Rather than paying the annual increase with my old home warranty company, I found Complete Appliance Protection on Angie's List. It is a month-to-month service at $60/month, rather than an annual service contract. In addition, there is no service call fee, which was $75 each time with the other company. With the great reviews from Angie's List, I decided to give it a try. We are now going on 14 months, and it is certainly worth it. If you average at least 2 service calls per year (and we average about 4 per year), then you are getting your money's worth. The customer service is great, and we have had no problems with their service partners in our area. We will continue using CAP.

. Complete Appliance Protection (CAP) was great! We contacted them and had our a/c repaired without any questions or hassles. There was no cost since there is no deductible. Our monthly fee is $57 a month and it covers all the appliances, water heater, furnace, a/c and well pump. We went with CAP based on their reviews and the fact there are no deductibles. We have had other home warranty protection plans with other companies and it seemed like they did everything they could to find a reason to not repair the problem and when they did send someone out, the service was inferior. Go with CAP, you won't regret it!
Description of Work: Air conditioning unit was blowing warm air and temperature in the house was 85 degrees. Contacted Complete Appliance Protection and they gave us an authorization number and the phone number for a service company in the immediate area. We contacted the company and explained the problem. Even though they said they had a full day planned with services, they still made it to our house, diagnosed the problem and had the a/c up and running in no time.

I did a lot of research before buying a home warranty and am so glad we went with Complete Appliance Protection. They have already paid to fix our furnace which was making a terrible noise and was on its way out. They have been great to work with! This was a low-hassle experience, much better than my experiences with other home warranty companies. Thanks so much! Would highly recommend them to others!

Have their monthly plan. The water heater broke down but the service men they referred said they do not service in our area on our heater model. So hired my own company to do the repairs and called them while the repairs were being performed but they denied coverage because I didn't call before the repair work started. So bottom line - hire your own professional and make sure that you call them before you do the actual repairs. Washer broken down a few months down the line and they covered it because I followed these steps

Fine, They paid for 2 companies to come out there and nothing out of my pocket. So that was great
Description of Work: The man that came to my house from Complete Appliance Protection had to reschedule 3 times to get out to my house. He did come and said that it would cost more to fix it than to get a new one. So I used the money they sent for a new washer. The company was fine it was just one of their contractors was a little slow to get there

This is a home warranty company. They cover only 2 AC units. I had to have 2 of my units replaced. When I asked to change the 3rd unit to their policy they said I could not. Not very flexible. Why would I need to insure 2 brand new units? I also had to call Sears out to come and fix my dryer. Again no service providers that worked with CAP's in my area.

Customers are welcome to cover as many AC units as they like, as long as they are being paid for. Coverage cannot be TRANSFERRED from one unit to another, which is what this customer had requested. The distinction is that people who are looking to swap out items that have already been fixed for ones that are now failing, rather than having them all on the plan from the beginning, are simply looking to take advantage of our program. This kind of practice is not tolerated. If the residence is located in a rural area, please do not assume that CP has service providers readily available. We do work with any service company, such as Sears, and customers are free to choose any company they like for their repair work.

Conclusions: This experience leads me to question the quality of Complete Appliances? subcontractors. If you dig deep enough into the agreement, you will see that Complete Appliance only pays for a percentage of actual repair cost if replacement is required. Do your homework before signing up with Complete Appliance; no service call deductible may not be off-set by the higher monthly expense or service reimbursement caps. At this point, I?m looking for an alternative provider. Unfortunately, none of the home warranty companies on Angie?s List are receiving stellar reviews or ratings.
Description of Work: Complete Appliance sent their HVAC representative to our house in response to a no cooling issue. This was the second visit within 6 months to the same issue. The tech apparently did not check pressures in the system but made an arbitrary diagnosis of a leaking coil and low Freon. The contractor took almost a week to generate a quote for a repair cost of $1,600 of which Complete Appliance would only cover $350 of the expense. The non-reimbursed expenses lead me to call a HVAC company that I had used before for a competitive bid. They sent their tech out to test before making the bid. Tests showed that all pressures where normal and the only issue was that the coil needed cleaning, total cost of repair were $209. Spending my time to find the alternative contractor and supporting the second service call resulted in a timely fix to the real problem and reduced the repair expense paid by Complete Appliance by $141. I had to pay for the repairs and received reimbursement from Complete Appliance almost 3 weeks after I paid the contractor that fixed the problem. Complete Appliance made no offer to compensate me for the delay is service or time spent looking for and supporting an alternative solution that saved them money.

Unfortunately an occasional misdiagnosis is part of any repair work. The difference between CP and other warranty companies is that we DO offer to pay for a second opinion when necessary, and we also allow the customer to use any company of their choosing for that second opinion. In fact, the customer always has the choice of using their own service provider. That being said, if the company the customer chooses for that second opinion is unwilling to bill our company directly, CP cannot force them to do so and would have no choice but to reimburse for the charges. CP paid 100% of this and all repair costs. It is true that CP does not offer a full replacement. Our Terms & Conditions is only one page and the section in question is highlighted in yellow, so one would not have to dig very deep at all to see it. It is obviously prudent to read through this information before enrolling and we certainly encourage any potential customers to do so.

Based upon the positive reviews on Angie's List, I decided to switch from my current home warranty provider to Complete Appliance Protection Inc. However, upon receiving my agreement, statement, and welcome letter, it was unclear to me whether I was paying for service from the "agreement date" of 9/9/2012, or from the "eligible for repairs" date of 11/10/2012, which is the date I requested to coincide with the expiration date of my existing policy. When I called the company today for clarification, and could not receive a clear answer, I immediately cancelled the agreement. Upon inspection of the agreement, it seems to me that the name of this company should be Incomplete Appliance Protection Inc., as it is at the company's sole discretion whether or not to make repairs versus paying a small percentage of a major replacement. I'm not willing to pay $1440 per year for this incomplete protection no matter how qualified the technician is at determining whether or not the repair is "economical." I recommend the 8/15/12 review on Angie's List, and the company's response, to anyone contemplating a home warranty purchase.

Overall, awesome company, great communication, and I do plan on renewing with more coverages! Thanks Complete Appliance Protection!
Description of Work: We purchased a 10 year old home in 2011, one of the agreements before we took posession was to have a home warranty program in place to address the aging appliances/hvac in the home. The home warranty industry has a bad rep, so I searched Angieslist for some companies that have high marks with few or no customer complaints. We purchased the basic plan $400, it gave us the peace of mind that our home was covered should we run into any unforseen issues with our new home. 1. Within a few months, we got tired of fighting our built-in dishwasher tray that had damaged rollers. We called Complete Appliance Protection and they speeedily sent out a technician. He obtained the part costs and service cost to be a little over $100. We decided to replace the unit, so Complete Appliance Protection cut a check for $100 towards a new unit. 2. A few months later, our stove element caught fire and the whole element popped and cracked smoking the whole kitchen up. I took the element off, went down to an appliance store and bought a replacement for $65. Then I realized I could have contacted CAP, so called them up and after faxing in a copy of the receipt, they sent me a check for $65. 3. Then...a few months later, our microwave bit the dust! Called and it was not covered in the basic proteciton plan. Dang it! 4. And to top things off, our warranty program was scheduled to end on 8/5/12, and on July 26th, we woke up to a steamy 82 degrees in the house, and a loud whine from our compressor unit outside. We called early at 7:30AM, they gave me an authorization number and the service companies phone#, we called the A/C company with the authorization#, and they were at our house by 8:15AM!!! The compressor was locked, they were able to file it, and replace the capacitor to get it started again. This visit alone could have easily cost me $400 or more dollars.

To be fair, I have to say that in the past - up until about 2 months ago - we have had a very good experience with Complete Appliance Protection (CAP) which is a home warranty company. The same lady - Angela - always answered the calls and promptly addressed our concerns, always to our satisfaction. However, it seems that a few months ago the company experienced growth and hired a bunch of new service representatives and managers that seem to have been trained as in most other home warranty companies - not to address a customer concern but to make sure the claim is not going to be paid for one reason or the other. The last experience just a week ago was horrible and I feel we need to report this as it seems this company is not going to be as good as it used to be anymore. We have submitted a claim for our 5-year old Kenmore HE washer since the panel lights were blinking and washer not starting, and received an authorization number from CAP. The appliance specialist that was dispatched via CAP-recommended contractor and came to inspect the washer said the control panel needed to be replaced and recommended REPLACEMENT. The technician recommendation was based on the fact that the washer was relatively new and serviced by Sears under extended warranty on a regular basis until October 2011 at which time CAP coverage started. We have independently confirmed with the appliance repair company that they have recommended to replace the control panel and not advised to purchase a new washer. Yet, despite having it written in CAP's policy that they would cover full cost of any repair if the repair is possible and recommended by the contractor, CAP has made a decision to reimburse us instead in the amount of $250.00 towards the purchase of a new washer and sent me a payout letter with the confirmation of their intent. We have called to inquire why they would not fix the washer since based on its age and technician recommendation according to their policy they should have repaired the washer. We were asking if there was any justification and based on what facts we had to buy a new washer when the existing one was relatively new and deemed easily repairable by a specialist. The customer service guy who also claimed he was the top manager at CAP (but we have never encountered him previously when submitting claims or calling with an inquiry) was very disrespectful, rude and agitated when he spoke first to my husband and then to me, and at the end he basically yelled at me that we had a choice of either take a payout or not, and hang up without offering any explanation or answers to our questions. Because the house covered under policy is a rental property and my renters have small children and asked that we replace the washer as fast as possible, we have decided not to argue with CAP anymore and just went out to local Appliance warehouse and purchased a new washer. The warehouse manager who sold us the washer confirmed to us that the washer was brand new. This happened on Friday, 8/10/12. On the following Monday, 8/13/12, I have called CAP and was shocked to learn that the payout amount will not be paid AND that my contract was cancelled. When I inquired why, CAP representative said they "do not want to do anymore business with you". As for the washer payout they claimed it was refurbished and not new and therefore they would not honor their payout letter. When we referred to the store manager who confirmed to us at the time of purchase that the washer was brand new they said they called the store and talked to someone else who was there and who told them the washer was not new (although there was no other person but the manager in the store when we bought it, and so no way for anyone else to offer accurate information). I called the manager of the store the first day she was in which was on Wednesday and she confirmed again that the washer we purchased was new. Then she called CAP to confirm this as well. We called CAP and they informed us they have requested the store manager to provide an invoice showing where the appliance warehouse purchased the washer from and that it was new. I spoke to the store manager again and she was very frustrated with CAP and said they were asking too much and because they buy the appliances from warehouses in large quantities she was not sure she would be able to locate exact invoice for that one washer. But she said she would try to find it. She also mentioned the person who was in the store on a weekend when CAP called was not a manager, was not aware of what particular washer we have purchased and also did not have sufficient English language skills to understand what the question was about. The store manager has confirmed the specific appliance we have purchased was brand new both to us and to CAP. We hope to receive at least the payout that was promised to us, both verbally and in the letter, in the amount of $250.00. We also feel that we were misled in the first place when the payout was offered instead of CAP performing the repair on the existing washer based on technician's recommendation as they did not offer us any explanation why the payout was chosen over the repair, more so the customer representative person was very rude and agitated in his conversation with us. As to why our account was cancelled no explanation was offered to us except "we do not want to do anymore business with you", and "we have conflicting reports on interactions with you". Interestingly, we have another house covered with the CAP home warranty as well and they did not cancel that account because it was paid in full for a year rather than in monthly installments. But how, as a customer, should I feel now after having these issues if I have to call CAP about possible issues in my other house that is still "covered" until November but at the same time they told me "we do not want to do business with you anymore"???

CP does pay 100% of all reasonable, and economical repairs. Deciding to replace an aging system is often an unpopular choice for the homeowner as it means out of pocket cost for them. That being said, we deal with these kinds of issues on a daily basis and are quite experienced with weighing the pros and cons of repair versus replacement. Our goal is to do what is best for the longevity of the item(s). The tech present at the home on this call is one we trust very much and have received a lot of positive feedback on. It was his opinion that this unit had a multitude of issues, and that even if this repair was made, the system would likely need further repairs. According to our Terms, if a repair is deemed uneconomical, we reimburse the customer based on a set schedule. We are delivering on that commitment and are providing the customer with precisely what she agreed to upon enrollment in our program.

Based on an Angie?s List report, I selected Complete Appliance Protection (CAP) as my home warranty company for kitchen/laundry appliances. My refrigerator stopped cooling. I called the service request into CAP on Friday, 7/20/2012 sometime around 3:30pm. The CAP representative was very courteous and provided me with a service authorization number and two service companies. I selected Advanced Appliance Services because the other company did not have Saturday hours during the summer. I called Advanced Appliance Services. The representative was very courteous took the service request information and advised me that a technician will be calling me shortly. Technician ILYA called to schedule a service date. To my surprise one of the service dates offered was Friday, 7/20/2012 which I selected. Mr. Ilya said he received the service email request just after completing his last job and because he did not want me to be without my refrigerator during the weekend he made a point to offer the Friday, 7/20/2012 service date. A technician that is concerned about the customer?s needs. How rare! He arrived timely; his shirt displayed the company?s name. He was professional and had a manner that made me feel safe and at easy. To a woman this is a very important quality in addition to providing expert service and professionalism. He knew what the problem was before he did any disassembling. Wow!!! You don?t see that much today. He completed the job had me sign the service receipt and left. Another thing I like about CAP is you only pay for your plan. I selected the Kitchen/Laundry Plan at $28.00 a month on an annual payment schedule, however you can elect to pay monthly, quarterly or semiannually. The last home warranty company I was with ? I had to pay for the plan annually and pay a $60.00 service fee to the service technician for each new service call. I am inspired by the knowledge that there are still companies that provide quality old fashion service. I will refer CAP to all my friends who own rental properties or anyone looking for a home warranty company that have experienced and professional service contractors that provide old fashion quality service. My refrigerator is working like new.
Description of Work: My refrigerator stopped cooling. The freezer compartment behind the freezer panel was so frozen that it would not allow for the cooling of the refrigerator compartment. This was due to the need to service the connector of the heater. Technician ILYA had to remover the freezer panel, defrost the frozen area and correct the heater connector problem. I'm not very savvy when it comes to providing technical servicing details. What I can say is my refrigerator was broke and now it is working like new.

I'm purchasing a house and close on Friday. I got this company's information from Angie's List. They seemed to have a decent score on feedback and reasonable rates. I went on the website and filled out the application. This morning I received a phone call from a customer service rep informing me that they are no longer accepting any policies in the state of Texas. (which would have been nice to know through some sort of notice/preliminary app on their site) When I asked the rep if she could email me some sort of statement to the same affect, she stuttered and said "I guess". So I don't actually have any true complaints other than professionalism and the fact that I have wasted another day waiting for a policy that wouldn't exist.

The overall process went extremely well and quickly, with quality repair work. The AC repair service referred by CAP was excellent, and I was particularly pleased to see that the recommended repair service was also a local member of Angie's List with an excellent reputation. Of course, I was also pleased to see that CAP was an excellently rated member of Angie's List. Overall, it was a no hassle process.
Description of Work: A/C stopped blowing air through the ducts. Complete Appliance Protection, Inc. scheduled Arthur Air Conditioning to diagnose and repair. CAP responded very quickly, as well as Arthur AC. Approximately two hours were spent in thoroughly diagnosing, and subsequently repairing, the problem (replacing a non-functional blower motor capacitor). CAP and Phil from Arthur AC were courteous, professional, and very quick to respond to my call for help (even though it was a weekend). Overal, it was a no hassle process. A/C is currently working and blowing very strong..
