I called they came out on holiday evening and successfully opened a main line. They did the job another company failed to do (Reddi Services). Took a while to get the invoice, but they were fairly easy to work with. The line backed up they came out again no charge, but when they realized what was going on made me aware of the issue and advised it voided their warranty. I can live with fairness. I ended up having to have a third call, they got it open explained in depth what was going on what my options were and offered camera service to verify. I can't do shady service and my advice is to call this company out to get the job done. If I have to spend the kind of money I did to get the service done I want results not excuses. Snake and Rooter gave results and will be my go to for now when I need rooter services.

After returning 4 times to snake out my toilet, the salesman talked me into replacing my toilet- for $400. ( and it wasn't anything fancy!!!). The gal, Susie was rude on the phone each time I called back. For the face of the company, she acted like she was doing me a big favor. There were no times provided - just- we will call you when he is on his way. No calls ever made back to us. Overall, the company was barely responsive, rude phone operators, and outrageous prices.

he took 3.5 hours for a job that should have been done in 30-60 minutes. he flooded the kitchen floor. He nicked the counter top in several places. He left a hose in the dish washer - not sure if that is needed. the dishwasher is not level and we will need to have an appliance repair person in to adjust it. He did not use the mounting brackets that were included with the dishwasher. He never tested the dish washer, once he had it hooked up. He charged us a fuel fee, even though we called a local plumber that we have used in the past and lives about three blocks from us. I am extremely disappointed with the job and angry that we need to call another person to complete the job.

Upon waking up on Christmas morning I noticed a horrible smell throughout my house. I went to the basement only to see water and all other and quot;debrisand quot; backed up in a 15 foot diameter pool on the basement floor. Another drain nearby was also backed up. As it was Christmas morning and I was to host family for the day, I found that Snake n Rooter made calls on holidays. The lady who answered the phone was very kind and understood my distress. She said she would get me on the list and have someone out in about 2 hrs as I was not only person having issues that day. Within 2hrs Bob showed up. Very nice and professional. Bob spent at least 2 1/2 hours in my basement working. When he was finished he took me to the basement to show me and to explain what he had to do to fix the issue. He used two different machines to clear out the line. The smell was gone and he had cleaned up the area nicely. He gave me a certificate for a free video inspection of my line which was set up for 9am on 1/11/14. Shortly after Bob left I received a follow up phone call from the lady I spoke with initially asking about my experience and if the issue had been resolved to my satisfaction. I was very pleased. Several days before my 1/11/14 appointment for the free video inspection I received a phone call as a reminder. On 1/11/14, Mike, who performs the video inspections, showed up promptly at 9am. This was a very interesting experience for me to actually watch a camera go through the lines. Mike is extremely knowledgeable about his work and explained what we were seeing and answered my numerous questions about easements, right of ways, and who is responsible for what based on my specific municipality. Thankfully I did not have any issues that required additional work. As I have not had sewer back up issues in the past I cannot speak to the price they charged as being high or low as it was a service call request made on a holiday and they were prompt and professional. I would recommend Snake n Rooter to anyone having sewer line back up issues.

Job poorly done on September 30 and sewer backed up again on November 25 causing extensive damage to finished basement. Returned on November 25 and extracted tree roots that should have been done on the first visit. Insurance claim filed and insurance company attempted to recover cost to both them and me. Snake n' Rooter will not answer phone calls or reply to written messages. Do not due business with this company.

Technician called before arriving and then was prompt. After working to clear pipes, technician advised that probable broken pipe. Advised that camera type snake was needed to verify, etc. Technician did the best he could and opened up enough for temporary drainage. Stated that pipe would need to be assessed soon. Separate call-out was needed and encouraged by technician. Technician cleaned up work area and was very courteous. I was very pleased with the honesty and service. I have used this company, 4 times, over the past 15 years. and each time, the technician was absolutely professional in all manners.
Description of Work: Called because of slow draining Washing Machine and sewer line back-up. Technician Snaked sewer from house to street. Cleared blockage with 2-3 inch blades. Unable to pass 4 inch blades (attempted several passes) due to probable broken down pipe. Advised status, cleaned up and departed.

I use this company because I can always count on them showing up at the appointed time, charging a reasonable fee, and showing excellent professionalism while working. I was even amazed that the tech recognized me on the third call from the earlier call to a different house three years previous.
Description of Work: I've used the Topeka branch of Snake 'n' Rooter several times for work in rental houses I manage or own. The first call was for a plugged toilet. The technician removed a child's toy within a few minutes. and charged me nothing for the service. However the second call for the same plugged toilet resulted in extensive work over two days which involved removal of massive mulberry roots, replacement of the toilet bowl (which they broke when they removed it to access the sewage pipe), and a bill for over a thousand dollars, which all in all was reasonable. The third call was to a second rental house for a plugged toilet, which they cleared quickly. It has not replugged since.

The kitchen sink was backed up on both sides. Our Home Management Association sent out Snake N Rooter. They arrived the same day they were called, even though it was late in the day. The tech (sorry, I can't remember his name) stayed for almost 2 hours to make sure that the problem was really fixed. He explained what he did and gave ideas on how to create the problem again. Thye only drawback I saw was that he didn't clean up the mess in the basement. My husband took care of it.

I noticed a backup in my basement of the main drain. This was after hours on a week night and I wanted to get resolved before sewage started to back up in my basement. I called Snake n Rooter and they were onsite in less than an hour. They quickly got to work and snaked the main drain and removed roots, etc that had clogged the drain. They also cleaned up what had backed up in the basement. The technician was very prompt and professional and I would highly recommend them in the future.

In the morning, after we started the washing machine, we discovered that soapy water was running out all over the basement floor from a floor drain. In a panic, I called the first Yellow Pages ad that I saw, and SNAKE'n'ROOTER said that they would send over a person to clean out the sewer line. He came shortly after noon and worked on the plugged line for almost four hours but could not clear it. I watched him work for quite a while and I thought he was trying very hard to get it done. He said that it could be a collapsed line and that we might have to have it dug up to repair it. Before he left (sewer still plugged) he said that he and his supervisor would come out the next morning and either get it cleaned out or determine exactly where the problem was located. Next morning came and we never got a phone call or a visit from any SNAKE'n'ROOTER personnel. I called and asked to be contacted with the person in charge, but no luck. We could not run water, flush stools, wash dishes or clothes and that was becoming a big problem. After noon, I finally called a company that we had used in the past and their technician came to our house in less than an hour and had the line cleaned out in about 45 minutes. The following is what the new tech said on his bill. 10/18/12:RAN K-60 SEWER MACHINE CABLE THROUGH CLEANOUT NEXT TO WASHING MACHINE OUT 60 FT., HIT ROUGH SPOT AT 65 FT., LINE OPENED UP. RAN CABLE ON OUT TO 75 FT. TO VERIFY LINE OPEN. BEGAN RUNNING WATER THROUGH MOP SINK DOWNSTAIRS, DUMPED 2 EXTRA LARGE LOADS THROUGH WASHER LINE, DRAINING FINE AT THIS TIME. BELIEVE OTHER COMPANY DID NOT GO OUT FAR ENOUGH. The SNAKE'n'ROOTER tech gave me a bill for $305.00, which I went ahead and paid because he assured me that they would be back out the next day and that money would apply on the total bill. I HAVE, IN THE PAST, HAD A RULE, TO NEVER PAY FOR WORK THAT'S NOT COMPLETED. Dummy me. I thought that this was a reputable company, and they would complete the job and not leave us with a mess.I don't think that the SNAKE'n'ROOTER tech had the proper tools. (The other company had a small unit that he hand carried to the basement.) The machine that SNAKE'n'ROOTER used was big and heavy and when he left, it made dirty tire tracks on our carpet along with his foot tracks when he pulled it out up the stairs. After he left, I had to mop the basement washroom floor because it had a bad sewer stink and muddy water was all over the floor. We paid a total of $539.00 to get our sewer unclogged. I called SNAKE'n'ROOTER several times in the following days to get this resolved, or at least an and quot;I'm sorryand quot; but we never did get a call. They had both my land line and cell phone numbers. I will say again, the SNAKE'n'ROOTER guy worked and tried very hard to open it up. I just think that he didn't have the proper tools.
Description of Work: On 10/17/2012, A SNAKE'n'ROOTER technician from Topeka, Kansas came to our house in the early afternoon to clean out our completely plugged sewer line.

Description of Work: I had a break in my water line and they came out to fix it. When the job was completed, I had a huge mound of dirt with a depression on the side where they piled the dirt they dug up. They told me the dirt would go down with rain to a smooth finish. My daughter came and said that huge mound of dirt would never go down smoothly. They came back and smoothed the yard. The next morning I discovered another leak. They came and dug up another small portion. They said the backhoe had dislodged a valve. They said they would go and get some hay and grass seed to fix the lawn better, when they fixed the lawn where they had to dig it up again. They called and said they would be back the next day. They never showed up. When we called, we asked to talk to a supervisor. We talked to a supervisor named Tony who said he and the workman would come out and look at the lawn Sunday. Another no show. We called and talked to Mr. Crosby who said they would call us tonight or in am before 10:00 am No call and no further word. They said they did not do landscaping work in reference to the seeding. We did not ask for that but was offered the seeding by the workers, I am sure they will say we called them too much but we only called when work was needed or they failed to call or come by . The backhoe was left in the street. The Grandview police came about ten and pm said the backhoe needed to be moved that night as they had received complaints. It was moved.

I had gotten several bids from local plumbing companies. Some of the bids were lower and some were a little higher than the one I eventually chose.(SnakenRooter) I was unable to use any water in my house because the drain in my basement was backed up with sewer sludge. It was determined that I had a serious problem that required excavating and replacing the collapsed sewer line 70ft. away from my property line. The estimate was for 3000.00. They started there work on April 14,2011 and took a 3 hour lunch break, which had me worried because I knew this job would take alot of time. They finished about 8:30-9:00 that evening and I paid them $3000, like the estimate stated. I was relieved the problem was fixed and I could shower and flush the toilet and not have to go to the laundry mat again. About a week later I come home from work to smell the horrible sewer odor that was all too familiar. I COULD NOT believe my eyes when I went to the basement and saw backed-up sewage once again!! I immediately called Snake n Rooter and told them that they need to come back out and fix this. I was extremely upset that I had the same problem as before, except I was $3000.00 poorer! Needless to say, they NEVER would come out and kept making excuses and would set time and dates to come meet at my house and they would NEVER show up!! They eventually told me in September that they found another break in the line that was 10ft. away from the first broken line and that the neighbors said that they could not dig anymore in their yard. The night (April 14th) when they were paid and left me my receipt, NOT A WORD was said to me about another broken pipe that they could not get to!! They should have stopped digging and came and talked with me about it and they definitely should have told me about the neighbors refusing to let them dig further. I still, to this day(Jan 19,2012), DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED! I am taking them to small claims court and sewing for the maximum amount, which includes pain and suffering(having my neighbors feces in MY basement) along with the money spent at the laundry mat. Also, having to shop-vac out the shower water and throw it out the window. I live in a nice victorian home, not some low life part of town either! Please BE AWARE of this slick-talking, charming, fake, lying, older gentlemen that they have working at Snake n Rooter. They are the last people on this earth I would ever trust. Their customer service is a joke and all they care about is money. I will have my day in court and I will sue these liars and I will win because I have the truth on my side. And of course,GOD!
Description of Work: SnakenRooter was hired to dig in my next door neighbors yard to fix a broken/collapsed sewer line that was discovered while snaking my line in my basement. They spent most of the day digging up the neighbors yard until they decided to take a 3 hour lunch break. The estimate was for up to $3000.00, which is what they charged and were paid when they finished later in the evening. I thought my problem was fixed.....WAS I WRONG!

Response from Snake 'n' Rooter
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the sewer line situation at this client’s home along with the neighboring homes. Our initial service call was to clean the sewer line with a sewer machine cable from a clean out access in the basement. We were unable to open the drain or get past approximately 60’ to 65’. An estimate of $2,700.00 - $3,000.00 was written on the initial service call invoice dated 3/23/11. The estimate states “dig main line in neighbors yard, install c/o (clean out) to run line, est. approx $2,700.00-$3,000.00.” The client obtained permission from the neighbor for us to dig on the vacant lot between her home (2616 Campbell) and the neighbors home to the north (2610 Campbell). We dug up and repaired the section in question and installed an outside clean-out. It is standard practice to run the sewer cable machine through the rest of the pipe all the way out to the city to ensure there are no more blockages. It was determined that the sewer line had addition problems down the line and the pipe went directly under the neighbors back porch/deck at 2610 Campbell, but was open and draining but would probably require additional repairs. It was our recommendation to re-route the sewer line (and even stated on the invoice dated 4/13/11) at 2616 Campbell and create a new tap connection to the city sewer alley behind the client’s home. An additional rough estimate was written on the invoice dated 4/13/11. A signature was obtained before we started work and again upon completion of the work acknowledging that the work was performed in a satisfactory manner. The remarks about the problem down the line and our recommendation were noted on this invoice that the client signed. When the client started having problems again (a week later, by her own admission on her statement) we advised her that there were two options. Number 1) obtain permission from the neighbor to remove the porch/deck from the back of his home to gain access to the remainder of the sewer line or number 2) re-route the sewer line from her home and remain on her property and run a new sewer line from her home to the city sewer in the middle of the alley behind her home and create a newer sewer tap. The client called our office numerous times and was told repeatedly that we performed the work initially proposed and that her sewer line required more work. We tried to assist this client by meeting with the field supervisor of the Kansas City Missouri Sewer Department at the jobsite to review the situation to see if the city would assist since this was a “common sewer line.” I also went down to City Hall and met with the manager of Water Pollution Control to please the case for her. Both of those people said it was the homeowners responsibility to repair the sewer and her best option was to reroute the sewer to remain on her property and create a new tap connection in the alley. They also stated that they would not or could not make the neighbor remove his deck/porch to fix the sewer. After meeting with the City and researching old records at City Hall it was determined that there are at least 4 homes connected to this “common sewer line” (see enclosed drawings). This is an unusual situation in which the original builder (approximately 75 years ago) either owned several lots or were all family members and they connected several homes together on one “common sewer line” in a series and then ran one line out and connected to the city sewer to save money on tap connections or fees. This practice has been banned by city code for many decades for many reasons including the one we are discussing today. City code now requires an individual sewer line to remain on your property until it reaches the easement or city sewer. Snake ‘n’ Rooter performed the task we originally proposed, it is unfortunate that the client’s sewer line needs additional work beyond the original scope of work outlined. We have gone above and beyond by attending meetings with city officials and hours of leg work navigating City Hall, all of which were non-billed hours. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to present details and documentation of the facts surrounding this service call. Respectfully Submitted, Tim Crosby Director of Operations

Description of Work: He cleaned out the main sewer line. He used the 4" cutter and ran it from the back of the house all the way out to the street. What makes it special is that out main line has a seperation under the house and most plumbers get their equipment stuck or can't run the entire line (It is something that we have to get fixed). He was able to get around that problem and got our main line running again (it was roots at about 30' from the back of the house). Very professional....cleaned up all messes!

Called Snake 'N' Rooter after arriving home to find water on the bathroom floor. I was uncertain of the source. They assured me that a technician would be sent out that day. They called when the technician was dispatched. James arrived in uniform and clean cut. He introduced himself and asked to see where the water was found. Quickly he determined that the source was rusted bolts from the toilet that needed to be replaced. (I had feared that the fixtures were leaking from the adjacent bathroom.) In 20 minutes the problem was solved. The truck had the bolts that needed to be replaced. The price was less than I was quoted. Have used this company many times in the past-- and they always live up to being the 2002 Most ethical small business in Kansas City. I am always assured that I will have a technician that is in uniform, who will introduce themselves, and use time wisely. Most importantly they are respectful. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Technician determined the source of water found on the bathroom floor. Replaced bolts on the toilet tank-- ensuring stability and no leaking.
