Dryer wasn't drying completely. The person who came out attached a new hose to the vent.
Description of Work: I got approval to call an appliance repair business to fix my dryer. I like being able to pick my own company for repairs. If I pay out of pocket for anything, they always send me a refund on a timely basis. They are always helpful and polite. I had used a different company before them and was not pleased, I would highly recommend them.

I have had to use Complete Appliance Services twice this year..both for my Air Conditioner. They provided me with a Referral to an AC Company and I have used them on both occasions. The AC Company total expenses was $580, of which I have had to pay nothing other than the $64/mo I pay to Complete Appliance.. As you can see, it has almost paid for itself. I am very satisfied...And of course it is up to me to contact the referral company to ask questions or have concerns addressed before I use them. They will also provide as many referrals as you want.

I called, promptly got a personable, knowledgeable associate who immediately provided contact information for their Tallahassee Servicer to inspect/repair, or to make a decision ( with my input ) to replace the whole unit with a new one. This primary servicer was unavailable ( "Labor Day Vacation" ) so, "Complete" ( Amy ) immediately gave the OK to use "anyone of My choice". This choice of Servicer ( unfortunately, I had no immediate access to Angies List, so an unknown/yellow pages search ) led to a poor result the following day; removal of the microwave door, with the promise to analyze the problem(s) and determine/report repair cost to both Complete Protection and myself, per protocol. This self-chosen company ( after my persistent calls to get back to us ) offered to repair the door unprofessionally (with used/make-shift parts ). I reported this to "Complete"( about 9/6, Associate Paul ), along with other microwave facts ( e.g., age of unit, cracking of plastic grills ) who, without hesitance, agreed to authorizing their re-imbursement of $250 toward the purchase/installation of a new microwave( covering my "out of pocket" cost completely). Amazingly ( but not amazing with this Client Centered Company ), my Complete Protection Check was received "before" the new appliance arrival! I wholeheartedly recommend Complete Protection, not only for their unique coverage paradigm( e.g., no contracts, 24 hr. live associates, use of customer recommended servicers, where applicable ) but for their personable/knowledgeable Associates, seemingly facilitating a built-in ( yet sincere ) Client- friendly model of helpfulness. A very rare find.
Description of Work: Have used this appliance repair company ( monthly retainer cost ) with "Complete Satisfaction" for years. My current need was to have the door on my microwave repaired.

There are pluses and minuses with Complete Appliance Protection. The pluses are they cover the cost of repair and service when you need to get it serviced. Complete Appliance Protection also is extremely responsive if you place a call or an e-mail. Someone answers the phone and initiates a number that they give you to track and authorize the replacement process if it is determined by the repair person. The monthly charges are minimal for the standard protection in exchange of piece of mind. They also do not pry into the shape of the appliance and instead of a waiting period of when they would start accepting claims. The minus is if the appliance is no longer in working condition, then the amount they provide replacing the broken appliance is minimal. There is also a cap at how much Complete Appliance Protection provides in total which is also low if you experience catastrophic failure. That event doesn't happen to an average homeowner but it is something to keep in mind if you bought a short-sale house, foreclosure, or a house where the seller was less pleasant to deal with during the sale of their property. I fell into the last category and I wasn't too sure if the seller would retaliate in some way (luckily he didn't). The waiting period could be a hinderance if you bought a new property because I couldn't tell how new homeowners are covered on day one. So that waiting period may bite you. Now comes the due diligence part on the consumer: If your appliances are not the greatest shape and looks like they will need to be serviced at some point, then forking over some cash may be an option. If your appliances are in relatively good shape, then I'd save the monthly fee and put it towards maintenance yourself and you will get the same effect as CAP. The advantage is a simple determination: If your appliances are in good shape, then the likelihood where multiple will malfunction is small. Therefore, within the same timeframe, one of your appliances will need to be repaired. By putting away your own money, you will cover the same cost of repair work needed. If your appliances do not go out, you will have accrued enough money to buy newer appliances. Lastly, you need to budget this cost into owning a home. If you are not a good at budgeting, then I strongly recommend enrolling with Complete Appliance Protection. That is the main reason why I decided to terminate paying Complete Appliance Protection. The amount of money I am paying them can go towards buying a new appliance or calling the repair person. I also budget my finances to cover for this and if a few things go out, I can easily cover the expense. Terminating payments are also quick, as I only needed to write an e-mail and they cancel service immediately. They accidentally charged me an extra payment but so far they are quick at responding and rectifying the issue. If it correlates to another accidental charge instead of a refund, I will update this review and note this experience.
Description of Work: They provided coverage of house appliance at a reasonable rate. I only needed to contact them before I contact someone to take a look at a damaged appliance.

Words can be a powerful tool. However, I don't know if there are words strong enough to express the utter disgust and overall disenfranchisement our family has painfully experienced using Complete Appliance Protection (Liberty, MO & Toronto, Canada) This company is a band of crooks, street swindlers, and in every sense of the word; charlatans. They practice chicanery at every corner and swift deceit upon every step. There must be an outpost in H*** for such an enterprise of 'so called' home warranty pariah. These troglodytes feed on good people's sincere intention of having a legitimate insurance plan in place for the eventuality of their appliances failing. They barely even repair anything without first coming up with a litany of what they will and mostly won't do. Please, please, please, SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND TIME, AVOID COMPLETE APPLIANCE PROTECTION. Here's our story: We have been with Complete Appliance Protection for three and one-half years. They advertise: no deductible/ service call payment, pre-existing conditions such as rust are acceptable etc........ Sounds great, right? Affordable plans, right? No. Not so much. We spent $87per month for basic appliances and extra for an ice making refrigerator ( because they're so rare. I mean only the ultra rich have ice making fridges). Our appliance doors, levers, latches, springs...... not covered. Swimming pool, garage door opener, water softener.....not covered. Most other warranty companies cover these items and for less. And yet, they call themselves Complete. Six months after sign-up our water heater failed- the tank rusted through and spewed rusty, red water all over the garage floor. Great! Wait........"Honey, don't we have a warranty company?"---"Yes Dear. I'll call them right away". They asked the age of the 'unit'. After I told them it was five-years-old, they said, "Well, that's old and we'll give you a reimbursement of two-hundred-dollars". I was throttled, I ended up paying one-thousand out of pocket! As I alluded to earlier on; they refused to fix the latch opening mechanism of my microwave (two years later, still won't open), explaining that they only cover magnetrons. They begrudgingly repaired two relays on our AC compressors ($320) they refused to repair our range hood, explaining that in the 'small type' of our BS contract- range hoods aren't covered- (even though the range came as an integral set with the cooktop) they recently fixed a $300 inverter board on our GE fridge but, not without asking the service tech the age of the fridge and if we took good care of it! Their AC tech, that they sent to my house twice, told my wife and I that our compressors are failing and will not make it through this Summer (2015). He said the windings are shot and the ramp-up time was at it's absolute limit. He explained that the warranty company will undoubtedly refuse a $3,800 bill for the replacement of a compressor and coil, and that they would just pay the max allowable ($500 for the compressor and $300 for a coil). Another AC tech they sent to my home two years ago and a plumber friend of mine both advised me that these warranty companies operate on a fifty-percent principle (they have no principles and are reprehensible, recalcitrant thieves).......so, I guess, it's more a fifty-percent metric. Anyway, this is how it goes: They take a rolling tally of what you've paid in so far, when something breaks, they apply the fifty-percent metric. Say that you've paid into the warranty $600 and the cost of repair is $300, your covered. Now, if the cost is $550; you'll be met with the typical, "That appliance is old and we'll give you max pay out on that item". Which, by the way, is ALWAYS less than fifty-percent of what you've paid and, typically, less than one-quarter of the price for a new unit. My AC is hardly running it stays on continually to only affect a temperature change of three to five degrees! Our electric bills have tripled! Yesterday we got a second opinion from another AC company that is super, top-rated on Angie's List, Yelp, Google, Yellow Pages, BBB etc......... They advised us as well, that our units will fail probably within weeks and are operating terribly. I can't leave my wife and kids in a home with no AC and 115 degree heat in Phoenix, AZ. As tight as our finances are, I decided to take initiative and have the failing units replaced, because I knew this warranty company would never make the big compressor repairs. The gentleman from the AC company advised me to explain the situation to Complete Appliance; he told me that the more reputable warranty companies will meet you part way and just issue max pay out for the units if you explain that they are failing, old, and you don't want to be in an un-livable condition upon their failure. Additionally, I just signed a $22,000.00 contract for new AC units. Guess what Complete Appliance's max allowable is? I will tell you: $500 for compressors (they're $3,800-$5,000) $300 for coils (they're $1,500-$3,000) and $300 for the Air Handler/ Furnace (they're $2,000 to $3,500).............what a deal! It doesn't even pay the tax. So, I politely presented my situation to Complete Appliance. They basically told me to pound sand. The first individual I spoke with earlier this week, prior to our AC appointment/ quote, advised me to have the technician call and explain our situation. When the tech/ sales rep. was actually in our home, I called Complete Appliance. I got a snooty, terse, militant girl on the phone who said, "until it breaks we do nothing. No if's and's or but's". Ya' that went well. Bottom line folks, these companies are flush with cash (our cash) and they are a band of rip-off artists. I cancelled my contract yesterday out of unmitigated frustration and stress. My wife and I have dumped nearly $4,000 of hard-earned money into the pockets of Complete Appliance Protection!!! In the end, they're richer and laughing, I'm broke and stuck with the huge bill for new AC, and they've only paid under $1,000!!! in small repairs over the nearly four-year estranged relationship. I hope that the take-away from this posting is; that all of these warranty companies prey on the ill-advised consumer. They provide a sense of security and insurance. BUT, that is all it is, it's just a sense. When stuff breaks, so too does that warm fuzzy feeling as they start describing the level of arbitration and 'company discretion' they possess; which is worded in the minuscule, tiny type at the bottom of the last page of your contract. Do yourself a tremendous favor and value; set aside about $1,000 in a coffee jar to meet appliance fixes. Anything huge like AC won't be covered anyway. Then use plastic or a home repair loan and get it fixed. Home warranty companies are a scam from the get-go and, Complete Appliance Protection out of Liberty, MO is chief among them.

I purchased their $60/month "Full House Plus". My air conditioner broke due to a faulty coil. They decided it was uneconomical to repair the unit. Only choice is to replace it. However, they only pay $350 for this, whereas the cost is over $2,000. They are happy to collect their monthly fee, but if something actually breaks down, you are kind of on your own. They should call themselves "Incomplete Protection" if they are honest about it!

Excellent customer service and very fair in handling claims. Great company to deal with.
Description of Work: I have had Complete Appliance Protection for over two years now. They are a very good company to work with. Their customer service is excellent, the way they handle claims is very fair, and they are very reasonably priced. I have the option of choosing my own provider to fix something and they will talk to the provider to get an estimate when they are in my house to approve the amount or they can find a provider for me and pay them directly. So far, I have had my stove, a/c, and fridge fixed and it has been very easy to deal with them. They send you the reimbursement check quickly and always are available by phone when you call unlike many companies who have very long hold times and poor customer service. I highly recommend them.

We have used this warranty company for a few years and have found it to be great for our tenants. They don't have to pay for anything up front and can schedule everything on their own time. Their service providers have been pretty good so far. We recently had our furnace go up and our washer and dryer and they immediately offered the reimbursement amount. Granted it is not the full amount to replace the system, but I knew that going into it. Overall, this is a great product especially for our needs and their customer service and promptness has been phenomenal.

We got a one year home warranty for a house we bought back in August 2014 since we were new home owners. Good customer service. A little over a month of moving in, one of our HVAC units stopped cooling. We called up Complete Protection to get the list of mechanical engineer professionals that CP allows you to use in order to cover warranty services. As part of our home warranty, we one of the HVAC units cleaned then we had to pay a diagnostic fee of $79 for our HVAC problem. Turned out it was the coils and a couple other parts that needed replacement in the older HVAC unit. The cost to repair was around half the price of replacement. The mechanical engineer said he would not recommend doing the repairs on a 19 year old unit but instead replacing with a more efficient unit. Complete Protection also deemed the repairs would not be worth repairing but would give us a credit of $800 to buy a new HVAC unit. Although that credit check was minimal compared to the $4900 replacement unit, it helped with the purchase and we already got our money's worth of the home warranty. We also got several quotes from companies in the area for HVAC units since Complete Protection would send us a check for $800 so we could purchase from whomever. However, we found that MW Mechanical (one of the professionals we had to choose from for service according to Complete Protection) was most knowledgable plus he offered to credit the $79 fee on cleaning our 2nd HVAC unit towards buying a replacement HVAC unit. Great experience and the CP team was quick to respond. They also were quick to send the $800 credit check for buying the new HVAC unit. Would recommend!

Well, the first technician that came out took a while fiddling with things and told me and CAP that the unit was old and the parts aren't made anymore. New unit required. CAP contacted a technician at another company and he came out and had the heater working in 20 minutes. No parts required. Go figure. I am very glad for their persistence in making sure my problem got solved in a timely manner. All of this was at no out-of-pocket cost to me. Thanks CAP. You're the best!

Let me start with the positive. The phone personalities of the folks who answer the phones for CAP are outstanding, very pleasant, and CAP paid quickly for the amount they agreed to pay - but that's the sour point, they didn't agree to pay the entire cost of repairing my refrigerator as recommended by the service tech from a very very large reputable service company. I initially chose Complete Appliance Protect because of their high rating on Angies List, and I can understand how those whom rated highly could have had positive and seamless experiences, but mine was not. My refrigerator didn't seem to be cooling well, so having a home warranty, I took the opportunity to utilize that service. Upon making the service request I was informed that because my refrigerator was a Samsung they could not directly provide for a technician, instead I should arrange for the repairs, call for a pre-authorization, and submit a receipt. So I started that process. I chose Sears to give a sense of professionalism, compared to a no name local outfit that might be easily challenged or less experienced with warranty companies. The tech arrived on-time, and made an initial diagnosis of 'ice buildup' with a prescription to unplug and thaw the refrigerator for 2 days - which I subsequently did. I submitted the trip charge to CAP, and they promptly paid it. Unfortunately the diagnosis was incorrect, the refrigerator did not improve, and so I scheduled another appointment. A different technician then diagnosed the issue as low air flow, and prescribed to replace the refrigerator fan + housing, and the main PCB computer board, at a significant cost of $670 - an expensive repair by any standard. The fan + housing, a single part, was approximately $450 including labor, while the PCB represented the remaining portion. Complete Appliance Repair balked at that pre-authorization charge, and instead offered me $400 to 'cashout' the refrigerator instead of repairing it. On carefully reading of the contract they do have an option to determine if your appliance is not repairable, or not economical to repair, and they have a table that does indicate $400 to 'cashout' a refrigerator. Consider that the full price of one year of (kitchen only) warranty service costs $372, and if your appliance repair costs reach some certain threshold they will offer to pay out $400 to avoid paying more. That would seem to mean that the benefit provided is $28 assuming only one appliance needs repair and so forth. After some negotiation Complete Appliance Protection agreed to pay a portion of the full repair costs, and I agreed to cover the remaining portion of the recommended charges. So parts were ordered. In the end the repairs were completed, and Complete Appliance Protection promptly paid the amount they agreed to pay. If your refrigerator has value comparable to $400 then Complete Appliance Protection is perhaps ideal for you. But if you, like me have a mid-range refrigerator that's only a few years old then you might use my experience as a harbinger of what you might expect. Even simple parts such as a fan + housing can be expensive to repair, and cost more than their cashout threshold. I had read the contract carefully prior to signing up, and had mistakenly assumed that an appliance that was not repairable, or not economic to repair by their standard must mean an appliance that was just worn out and not practical to repair. In practice that seems to not be the case. I remind you that the fan with housing cost was approximately $450, and perhaps Complete Appliance Protection would have approved that estimate if it were the only part recommended for replacement. But the effort and grief and surprise of having to negotiate a compromise price from the full estimate was profoundly disappointing. I cancelled my service plan at both my rental, and my residence, and chose Sears which has a much more comprehensive plan, and a similar price, and they service everything top to bottom.

I have not had an opportunity to have services done by them though. If you have a situation that comes up on your home, you call them and they give you a quote and tell you who to contact to get it fixed. They do not charge anything as long as you pay for an annual membership. What stands out about them is that you get to choose who you want to work with and what is good about them is their responsiveness.

Complete Appliance is a great company. I have used them several times for appliance repairs and they are always unbelievably responsive. This was the first time they advised that it did not pay to fix my microwave. They called and sent a letter to let me know to go get a new one and they will reimburse me up to $250. Once I sent them the receipt I received the check within 2 weeks. I recommend them to all my friends and feel this is a great service to have in your home. They are very nice and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks

Before purchasing this appliance insurance, I read tons of reviews for countless companies. I chose Complete Appliance based on these reviews. They are significantly more expensive than other appliance insurance companies, but for good reason. I hear horror stories about struggling to have an insurance company take any action to service or reimburse for a service. In contrast, I love how easy it is to get in touch with CAP, and we keep their contact information on our fridge just in case. We have had to use them several times this year, and each time was a pleasure. I just call them up at any time and tell them the issue. They issue a reference number immediately and send me to a local company that CAP will pay up front. If that local company cannot come out in time, we just call up someone else, and CAP will reimburse us. Once the maintenance company comes out and assesses the problem, we give them the reference number, and they call CAP. CAP either approves the maintenance or determines it would be better if we replaced the item. If approved, CAP tells the appliance company to go ahead and do the repairs immediately (same day unless they need to order a part). When they determined we should replace an item, we sent them the invoice for the replacement (we replaced our entire AC system). Within about 10 days, they sent us a check for their replacement amounts. The amounts were not a complete reimbursement, but we decided to upgrade, so the amount may have covered a more basic option. I recommend them to everyone who considers buying appliance coverage. No horror stories from me...just well maintained appliances and a happy customer.

We have been very satisfied with the Complete Protection plan for over five years. The cost is reasonable. They work with the person I choose to fix the appliances, and there is no deductible for the service call. I have called them quite a few times to fix two ranges, a washer and a dryer. They have fixed my washer many times. I finally replaced my washer and they paid the amount specified towards the new washer. When I have called them, they have answered the phone immediately and have helped me right away. You can compare them to other warranty companies and you will see that this company is very fair, and is also pleasant to deal with.

We have been CAP customers for about 2 years now and will continue to be for the forseeable future. We pay $60/month for full home appliance protection and have used the service 3-4 times so far. The latest incident was when our A/C started dripping through our ceiling. CAP set us up with a service provider that came out the following morning and completed the repairs. Our repair would have been over $400, but it was completely covered by CAP. Sure, we could have put that $60/month in an account and used it in the same emergency, but with a new baby at home we probably would have dipped into that fund by now! It's nice that whenever something breaks down I have peace of mind knowing it probably won't cost us a fortune to repair it. So far all the providers we've used through CAP have been punctual, friendly, and efficience. When a provider is not available in an adequate timeframe, they provide an authorization code and allow you to find your own provider. So far we have not had to do that but it's good to know the option is there. We were previously with another home warranty company and were very unhappy with the providers there. I'm glad we switched to CAP.

What I liked is that their price is fair for the coverage that they provide. They keep the process of purchasing and renewals very simple and clear to the point. The conditions stated for reimbursements are also very clear and direct. Very prompt in their response. At this point, I have faith in them.
Description of Work: I personally haven't yet interacted with the provider to get the repairs done on the property. I have only spoken to them on purchasing the policy for the first year and subsequent renewals.

I called the warranty provider and explained the problem with my fridge. They gave me a phone of the local company who could repair it. I called that company and they immediately schedule a visit of the technician. The technician checked the fridge and determined that the thermostat had to be replaced and immediately ordered it. After a week they've got a new part and came over to install it. During the installation a flimsy sensor cover got broke and the technician ordered it right away. After a few days the technician came again and installed new cover within few seconds and everything is working very well. The cost of the repair was $92 but I paid nothing as I was covered by the warranty plan. I'm very pleased with the provider's service.
Description of Work: The provider (Complete Appliance Protection Inc.) gave me a phone number for the local company who could repair my refrigerator.
