Custom Cabinets & Furniture

Skip is a wonderful builder. He is a master builder. He listened to what I wanted and he did it. I wish I could put pictures here. I wanted a very simple vanity and when I started to look at what was for sale, I couldn't believe the prices they wanted for particle board vanities. I contacted Skip and he built me a beautiful vanity. Every side had wood. Soft close drawers. He even got the stain exactly the way I wanted it. I really needed storage space in a tiny bathroom. He measured so precisely that he created an extra drawer and the openings for the plumbing were exact. I could hardly believe it. If you can book him early enough, he is worth the wait. I highly recommend him. Now I just need to save so he can build me some furniture.

After looking over Angie's List and speaking with a few custom builders, our son hired Skip to build custom bookcases along one wall at their home. My son had made a rough design of what he wanted, and Skip met with him repeatedly and took those designs and turned them into a reality. The bookcase is nearly 12 feet wide and approx. 9 feet tall. Photos of the bookcase are on his website (page 3 of the bookcases section). He used Red Oak hard wood and it is incredibly sturdy. The bookcase looks built-in, but is designed in pieces, so can be moved if my son chooses to move homes. Skip included incredible details in the work and the finished project looked better than any of us could have imagined. You could not have gotten this level of craftsmanship and skill in store-bought bookcases. We would definitely recommend Skip for any custom needs and would use him again for any future projects.

I went to this company because of the reviews on Angie's list. The quote I received was double the price that I ended up spending. I ask for a quote on wall to ceiling bookcases for two walls in a room addition. We gave him the dimensions to quote by. It looks as though he might do good work, but why should a person pay a ridiculous price? He quoted $4400 for one wall and $4100 for the second wall. When we asked him what we could do to reduce the price he emailed that ' That is what I want to build it.' He would NOT reduce his price even it we changed the height. Said to go find someone else. We went to a company in Grain Valley, Alco, that did the entire job for $4200 and the work is beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better design and detail. The bookcases are of excellent quality and we received professional installation. Sharon

I used them because of their price and customization. Their hands-on service really stood out. I didn't have any issues with them in getting the work done.

I've used them twice. They did a real good job the second time too. He does good work. It is just beautiful and I got to pick the wood. I got to design it. It is custom furniture so I could look at what was at the store and get something a little different. He did that for me. The price was fair. The quality was great. I would absolutely use them again.

I had a drawer removed by a tenant and could find no one who would take the job since it was so small. The drawer was not a standard size so I could not purchase one. Skip was my savior. While he normally does not do these small jobs he came out just to give me advise about what to do about my cabinets. He did not charge for this and while there agreed to fix the drawer. He pointed out the need to glue some of the seams on the doors. (I think 5 total) I did take off the doors and deliver and pick them up and reinstall. Skip is a very honest and talented man. He was more than fair on the pricing and treated my job with the same care and professionalism as someone with a full remodel. No one would know this drawer was replaced or that the door joints were repaired. Use this man and your remodel will go as you hoped.

I contacted Skip about building our bathroom cabinets after contacting other cabinet shops who charged much more and used lower quality materials. We wanted to recreate a medicine cabinet that would have originally been in the house and Skip did a great job with it. He also built a vanity that maximizes the small space we have available, and a hamper that looks like a chest and has extra storage space as well. We appreciate that Skip was very eager to see that we were 100% satisfied with the final product. We would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for custom cabinetry.

I contacted several cabinetmakers before finding Skip. No one was very interested in our project until we found Skip. I Our project was very different from the furniture that he usually builds. But instead of turning us down, he thought about what we were asking for and figured out a way to do it. It turned out exactly they way we wanted. We really are thrilled with it. There is a great picture of it on his website. He was professional and a perfectionist. A true master craftsman.

Skip was great to work with. I gave him a basic idea of the desk I wanted. He helped me to tweak the design to make it better. I then picked the wood (quarter sawn oak) and finish. The desk came out beautiful, better than any I could have bought at the store.

Skip's strong work ethic and positive attitude helped us make the entire transition an easy one. We are very happy with the "final product" and are particularly proud of the beautiful workmanship of our custom cabinets and wall shelves. We have continued to call on Skip for special projects and highly recommend him for any remodeling or cabinet plans.

Skip came over one day to take measurements and returned a few days later with the components to finish the job. Everything fit like a glove and matched the wood grain and color of the original.

I found a referral for Skip on Angie's list. After reviewing his work on his website and after meeting with him, I decided to hire him to design, construct and install my kitchen cabinets. I am SO glad that I did because my kitchen is BEAUTIFUL! Skip is an older Christian gentleman, is extremely trustworthy and produces excellent product at an extremely reasonable price (he was cheaper than the big box stores and my kitchen is custom). Everybody who sees my kitchen has nothing but positives to say. I would hire Skip again in a second and I don't think there is anyone who could've done a better job for me.

Combined with a great talent and love of his work, Skip Stevson's ability and desire to please his customers is enormous. He's created many cabinets for me; lighted floor cabinets, hanging cabinets, cabinets to showcase chess sets, cabinets with teensy multiple shelves to house notebooks horizontally and individually, desks to tie in with the cabinets, and they're all wonderful! Then there is his gorgeous walnut music stand to support harp music! Also, he'll interface with the people who supply the glass doors for the cabinets and who grind in the depressions at hand-hold height on those glass doors for pulling them open and closed, to make certain those are right. This is my wholehearted endorsement of Skip's overall craftsmanship. You cannot go wrong in selecting him to produce for you those special furniture pieces you've been wanting.
