Juan Mata Drywall

I was amazed at the efficiency of Juan's team! Super fast, and everything looks fantastic. They did an extremely thorough job prepping and cleaning up, too. Will definitely hire again!!!

Juan's team was amazing, efficient and wanted to do the job right the first time around. He is extremely responsive and listens to you when you have any questions or concerns. He is very customer service oriented.

Did the quote Wednesday 7/5/2017 and Juan stated he would be out either the afternoon of Friday 7/7/2017 or Monday 7/10/2017. I expressed to him how important it was that I get this done immediately and he assured me he'd take care of it. Well it's Tuesday 7/11/2017 and I have not heard a word from Mr Mata; therefore, I've wasted a week and I'm on here looking for another contractor. Rating applied: Overall - D - he did respond quickly for the quote. Price - C - reasonable, but I'm sure I can find better given time. Responsiveness - B - took my call and came out that night for quote. Punctuality - F - didn't show to start work. Professionalism - D - started out good, but not showing up to do work and not notifying me of an issue is unacceptable / unprofessional. There are no excuses because there are too many tools at everyone's disposal to assist us with making appt, reminders, alarms, and calendar notifications.

Juan did an excellent job. He arrived the day after I called to fix the work of another contractor. Seeing just his first coat of mud made me see he's a pro. His work makes you realize that there are those who are just that good. He covered my floors and walls with plastic before sanding and left no mess. I was very impressed and I'm already looking for other projects for him to help me with.

My initial estimate with Juan was wonderful. He was able to arrive and give me an honest and fair assessment of the work and give me an esitmate based on what he thought it would take to fix the damage. He also warned that if he found additional damage to the studs that it might be a few dollars extra but he would need to see what was behind he damged sheetrock first. I appreciated his honesty and immediately felt like he knew exactly what I wanted to get done. I had to wait a couple of weeks before Juan's team was available to come and start the work. They were very clean and made sure protect my home with protective paper and plastic film along the areas they worked. Very professional. The finished result was very well done and at a reasonable cost. I have other drywall projects that i will be using them for in the future.

Juan Mata Drywall is the best we've found. Juan and his crew have excellent skills when it comes to finish work. We used them to replace popcorn ceilings with texture a couple of years ago, and the ceiling were also excellent. Juan not only runs his business, he also works with his crew. As a result, responsiveness suffers. The best way to contact Juan is to simply call him as opposed to email and text. You also have to understand that he's constantly busy so scheduling might not be optimal. Juan made every effort to work us in during the time frame we requested, but we also gave him flexibility by providing dates in the spring and the fall since the work wasn't urgent. You have to understand the finish process or you will be disappointed with the time it takes. You might expect them to work continuously, but you have to remember that each finish coat requires drying time. I tried to confirm each day what to expect so I wouldn't be caught off guard. We wouldn't use anyone but Juan and his crew. I hope they stay in business for a long time. They are top notch!

We are very pleased with the work and the quick response time. We also received a call the next day from Juan checking to see if we were happy with the work. We will definitely hire him again if we ever need work in the future. He also described a wide variety of other types of work that he does, so he is a good number to keep on hand for future projects/repairs.

Juan was very responsive to our request for a bid and getting our job started! I called him on June 30th and scheduled an appointment for the estimate for Tuesday July 5th. He was a late to our appointment, but responded right away when called and gave us an accurate ETA over the phone. Due to a delay on another job, they were able to start work on ours the very next day. They had the drywall brought over from the other job where it was sitting useless and into our basement lickety split! They hung, taped, and had the first coat of mudding on by Saturday. His guys worked hard, fast, and were a pleasure to have around. They always asked if they needed to put something somewhere (very professional) and were very polite. They just finished our final sanding and cleanup. Overall, I have to admit, there's much less dust than I was anticipating. I'm not sure what they did to keep the dust in the basement but it worked =). We have been tracking drywall dust out of that basement for months (we did the demo of the old stuff ourselves) so I'm pretty impressed with the cleanliness of the job. The crew was meticulous about making sure to get every bump and nick and do their best work. We may or may not find a few teensy things as we prime and paint, but I have complete faith that Juan and his crew will do whatever it takes to make sure we are happy with the work - they have already! We highly recommend Juan Mata Drywall.

The work went well. Everything was covered in plastic. It was a long and messy project. The ceilings and walls look great. Just an FYI, no matter what, this project is dusty!

He was a little expensive. I would use them in the future.

Great, he did a fantastic job. His workers were polite, did great job with the cleanup, and arrives on time. We highly recommend him to anyone in need of drywall work of any kind.

Overall it went great, Juan and his crew were all professional, worked in a timely manner and did a good job with cleanup. I would hire them again for another job.

The crew did a nice job. They masked off the main house to keep the dust to a minimum. They were courteous at all times.

Juan and his crew were great! It did take a couple of weeks to line everything up because he went out of town right after we got the quote, but I found him to be very responsive and great to work with. Not only did they do a great job repairing our ceiling and painting, they were also very flexible. When they got the ceiling opened up, Juan had an idea of where some moisture might be coming through the roof, but he referred us to a roofer to be sure. The roofer came out the next morning to do some investigating and didn't charge us for his time. Once we got that issue resolved, Juan's team was back out quickly to finish the job. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! For those people who didn't find him to be responsive, I would just encourage them to remember that this is a small team of guys, doing a lot of work. They put in the time to get it done right, so it may take a couple of follow-up phone calls to get it scheduled. They are worth it!

I called Juan Mata on a referral from someone I trust, who apparently had a very different experience. I wish I would have read the reviews here on Angie's List before I hired him because it appears people have a very good or very bad experience with Juan Mata Drywall. Mine was along the lines of most here; very difficult to get a hold of Juan, always rescheduling, work performed later than was originally agreed. My big issue is Juan Mata Drywall did not finish the job they were paid to do. I paid approximately $2,800 for a job and it was not completed. The job began in April of 2015 and is still not finished (March of 2016). This is my mistake for paying before the job was finished - lesson learned on my part. Most of the job was finished, but part of it included repairing the popcorn texture on the ceiling in the staircase to the basement. A worker was sent out once to do it but said his air compressor wasn't working so he would return the following week. Nobody ever returned. Every month or so I would contact/attempt to contact Juan Mata and leave messages for him. Juan would occasionally answer the phone and tell me he would have someone out to finish the work but never did. On 02/05/16 at 4:25 p.m. I sent Juan the following text message: "Mr. Mata. It's been approximately ten months since you did drywall work in my house, and you still have not fixed the popcurn texture in the staircase ceiling to the basement. Do you plan to complete the work you were paid for or should I stop asking and simply eat the loss?" I then left my contact information at the bottom of the message. I still have not received a response. Juan seems cordial on the rare occasions that I can get home on the phone but he seems genuinely uninterested/unmotivated to finish the job since he already has my money. My recommendation? Don't take the chance. Maybe you get the great Juan Mata Drywall that does an excellent job at a reasonable price. Maybe you get the Juan Mata Drywall that I did and wind up paying for an unfinished product.

I arranged a date/time with Juan to get a bid. He didn’t show. I called him a few days later and he came right over. The bid was reasonable so we exchanged emails and settled on a date he could start working. The date rolled around and he didn’t show up. He didn’t respond to numerous emails or phone calls. Needless to say, this severely delayed my remodel project. This is the worst experience I’ve had with ANY Angie’s List provider. I wish he would have let me know ahead of time that he wouldn't be available to do the work.

Juan and his team were a pleasure to work with. They showed up on time and took great pride in their work!! They worked quickly and did an amazing job. After the initial install of the wallboard and the first layer of mud, they had to let it dry before additional work was done and went to work on other projects. Occationally the times we set up for them to return had to be slightly adjusted due to this, but it was never by much and Juan was always good at communicating any changes. I got multiple estimates and they were all in the same ballpark, but chose to go with Juan because of the reviews. You would be making a mistake by not having Juan and his guys do your sheetrocking job. They are simply the best!!

Juan is great to work with. He came to my house for an in person estimate, and made me feel very comfortable. I asked for an itemized estimate, and he emailed it to me within a few days. He price was a bit cheaper than the other estimates I received, but he was easier to work with. We agreed on the estimate, and setup a start date a few weeks out. He and his crew showed up and did an amazing amount of work in 5 days. They would have been finished sooner, but I asked about painting the walls a different color. Juan worked with me on a price, and had his guys prep for paint that day. I even expanded the paint job after the first day, and Juan still was very nice and figured out how we could get it done. I recommend Juan and his team to anyone for their drywall and painting needs. I will use him for anything else that comes up at my house.
