They are great. They are prompt; if we don’t call them, they call us. If we have any trouble, they fix it. I paid $190 through cheque for both the toilet and the biannual checkup. The toilet repair was about $100. I think their prices are high, but I don’t have anything to compare it to. Their quality is great. If my husband has a problem, he calls him and they are here.
Description of Work: I last used Midwest Air Care in September to do a maintenance check and they also sent someone with him to fix the toilet when they came.

I saw their ad for $49 for 16 airducts. When I called them they said that they are pretty booked for the month but there is an opening tomorrow at 10 am. I think they are trained to say this so you are delighted that you got an appointment right away. The service person arrived on time the next day. He was pleasant and within minutes he told me a personal story about his aunt having died or suffered from germs in the airduct and after that experience he decided to get into the business (I think they are trained to say this too). He immediately goes into a long list of things that he thinks I should get to breathe the cleanest air possible. He took out a test tube in which there was some liquid and he asked me to select one duct from which he took a sample of mold by swiping a cotton swab in the ariduct. He then dipped the swab in the test tube and told me that if the color turns deep red it is an indication of how bad my mold problem is in my house. Sure enough the liquid turned deep red!! He told me that I should have a device installed in my furnace that will emit an ultra violet or infrared light (I am not sure which) that will cost $700. The total bill was around $1800. Then when I said No, he called his manager and he started negotiating discounts with me and he said that they are running a special where he will install an infra red or ultra violet device that was in an open box and he can do the whole job of $900. Big drop, huh? I said No, so then he said that he can do the rest of the job without the device for $500. I said No. I said I will give him $49 only. He then talked to his Manager again and he came back and said that he will just do all the airducts (I must have many more air ducts in my house than 16) for $199. I said, ok, that will be fine. From what I can tell the work that they did was basically drill a large diameter hole (4" diameter) in my air duct near the furnace, and attach a large vacuum hose connected to a large size vacuum and ran it for may be 90 minutes with a break in between. I asked him to show me the dirt that was extracted from the airducts but he said that would be impossible because the bag already had dust from a previous home, so it would be hard to separate which dust is from my house and which is from the previous customer home. So, do I know if my ducts are any cleaner now? No. Do I have confidence in this company? No. Will I recommend this company to anyone else? No.
Description of Work: Vacuumed the air ducts for a period of 90 mins in two segments.

Raccoons had completely shredded the duct work in the crawl space under the front half of our house. Two very courteous young men assessed the damage, talked with their supervisor and gave me the estimate. I was concerned about part of their recommended treatment but they answered all my questions fully and gave me options. As it turned out, their original recommendation was what I chose but I appreciated having the information and time to determine that really was what was best for my husband and me. Once we agreed to the estimate they set to work - in 100 degree weather - in a 2 foot crawl space they could only access by crawling under the porch. They worked hard all day, with no complaints, or excess conversation. They were thorough, professional, completed the work and cleaned up all the old duct work that had been shredded. Then they very carefully sealed up the area so no more raccoons could come in until I was able to have it professionally sealed. I couldn't be more pleased or impressed with these young men, their supervisor and the company they represent.
Description of Work: The entire duct work system under our house needed to be torn out and replaced due to damage by raccoons. The remaining parts of the furnace and the vents also needed to be cleaned.

I called in response of a newspaper coupon for $50 - one week only for duct cleaning. They came early the next morning, right on time, two nice young technicians. Work seems fine. My problem is the upsell. One of the workers sole job seemed to be to work on me to buy more services. He was on the phone with his boss (like used car salesmen tactic) to get a good price on several other services that he wrote an estimate for: $1,954.69. I said no, just do the original work as suggested. With boss on phone he kept coming back with more deals - down to $1,500, then $1,300, then $1,100, then $950. Finally $799. I said no to all, but I still ended up paying 10 times my original request. I would like this work done for mold and dust mites, but will not work with a firm that uses such tactics. It all seems so shoddy, feels like you're being played.
Description of Work: Duct cleaning, plus additional vents, additional returns, plus cleaning of additional supply and return mains.

They were terrible. Their advertisement was misleading, as it said that it includes 14 vents in one return and one main. I never realized that the one main was the supply air and they didn't include the return air for which they wanted another $100. They wanted to charge $20 for each additional vent and all they did was blow air on it instead of vacuuming it. They blew dust all over the place and left a lot of dust on my system. I didn't want to pay them an extra $100 to vacuum it. I would have spent about $300 if I had gone with all the services that I needed instead of $59 or $69. Their prices were exorbitant. They were punctual, as they were on time. I wouldn't use their services again.
Description of Work: I used the services of Midwest Air Care in January to clean my air ducts and 3 return ducts.

Very unsatisfactory.
Description of Work: Late for appointment. Ad was deceptive and service provider used a bait and switch. Unprofessional in their approach; manipulative and deceptive in how they provided a quote. Did honor the ad special. Two hours late for appointment.

I think they get the customers by getting into the house using the duct cleaning. And then they test the mold counts and propose to clean the molds for almost 10 times the cost of duct cleaning. This is if we had them do it right that date. Otherwise, their price quoted was almost 20 times of duct cleaning cost. We told them that we'd think about it and didn't let them do the work. They did spend enough time to clean the duct and we felt it was worth the money. Two bad things - They left the furnace covers on the basement floor. A/C didn't work until I put the covers on and banged it. Also, the intake grill cover was put back up side down.
Description of Work: Cleaned dust and tested molds (didn't ask for the second part).
