We are a 3rd generation drywall company that does residential and commercial drywall work. However, we are now more focused on residential service than commercial because of the demand for patch and repair work, removing popcorn texture from ceilings and re-texturing with alternative texture, basement drywall, sound treatment for home theater applications, skimming walls after wallpaper removal, etc. Of course, we still do new construction as well. We get many of our leads from Service Magic and enjoy the high rating they give us in our field
DWG was very quick in their response and availability. Tim (owner) was very professional and good to work with. Unfortunately, I had a few issues that were eventually ironed out, but took several return trips to get a satisfactory work product. The work crew told me that it was ready to paint, drywall was finished, and everything was cleaned up. The crew then told me for a side job, that they would go ahead and prime coat it (they had experience and do it all the time) if I had the paint and rented them an airless sprayer. I had access to one and told them lets do it. The basement looked like a scene from the movie Frozen when they were done. I asked them if they had cleaned everything up, rinsed the sprayer etc. They told me they had... My wife and I spent an additional 4 hours cleaning up paint and drywall (no where near cleaned up). I spent an hour just cleaning out sprayer. We then looked at it and were very unsatisfied with the work performed. I called Tim, had him come over and look at it. He agreed and was very displeased with his crews work. He had them return and fix it all up. The crew told me that this wouldn't be a problem, and that they would "re-roll" the primer after they performed appropriate fixes (marked by Tim). I showed Tim my finished office (he was impressed) that was completed last year by a different contractor (no longer available), and said this is what I expect from a professional drywll outfit (if I pay to have it completed). He again agreed and said we will get it taken care of. After they said all work was complete, we inspected again. My wife and I still had to sand several areas, perform patch work in some small areas, re-prime all vertical walls (every wall had large amounts of fixes performed), and clean up remaining dust and paint. Plastic was not properly used. We had carpet on the stairway down to the basement that was ruined with paint (not covered except for first trip/job), but luckily we decided to replace anyway. We are still cleaning drywall dust out of our adjacent office. After "complete" we still had a good deal of touch up work to perform. Final product is what I would call average. There are still very visible sanding marks (not from us, we sanded corners, and between ceiling and walls), large depressions that were created from their return trip to fix original issues... We expected work performed by a paid professional to be near perfect. It looks like something we did, only it took them a week, instead of a month...

Overall a good job: Pros: excellent customer service; very professional workmen who showed up on time and worked long days; a very large job done well Cons: replaced the popcorn with knock-down which was fine, but not the smooth ceiling I had hoped for; work was very messy and took over a week to finish. We were left with a lot of detail clean up (texture spilled on the walls and wall paint that came off near the ceiling when the tape was removed). This resulted in repaint of most of the rooms. While we were told that there would be some of this, we were surprised at the amount we had.

Overall, we are very pleased with the finished product, and enjoyed working with Tim and Jerry. There were a few bumps in the road in getting it done, and although these were due to a combination of events; an oversight on the boss's part, and one thing beyond their control, I still feel to be honest in my rating I must downgrade them in the punctuality category. We got bids from 4 different drywall companies, and decided to go with Tim because we hit it off personally, his price was comparable with the other companies, and he could start the job a little sooner than the others. They started a day later than planned, but got right to work. Jerry, the installer, had some personal matters to attend and only worked half days for a couple of days. One day he did not show up or call, and here is where the problems snowballed. Tim was out of town in an semi-rural area with very poor cell reception. Jerry's car broke down on the interstate on his way in, and he could not get in touch with Tim to tell him the problem. Tim had not left Jerry my home number so Jerry could not contact me to tell me the problem. I could not get through to Tim to ask what was happening. The next day, everything came back together and Jerry got back to work. Tim was very embarrassed and apologetic, and came to pitch in on the final day of installation so the job would finish on time. When they were done, he did a lot more clean-up and hauled away more debris and trash than he was contracted to do, as a way to make up for the earlier problems. The entire basement was done in 3 days. Again, we are very happy with the finished product and would use them again in the future.

I had DWG deliver, hang, and finish my basement drywall, about an 800 sq ft room with 8 and 9 ft ceilings. They did really good work with no issues at all. They quoted 5-7 business days and it took right at 7. While they finished in the quoted time frame, their typical hours were 9-3. The crew was very polite and never set foot inside the main level of the house, they went in/out of the egress window well every time, which really helped limit the drywall dust in the rest of the house. We were overall very pleased with the work and would hire them again if we ever need more drywall work.

All in all, a very good experience with DWGand gt; Tim Norman was able to get a crew scheduled right away and started on time as promised. Crew worked a full day and worked everyday until the project was done. Very responsive to other repairs and fixed most at no additional charge. The bigger, unexpected repairs were priced fairly and fixed in a timely manner. We were VERY PLEASED with the knockdown ceiling finish, just turned out wonderful. This was a big project with close to 2800 sq. ft of ceiling work complete with vaulted ceilings. Don't get me wrong, this is a messy, dusty project but DWG did all they could to protect the floors and walls that were not getting replaced or repainted. Very easy to work and communicate with. Price was reasonable and below other bids. Would recommend to anyone looking to have ceiling work done.

This is the second time I've used the Drywall Guys over the last 5 or 6 years. I called them back due to prior experience. In this instance, they were very willing to work around my schedule which I appreciated. The work itself took a little over 1 day to complete and they left the site very clean. The workers were respectful and the quality of the work was very good, they take pride in what they do.

They did a wonderful job overall, the were very responsive and they finished when they said they were going to. They even worked late into the evening to get the job done on time. It was such a messy job but they were very clean about it.

The dry wall guys were very friendly, communicated quite well and did the job meticulously. I made many changes during the course of the project and the team took it quite well. They never complained about anything even when they had to buy more corner beads because of another change I made in the middle. They never increase the price from the initial quote. Norman always returns every call and kept me in touch with everything he was doing. I appreciated all the questions he asked me to make sure the results were as intended. He did not guess at anything even if it meant delaying the task or in some cases costing him a bit more material. He was extremely determined to make sure the work was performed as expected. I could not recommend that team any more highly. Their quote was quite reasonable. It was my lowest estimate although other vendors claimed they will beat their prices (but only after I told them what it was). Sure I was tempted to go for lower but I was glad I finally stuck with Norman and his team. This is a great team and I recommend them. If there was one thing I would quibble about - I wish they also took credit cards.
Description of Work: Needed dry wall installation in my basement after framing. It was bare studs no pre-existing walls or demolition required. I had well over 1000 square feet.

The crew showed up Monday morning to start both jobs. Drywall installation in the bedroom was done in one day, but the popcorn removal was taking longer than expected. When I got home from work on Monday afternoon, about 50-60% of the living room/dining room area had been scraped, and it was rough and irregular, nowhere near the smooth finish we had contracted for. For this reason, because we have a knock-down ceiling in another room and like it, and because DWG offered to do it for no additional charge, we decided to have "knock-down" texturing applied to those ceilings. I pointed out the rough spots and we discussed "cleaning it up" some to even out the surface. The workers left shortly after I got home. When I came home at lunch at 11:00 AM the next day, the entire living room/dining room area had been textured. It was apparent that the ceiling had not been prepped as discussed before the knock-down texturing was applied. There were large "stripes" in the texturing that ran across the entire width of the room, caused by the lack of prep work. These stripes were very noticeable to anyone walking into the room, and the contractor agreed that they did not look good, but asked that I paint the ceiling to see if that corrected the problem. I applied a coat of alkyd primer an then a coat of high-quality ceiling paint, but the problem was still very apparent. The contractor agreed to have his employee come and attempt to touch up the ceiling, attempting to diffuse the line of flattened texturing. The employee did not show up on the scheduled day and did not call. When I called I was told that he could not find his hand operated knock-down texturing tool. The employee did show up after my call, and attempted to apply the texturing material with drywall knife. After a few minutes work, it was apparent that looked awful and I had him remove the material before it set up. He came back the next day with the hand operated application tool and spent about an hour trying to improve the appearance of the ceiling, but the resuts were unsatisfactory. I also had to reprime and repaint the ceiling a second time to cover his work. The drywall work in the beroom was somewhat better, although the corner joints were not straight and the worker had to come back out and redo them, and sand down the seams. I had paid an extra amount on top of the contact price to have cracks in the exising walls taped and mudded and sanded, but the mud was left too thick and showed as bulges in the wall. I spent about 3 or 4 hours sanding those seams and the seams in the new drywall to make them less apparent before I painted. My biggest mistake was paying the contractor when he came by to check on the progress while the finishing was still being done, before all the work was done to my satisfaction. I did speak to him one more time, on a Friday afternoon. He told me that he was out of town for the weekend, but would be at my house at 4:00 PM on Monday. I never heard from anyone at DWG again.
Description of Work: We hired DWG/Drywall Guys to install new drywall in our upstairs bedroom after we vaulted the ceiling to 9' 6". We also hired DWG/Drywall Guys to remove sprayed "Popcorn" ceiling texture in the living & dining room and two hallways. The demo and carpentry work in the bedroom had been done by another contractor, and I was going to do all the painting after the mud work was finished. While orignally planning on smooth finish ceilings in the hallways and living and dining room, we decided to go with "knock-down" texturing.
