plumber today, but we would also like to think that we made a new Friend. BRAVO, Larry Buser :-) We will use you for every plumbing job we need and will refer our friends to you. Exceptional Work and an Exceptional Man!
Description of Work: We had a bathroom sink that was leaking water down the wall to our basement.
