Walcutt's Outstanding Windows

Dewey was great. He provides a very detailed estimate and answers all questions quickly and thouroughly. We were undecided on a couple of issues, and he provided any details including pictures in order to help us decide. His work is top notch. He and another gentlemen did all the work in a few days. They worked clean and their attention to detail was excellent. We definitely would recommend Dewey and we will absolutely call him first whenever we have any window or door work that needs to be done.

The date of service is approximate. I don't recall exactly/ His pricing was reasonable and he does good work. We would call him again.

First Rate Work by both Dewey Walcutt and his able assistant, Lee. Dewey takes a lot of pride in the work that he does. He is meticulous, prompt, and knowledgeable . He delivers on his commitments. He is great at follow thru. They are very neat in spite of the challenge of the project. We will definitely use him for future window and door work. They were at the house for 5+ days and they were industrious and pleasant. We paid for top notch work and our money was well spent.

Dewey was on time each day and cleaned up nightly. Replaced rotted wood around window and part of one sill. Not the cheapest but a very experienced installer.

We called for an estimate to replace two windows in early April. After some discussion of my goal of maximizing the glass area, we settled on PlyGem vinyl windows. There was a considerable wait for installation, largely due to rainy weather. The old windows were removed all the way to the rough opening. The fixed window on the front of the house has an oak-look interior finish which is very realistic. Both windows had exterior trim made to match the existing trim on the house, and Dewey did the painting of the trim (paint supplied by us). The windows were installed on May 30. Up to that point, everything went really well. The awning window was not completely finished because it was in the wall of a bathroom that was being remodeled. There were two other contractors involved with finishing this wall, and there was a great deal of confusion about how the window should be framed in and who should do it. Eventually the wall was torn out and replaced and Dewey returned to enclose the window in PVC. It took longer to get him to come back for this job (less than an hour's work) than I would have liked, but I understand that he has been very busy. The final framing didn't look as tidy as it could have. The edges of the PVC were a little ragged, so I smoothed them with sandpaper. The white caulk used is highly visible, so the uneven width of the stripe is noticeable. I scraped off a little of the excess caulk myself. I would have preferred clear caulk, but I wasn't home at the time the job was done and don't know if that would have been feasible. At any rate, the window works quite well and is a huge improvement over the one it replaced.

We selected Walcutt?s Outstanding Windows (Dewey Walcutt) to replace our original windows. They were very expensive and did not hold up well at all. All 16 had wood rot. My new windows are beautiful and I love them. We will have the other 16 done when necessary. Dewey also replaced trim, siding and a soffit on the front of the house. He is knowledgeable about carpentry and repair work as well as windows. He is prompt and cleans up after himself, being very respectful of your home and furnishings. I would recommend his work and Dewey to anyone who is looking for good work and a very nice product. We could not be more pleased.

Due to weather issues, the install date was pushed back several times. The wait was worth it. We got a quality installation and are happy. Pricing was competitive. We'll see how much difference the new windows make in the heating/cooling bills.

Dewey replaced all our interior and exterior doors and did an EXCELLENT job! He is so knowledgeable about his trade. Every email or text I sent him (asking kind of dumb questions) was answered very thoroughly and quickly. He is a good guy whom I completely trust. I found him on Angie's List and I am sure glad I did! My hope is that sooner than later he can return to replace our windows. Thanks Dewey for everything! We love our new doors!

Dewey was great from start to finish. When he came over for the estimate, he spent a lot of time answering our questions. He seems to have a lot of knowledge about the products he installs and takes pride in the work that he does. Between the estimate and the time that he came to complete the work, Dewey was very repsonsive to my emails - I never had a problem getting information or getting my questions answered. Dewey did a great job installing our doors. Our old doors had many problems that Dewey was able to correct with the new doors, including gaps between the door and the frame which let in cold air and a door that was difficult to open after new carpet was installed because it dragged on the carpet. He also replaced a storm door that was installed by Home Depot that was so poorly installed we were never able to lock it. We are able to lock the new door and it seems to be much sturdier and airtight than the original storm door. All our new doors look great and are well-sealed. Dewey trimmed the doors inside and out - all the doors look much better than before. He even poured cement to fix the threshold at our garage entry door. He also cleaned up completely before leaving each day that he was here. Dewey is genuinely nice and pleasant to work with - we enjoyed having him and are definitely planning to have him do more work for us in the future.

Dewey did an excellent job. He was prompt, efficient, and took great care to clean up any mess at the end of each day. His prices were below the competition and the finished product is superior. We gone to contract and he has ordered my windows. I last contacted him two days ago. He is replacing 15 windows of the entire house and one of the windows is extra or over-tied window that had to have temper glass on the bottom pack makes much more expensive and he has quote with lower than anybody else is. But so far, I think he is really good. He has kept in touch and letting him know his timeline and his work schedule so that I don't have to worry about taking time off work and things like that. He just has been very courteous, so far I really enjoyed working with him. He is so far excellent. He returns calls, he was on time. He initiates email to me. I don't have to call him and say when you are going to show up. He keep me up to speed where he has in his work so that I can anticipate when the work is going to be done. He came out and did a complete demonstration of the product that he uses. The materials that he brought to us and demonstrated I had a feeling that they are going to be very good. I would use this provider again in the future.

The owner (Dewey) and his son quoted me a very competitive price for the job. He was thorough in his description. He kept me informed throughout the project. He also identified and addressed additional problem areas and made me feel confident that my home was in good shape.

Dewey and his son were prompt, professional and easy to work with throughout the 2 week project. Dewey kept me informed of progress and made recommendations for other issues that needed to be addressed (mold, chimney, wasps and carpenter ants), He wanted to make sure I was satisfied with all work and even took the time to balance my front door (not in the contract, just a nice thing to do). I would definitely do business with him again.

This was the second time I have had Dewey repair something at my home. The first time he repaired a window - an emergency on a Saturday - that came off its track and was ready to fall off. This time he fixed a section of dry rot. He not only repaired the area above the front window, but make it look more distinctive than it did before the repair. I will call him again when it is time to replace all my windows in about 18-24 months.

We wanted someone who would actually take out the framing around the windows and look for suspected wood rot. So glad, we chose, Dewey. He found and was able to repair extensive rot. He is the one who actually does the work, (with some help if needed). He was prompt, courteous, and very competitive with pricing. We have actually hired him again for more window replacement. I recommend him highly, if you want a good job done right the first time.

I have an older home that was desperately in need of new picture window on front of house, as well as replacement of existing front door. Received three estimates on the windows as that was the original goal, and decided on Walcutt's Outstanding Windows after Dewey came out, went over virtually every option available, down to pet screens vs. standard screens, and I knew immediately that he was the provider I wanted. He was professional, with virtually no hire-pressure sales, and I felt confident enough by the time he left to give him keys to my home. He kept me informed as to progress of windows after they were ordered, advised me of EPA standards regarding lead-based paint removal, and did the job in an efficient manner, going above and beyond when problems were encountered with the foundation on the home. He simply indicated that the job was going to be done right, and provided the necessary new construction material and labor to make certain the job was done correctly. I couldn't be happier, and would absolutely recommend this company. Integrity is impeccable, workmanship outstanding.

I initially selected Walcutt's Windows (Dewey Walcutt) as one of three contractors to provide a quote for replacement windows based on prior reviews on Angie's List. I ultimately chose Dewey because of the installation method he uses (removal and replacement of the entire window and frame versus simply installing an insert). Dewey's presentation was thorough and accurate, answering all of my questions about his product (Ply Gem windows) and the process. His price was higher than the other bids I received for replacement windows due to the installation method. However, he was willing to work with me to reduce total cost by allowing me to handle the painting of internal and external trim. Once the job was started, Dewey uncovered multiple issues with rot and mold in my siding, sheathing, stud and rim joists. Dewey patiently removed all of the worst areas after describing the pros and cons of replacing versus covering up. The job took longer than expected due to the additional work. However, not only does the finished job look great, I have confidence that all of my mold and wood rot issues are now resolved, and the quality of the installation should prevent future problems for years to come.

Mr. Walcott was professional and friendly providing honest advice and guidance throughout the work performed. This job involved installing 13 windows between 6 X 6 posts of which were far from true. Dewey worked in challenging conditions of hot and humid temps in an elevated setting of which had him climbing steps and ladders. Mr. Walcott worked three days and was always punctual and communicative with the progress of the work performed. Folks, if your looking for window work and want down-home trust and honesty, then you need to look no further than Walcutt's.

First appt, he came over and measured, also had examples to show us and provided a written estimate. We called him a few days later when we decided to have the work done. He came over, we gave him a deposit, he ordered the windows and told us it would be around six weeks. He called us when the windows were in to set up an appt for installation. He showed up the date and time he said he would, removing the old windows, installing the new, cleaned up and hauled away the old windows.

We hired Dewey because of his knowledge about his product and the price. We obtained three estimates for the job, but Dewey knew his product better than his competitors. Before hiring Dewey, we went to a customer's house to view a sliding door that Dewey had installed. Dewey met us at the customer's house and explained his product to us. Meeting Dewey at the customer's house really impressed us and sealed the deal because we were able to learn more about his product while looking at it in person. Dewey was always professional, was always prompt and does excellent work. He kept us posted as to when he would arrive each day. Due to having an old house, Dewey found unexpected problems when he removed our patio door and arch window. Dewey is quite knowledgeable about general construction matters and was able to fix some of these issues. The remainder of the issues had to be referred to specialists. We are very pleased with the work that Dewey did and would hire him again.

I had a very large and complicated project on the first and second stories of my home: 25 custom windows, a set of double sliding patio doors and a set of triple sliding patio glass doors. In addition to replacing the doors and windows, there was a lot of wood rot that required repair. All of the work was done by Dewey Walcutt, the owner of Walcutt's Outstanding Windows. Dewey carefully reviewed each window and door opening and prepared a written proposal which he explained in detail. He explained the pro's and con's of window and door options. He committed to completing the job in 2 weeks, and he completed the job in 2 weeks as promised. I would recommend him without reservation. Dewey is a pleasure to do business with. He was timely, conscientious, courteous and was able to explain all phases of the work, and kept me updated on progress throughout the project. There were no surprises; the amount he charged at the end of the project was the amount quoted on his original written bid. Dewey was extremely conscientious as he removed the old windows, made necessary repairs to each opening, installed the new windows, and rehung all of the wood blinds.. He replaced a large amount of trim inside and outside and painted all of it to match my inside and outside trim colors. He takes great care in his work and is a skilled craftsman with integrity. A great combination !
