They were very nice on the phone. However they don't provide warranty coverage for sump pumps, which I require.

It went extremely well. The technician had to come out three times to attempt to fix the original fridge before ultimately shorting out the electrical system. We had to purchased a new fridge, which was convered by our warranty!

I needed service for several problems over the course of a few weeks time. Since they do not have an authorized repair provider in my area, I was able to contact my own repair company and after getting authorization I paid for the repair myself, sent the receipt and had a check in the mail soon after. The people I spoke with were very helpful and so professional. The last call I made I asked them to send me some brochures for my friends because I think this kind of service protection is sooo important.
Description of Work: This is a monthly charge for "Complete Protection" for the appliances in my house. Also have a plan for my rental unit. I was hesitant at first but I read about the company on the internet and decided to give it a try. Little did I know that I would need their help so soon after I started the subscriptions. (2 months) Appliance repair is never planned and always more than you hoped to pay.

I'm extremely pleased with Complete Protection. When we moved into our house, we knew that a lot of the appliances were nearing the end of their life and I was a little worried that they wouldn't be covered under a typical home warranty. I'm still floored that CP doesn't mess around with "pre-existing conditions". We knew our stovetop was broken before we moved in and I mentioned this to CP, but they said it was no problem and to just give them a call to have someone look at it after we moved in. I've had to make many calls while we were covered under CP, and I've been so impressed with their customer service. Someone is always on hand to answer my call, and they've always been very patient and helpful. It's been a huge peace of mind, whether I've had to call because one of the burners on our stovetop was out, or for an emergency like a burst pipe in our basement. One thing I really loved about CP is that you can call just about any service provider you'd like to do repairs. I made a mistake the first time I had an issue by telling a repair service that I was working with a warranty company. They refused to come out because they've had so many bad experiences getting paid. The next time I didn't mention the warranty and paid the repair man myself and CP reimbursed me immediately after I sent in my receipt. So easy. I found CP through Angie's List and I can say that if they had been the only company I found through this list, it would have been enough to justify joining! Like any insurance plan, a home warranty is a gamble. I can't say whether it makes sense to purchase one in every situation, but if you decide to go that route, I can't imagine a better company to purchase through than CP.
Description of Work: We purchased a home warranty for our first year in a new house. We were able to choose which appliances we wanted to cover. We ended up having to pay extra because we had a "high end" Viking double oven, but it absolutely paid off (considering we ended up having to replace the whole thing).

I contacted CAP as soon as I realized my air conditioner was blowing warm air instead of cold. Unfortunately it was already 8:30 pm. They were very good about quickly putting me in contact with several HVAC repair companies. I needed several names because many couldn't get over to my home for two days. I don't have to tell you that if you live in Phoenix, AZ, you MUST have air conditioning in the summer! The company I finally reached that could come the following day, arrived earlier than expected and did a great job replacing the motor. Thankfully we had cold air for that evening and it's been working ever since. CAP was quick to help.

Earlier this month, my 13-year old air conditioner quit working, right in the middle of a hot, Texas summer! Complete Appliance Protection let me work with the A/C repairman of my choosing, and when he ultimately determined that the system was beyond reasonable repair, they approved replacement of the system. (They don't pay for the full replacement cost, but the portion they provided was very helpful). In general, I've found them to be easy to work with and would highly recommend them.

I'm guessing CAP doesn't have much or any presence in the Chicago area, because they had no companies they work with that could service either of two different repairs I required... a washer repair and a dishwasher repair. When I first called them, an agent was almost immediately available. She told me to call a repair service of my choice, and then I or the serviceman should call them, once the serviceman had diagnosed the problems. I chose a repairman from Angie's List (Park Ridge Appliance), who was reluctant to come out because he said "my experience has been warranty companies don't pay what I charge for a site visit", which is understandable since his fee for that was at least twice what I've been charged in the past for such visits. He also expected immediate payment. I told him I'd cover it, even if there were a shortfall from CAP. The serviceman ended up not charging for the dishwasher because the issue had to do with improper loading. The washer, including the site visit fee, was $243 ($228 with a $15 "Angie's List" discount). I called CAP, got an agent on the line again almost immediately. He asked how much the bill was and what the problem was with the appliance. I told him and he immediately replied "Ok, you just need to send us the invoice. Would you like us to send the check to you at the listed address, a different address, or would you like us to pay the service company?" I was able to scan and email them the invoice. (The serviceman also offered to email me a copy so it would be in electronic form I could forward). FIve days later, the check arrived. Using CAP was a totally positive experience for me. If you consider it a problem to front the money for a repair because your service provider insists on it, or if it's not easy, convenient, or quick for you to send CAP an invoice (e.g. if you had to use the postal service) and/or it bothers you to wait for the reimbursement), you should inquire whether they have a repair service presence in your area. It didn't bother me to wait and it wasn't a long wait regardless, so my experience was awesome.

Requested re-mailing of coverage plans. Expected date was 1 week. received it much less time. Also, we selected CAP over all the other companies out there based on customer reviews. clearly, CAP is not a "replacement" but rather, a "repair" company. Kelli was SUPER helpful in explaining their process. They have NO contract, just a monthly fee that you pay, like your car insurance bill. You HOPE you never need to use it, but IF you do.....then it is sure nice to have that coverage. Also, there is NOT a $75.00 service call fee every time you need to have a repair person visit your home. Just the usual monthly fee, which is based upon your choice of available plans and options that you select when you sign up. Basically, you only pay for what you need and you are not double, or triple billed for services from an UNknowledgeable or UNskilled service technician at a time you can least afford it. Their service plans are clearly explained on their web site ((( https://www.completeprotection.net/ ))), and they also CLEARLY explain their limits on replacements on their web site as well. Keep in mind, they seem to be more REPAIR ORIENTED rather than for REPLACEMENTS and if your item is too old or unworthy of repair, they will pay only a small portion towards a replacement item. The small amount they do pay towards the replacement if you need it, is listed on the web site. This helps to keep their fees down as well ! ! ! Another nice feature is that they have a list of repair companies that they will give you, so you can call and schedule your own repair, once you have a Repair Authorization Number from CAP. The repair companies they suggest are familiar with the CAP process, and will bill CAP directly for the work. Now if you have a favorite service provider that you prefer to use, that is no problem. If that provider is unfamiliar with billing CAP, you can pay the provider yourself and CAP reimburses you within 10 to 14 days from the time they receive your bill. (((Just remember to get the Repair Authorization Number from CAP BEFORE having your work done.))) Also nice, is if you have an older home, they don't seem to have all the exclusions we read about from the other companies. We have a home in Henderson, Nevada that we plan to rent out this fall. We want the tenants to have reliable and trustworthy service folks available to them if they need someone. We have read the horror stories on Angie's List, for some of the other Home Warranty options out there and some of the service providers as well. (((You know the ones......service provider is called and MAYBE shows up when expected, or maybe not. MAYBE they fix the problem for the $75.00 service call fee, maybe not. MAYBE the problem is fixed this week, next week, or maybe not at all.))) Also, even though our home is new, we want to limit our financial exposure for any HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Appliance problems. We live out of state, but still want our tenants to get quality service when necessary. For us anyway, the choice is clear. Complete Appliance Repair. Oh yeah, and Angie's List of course !! Jean & Wayne ~ Henderson, NV and Moundsview, MN
Description of Work: We needed information on Home Warranty Services. Complete Appliance Protection appears to be the CLEAR winner on Angie's List for satisfied customers, which is important to us. We called CAP at about 6:30pm central time at their 800-978-2022 number not really expecting to get an answer, but rather a messaging system. Surprise !!! Kelli, an actual live person, answered the phone ! ! ! How weird is that ???

I feel Complete protection service is a good warranty service for Angies list members. The good is you are allowed to chose your own provider. If you use your own contractor you need to pay them first and then get reimbursed. They have a preset max for each appliance. These costs are usually low and you may not be able to replace an appliance with the amount. But the good thing is that you know upfront what is covered and for how much. You can look at angies list reviews and good a good contractor. In general the problem with warranty companies is that they dot not have good service providers, and good service providers do not want to work with warranty companies. We had couple of warranty jobs done and in the next renewal they decided to double out monthly service charge. I feel that the service is not worth at double the cost and I am looking for another warranty provider.

I had a claim for my pool pump some time ago. Paperwork was submitted, but I am still awaiting reimbursement. Yesterday, my AC failed. Since it was a Saturday night, I doubted I could do anything about it, but when I looked at the information this morning, I saw that their service is 24/7, so I gave them a call. Sure enough, despite it being a Sunday, a live person answered and I was quite pleased with my experience. They gave me a repair authorization number and told me I could call anyone I want - just have the repair company call them with a diagnosis and cost estimate and they'd either accept direct billing, or, reimburse me. So, final outcome remains to be seen.

Thank you for the kind comments. Please note, all invoices submitted for payment are paid in 7-10 days. If payment has not been received within that time frame, it is because the documentation was not received. As stated above, I am very pleased with Complete Appliance Protection and will be renewing my contract with them this year and going forward.
Description of Work: I have been very pleased with Complete Appliance Protection's warranty services. They are always professional and very attentive to my requests for service. They do exactly what is outlined in their contract. I have had other warranty companies and it always seemed I was 'negotiating' with them in regard to whether or not coverage applied plus they also had a service fee of some amount. Complete Appliance is straight-forward with their contract. They do not have a service fee and their designated contractors are always courteous and on-time. Recently, my Central Air Conditioner broke down and the repair would cost me $2500.00 - essentially a new Central Air Conditioner was required which was $2500.00. Complete Appliance Protection did not reimburse me for $2500.00 but paid out $500.00 which was clearly documented in the contract as what would occur if Central Air Conditioner was in need of major repair. I used the $500.00 for the purchase of a much more efficient, new Central A/C System. Although replacement cost is not part of the contract, I prefer not having to deal with a service fee each time I need a repair and very seldom is full replacement needed.

Called CAP. They were very courteous. Gave me an authorization number and referred me to a local company. The referred company was excellent... also very courteous and professional. They contacted the tenant, went over and made the repair within two hours or so. When the repair was done, the company called me to let me know they finished and that they will be billing CAP directly for the repair. Happy tenant, happy property manager! Super easy, headache free. The $48 is the monthly cost for coverage. EXCELLENT experience. [I didn't give a grade to punctuality because the home warranty company can't control the actual repair company and their punctuality - though it was excellent].

In early November 2012, my water heater developed a leak. I immediately called Complete Appliance Protection, Inc. (CP) and informed them of the situation. The person answering the phone listened to my explanation, asked me a couple of pertinent questions and then said I would be reimbursed for $250.00 toward the replacement cost of the water heater. The customer service representative gave me an authorization number and some suggestions for obtaining the service, but gave me free rein to select the installer of my choice. Her manner was most cordial and helpful. Repairs were done but, due to my procrastination, I didn't submit my substantiating paperwork until late November. As promised though, CP issued me a check for $250.00. My overall experience with the company has been entirely satisfactory. I would recommend their plans without reservation. NOTE: I bought the house in April 2012. My real estate agent had recommended a different company offering residential service contracts, but I declined that company and chose CP based on an Internet search and BBB records. CP had the fewest number of complaints of companies doing business in Texas. I feel I made the correct choice.

From a call to them to authorization was less than five minutes, and then a call to the contractor had us an appointment the very next day.
Description of Work: Complete Appliance Protection comes thru again. Not three months ago our two year old Samsung refrigerator (you know the nice super expensive one) started freezing solid. They sent out a tech twice, he found the defective thermostat and replaced it, end of problem. Earlier this week they sent out Kitchen Ace Appliance Services to work on our washing machine a seven year old GE unit. They found the problem that others had missed, which was in the timer not sending a correct signal for the machine to go into a spin cycle. They returned today with the part, place it in the unit, and tested it for a full hour. Ta Daa we have a washer. Complete Appliance Protection works a little different than other firms. No deductables at time of repair. The contractors love them. The clients know that that there is a dollar cap on the amount of work that can be done, and yet they always seem to get the work done. Very Satisfied with CAP.

On the week of 12/17 my heat went out so I called CP to try and get a contractor out to fix it. They gave me a number of a contractor that I was to call and set up an appointment and I did. I called the contractor on 12/20 and they said that they could not come out until 12/21 and gave me an appointment time of between 2pm - 5pm. On the 21st it was really cold with rain/snow mix outside and I had no heat so I made sure I was available for this appointment. I waited all afternoon for the contractor to show up and they never did. They never called me to say that they would be late or not coming at all. I tried calling the contractor and got a voicemail so I left a message. The next day I called CP and told them what happened, they apologized and gave me another number for another contractor. I called that contractor and the person was rude so I never got an appointment. I called back to CP to tell them and the rep apologized again. I then found a contractor on my own and paid for them to fix it out of my own pocket. Two weeks later, CP calls me to tell me that I will be fined for a "no show" because the original contractor filed a complaint with them that they did come but I was not home. The contractor said that they tried to call me several times and that they sat outside my house for over an hour. I told the rep that this was not true and that I was indeed home. The rep put me on hold and then came back on the line and told me that this is a he said she said matter and that I would need to take it up with the contractor. I agreed but was still confused because if this is a matter to be taken up with the contractor directly why is CP drafting the fine from me? It puzzled me because it was like they sided with the contractor over their customer/client. Then the rep tells me that it is in their interest to keep their relationship with their contractors in good standing and that they have to keep them happy. I then asked what about your relationship with your paying customer? The rep repeated again that they want to keep their contractor happy first and foremost. I could not believe her answer and hung up the phone. If this was a he said she said matter, then let me take it up with the contractor directly because there is no way to know who was right so why take a side without the facts? Second, I called to complain with CP right when the contractor had not showed and they apologized. If I was wrong why apologize and give me another number to another contractor? Third, your paying customer is who you should be loyal to not the contractor. Fourth, I do not have a home phone by design. I only have a cell phone which makes it very easy for me to go online to my account and download my call history for the past month and see that on 12/21 there were no calls to my phone from the contractor, only my calls to them. BUT that was never asked for, I was wrong off the top. Last, if indeed the contractor was sitting outside my house with no response at the door or on the phone from me, do you really think they would just sit there for over an hour without calling CP themselves to complain that I was not there? Why didn't they do that? They never came that's why. The contractor knew that I was going to complain to CP because I told them on my second voicemail that I would do so, so they probably beat me to it and filed a no show complaint knowing CP would side with them regardless. I am a paying customer that pays $500 a year for a service I may or may not use depending on what breaks down. The contractor doesn't pay CP a thing, they bill them so why slight your customer? My mom and brother are looking for a new home warranty company and I was going to refer CP and that would've been $1500 a year for them and they lost it now because I cancelled my account and will not refer anybody to them going forward. What was said to me was unprofessional and I was made to feel like I did not matter to them, that I was just another customer. I contacted their VP of customer service and her reply was to send me and email on how to cancel my account. She didn't offer to look into it or nothing or try to make things right but just to advise me to cancel. I find it all very unprofessional and do not reccoment them to anybody. With them, the contractor is always right, not the customer. Please also note that IF your applicances are beyond repair, they do not replace the appliance. They give you 25-30% of what it would cost to replace the appliance. There are other warranty companies that will replace the appliance in full. Yes, you might have to pay a deductible but that is cheaper than having to make up 70% of the difference on a new appliance. Beware.

We do hold customers accountable for missed appointments. This policy is listed in our Terms and Conditions. Please be sure to review this information before enrolling in a plan. Please note, the email to our VP of Customer Service did not address any concerns about this, or any issue. It simply asked how to cancel the account if a customer wishes to do so. Unfortunately, the customer chose to cancel their account on their own due to the missed service call, which led to them paying for the repair out of pocket.
