Our house is near downtown Lee's Summit and was built in 1920. We were impressed that Mike new the area and that he had seen other houses as old as ours with poured foundations. Our foundations has horizontal cracks that run the length of the house, we don't see much water, mostly just an eyesore and we want to protect the foundation from having problems later. ABI (Mike Bromley) submitted a bid for $4700.00 to install 6 non-adjusting beams. After accepting the bid, and waiting for the contract to be made. And after spending days reorganizing the basement to make room for the work. We got the contract and among other things, the address was incorrect, it looked to be typed up on Word, and there were only vague descriptions of the work to be done. The work was to start on Monday, June 2nd. Mike called and requested that he bring another person out on Friday, May 30th just to let this other guy look and get ready to start the job. During this meeting, Mike started claiming that his bid was only for one wall, not two like had been discussed. So, Mike had to come up with a brand new higher proposal. Give me a break...... What foundation company comes out to a home and only bids one wall? They claim they have been in Lees Summit since 1968, so you would think that they would be used to bidding more than one wall at a time. I have now spent a couple days trying to figure out how Mike could have been confused, and I am at a loss. We as homeowners do not direct what work we want done, we asked for a quote to "fix" the basement walls. So buyer beware.. This is a bait and switch company. So here we are, weeks worth of work and lots of work to get the money together and then, surprise........ What kind of people do this?
Description of Work: Mike Bromley came to our home inspected our basement and prepared a bid.
