We went with Austin Farms to do our landscaping because they are the company our builder used to sod our yard. Jody, the owner, told me he could do our landscaping faster than anyone else because they wanted to get the sod done soon. He said we were "at the top of the list" to have our sod installed. He was very prompt in sending us a design, talking to us about tweaking it and working within our budget. But once we agreed to go with them, he didn't move very quickly. I finally had to get the builder and realtor involved. Jody then came out himself with his crew to do the landscaping on a Saturday. They did a nice job with the landscaping, and we are pleased with the design and plants. I asked about the status of the sod. He said he had a crew scheduled to come out that day, but because of the threat of rain, he had sent them home. He then asked, “Did you agree to upgrade to fescue?” I thought that was an odd question—what was the crew he had scheduled going to install?—but I didn’t think too much about it, and told him yes, we were upgrading to fescue ($600+). His crew came out a few days later and installed the sod. I asked the crew chief, “Is that fescue?”, and he said, “Yes. We’re only cutting fescue now, even if that’s not what you ordered.” I said that not only is that what we ordered, but we paid extra for it. When I called Jody back to discuss this with him, he insisted that his crew chief misspoke or I misunderstood. I don’t think it’s fair that I paid to “upgrade” to fescue, since that is all that they had available. Jody just wanted his money. He got it. But he won’t get any more business from us.

After calling around, Austin Farms was the first company that would come out with very short notice. They came out a week and a a half before anyone else could, and at about 3/4 the price of other area sod farms. They arrived early and had our entire yard done in right at about 1 1/2 hours. Our old house had the same thing done by another farm and it took a way longer. The landscaper graded the yard to what he said was flat, but the guys from Austin pointed out where the sod would suffer if laid on the current soil. They spent about 20 minutes grading to a smooth finish, then laid the sod. It was perfect. They told me how best to care for it during our recent drought, and gave me their number to call if I had any questions. Overall, I recommend Austin Farms Sod for any and all sod needs. Fantastic experience!
Description of Work: Delivered and rolled sod around newly installed inground swimming pool. They did some grading to level out several areas for me at no charge. Very professional, economical, and fantastic grass/sod!

They were very informative and helpful. The people that came out to work were very nice people. They worked hard. They came out and did the work. They did it quickly. They were very professional. They charge more for small jobs than they do for large jobs. It was cheaper for us to pay them for the large job and have extra sod left over which we gave away to our neighbors than it would have been if we had just bought the sod we needed. I found some grub worms in the sod and I don't know if that is normal or not. It just concerned me to find the grub worms. I don't know whether it should have been unexpected or not to find the grub worms in the sod. I would be a little bit more careful and inspect the things. In pricing I compared the cost of the larger job against the smaller job and I found that the smaller job would have cost us more. I would probably consider recommending them to a friend or a family member.
Description of Work: Austin Farms Sodding came out in May and did sod work on 2 acres. We had the whole back yard sodded after the pool was refilled and the flower beds as well.

I needed a lot of dirt work done because the yard around my house had settled, leaving the basement foundation too exposed and I was afraid my basement would start leaking. The slope down to my walk-out basement had washed since large trees had prevented grass from growing and holding the dirt in place. I also had some cement under a tree that had been poured there when neighboring houses were built and my lot was mere woods. I needed it to be removed and the hole filled with dirt. They brought out a lot of dirt, graded my lawn, and removed the cement which ended up being two front-end loaders full. Since I was going to have a sprinkler system laid, they had to wait for another company to install it before they could come back and lay the sod. They worked around my schedule and came back immediately after the sprinkler was installed. They were very pleasant to work with and my yard looks great for the first time in years.

I called Austin Farms on a Thursday morning, had an estimate in hand Thursday noon, finish grade done by that afternoon, and sod down by the next afternoon. It took their crew just a bit over an hour to lay 500+ rolls of sod, roll it out, and clean up. The job came in below the estimated total, and the work was on time and done well. Good value for the money.
Description of Work: Took our yard, which was at rough grade, & finished the grading & installed fescue sod.
