Services we offer
We Remodel Kitchens, Bathrooms, Basement, and Whole House
We will go with Striking Renovations ONLY, if we have some significant work that needs to be done in our house now. John, Bill, Brad, Ryan - THE TEAM of Striking Renovations have won our trust and get our much coveted 5 stars. They are very hard working, enthusiastic and fun contractors who will work with your needs (and budget!!! very important) and will get the job done on time. What more one wants especially if someone is in your house working in your Kitchen and does the job as if its their own place. Thanks Striking Renovations for the job well done. It all started with John spending considerable amount of time to work with our plans and going back and forth but still moving forward. He is just fantastic young man that instantly forms a bond with you and becomes your friend/ guide rather than just one other contractor. He was transparent in his quotes, helped us pick the right materials and got us ready for the first remodel ever that we did in our house. So the sales process was smooth and productive. The implementation and execution of the plan was also very smooth. Bill kept us informed every night in terms of what would be done tomorrow and left the house clean, so that we could use the kitchen (if possible) and there was minimum interruption. THANKS GUYS! We LOVE our new kitchen and Striking Renovations has made it happen for us. I say don't think twice - go for them!
Description of Work: We did granite counter-tops+sink and faucet, kitchen tile & back-splash and added an new island to our Kitchen. Also we replaced the hand rail and the patio door... We finished it with paint job + replacing switch plates in the end. All services were performed as promised to our satisfaction.

In response to an Angies List Big Deal email promotion for a $5900.00 small bath renovation, we had John Yacovelli of Striking Renovations visit our home on October 31st of 2011. The small bath that we wanted to renovate was part of a larger three room Master Suite Bathroom renovation. After touring the project area with John, we agreed that the smaller toilet/shower area would fall under the Big Deal category and the remaining bathroom suite area would be additional cost. We also told him we needed the project completed by Thanksgiving...approximately 4 weeks! I think many remodelers may have balked at the time frame for such an ambitious project but John agreed and had his amazing crew show up the next morning ready to begin the work. The Striking Renovations crew (Billy, Brad and the rest) were all very courteous, quiet, hard working and on time every single morning. My wife felt very comfortable having them in our home everyday for four weeks (even during the holiday season!). John was very accommodating to my wife and I as we drove around visiting suppliers picking out everything we needed for our project and worked with us closely when we made changes. I am in the architecture business and travel the country looking at our completed projects and I can honestly say that the workmanship of this crew (especially the tile work) is among the best that I have ever seen. Overall a very successful project completed on time and within budget. These guys, without question, will be back at our home in the future as we continue to remodel our home. Thanks guys!
Description of Work: Complete renovation of Master Bath Suite including: Demo of shower and ceiling/wall finishes in Toilet/Shower room. Replacement of shower enclosure with new tub/shower combo. Demo of wall finishes back to stud replaced with backer board and new tile. Removal of whirlpool jet tub in main bath area replaced with glass enclosed tile shower. Removal of vanity tops and faucets replaced with granite tops and vessel sinks. Removal of wall finishes replaced with bead board. Demo of walk in closet converted to closet/dressing area. All light fixtures removed and replaced.

I have referred them to friends and they give excellent service. They went above and beyond doing extra stuff and not charging for it; they were good problem solvers and the price was reasonable. They cleaned up well and I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Striking Renovations to put a backsplash in our kitchen, install some crown molding, custom make and install a window bench in a certain tight spot as well as put in some faucets.
Well, let me start by saying that I grew up in NJ and due to my upbringing... I don't trust a lot of people. I watch them closely. Feel them out. My wife and I wanted to update our Master Bath... so we got 4 or 5 proposals and after meeting all the guys and looking at everything, we found Striking Revovations to be the company we wanted to go with. They had the best proposal and made us feel comfortable as well... and from their pictures of previous jobs... you could tell they knew what they were doing. Like any project, there are bumps in the road. We had a little water damage, which when I called John, the lead guy, he and Billy came right over and fixed it. I was concerned about the basement which had alittle damage... but they assured me everything would be fixed and you wouldn't even know we had the damage... and they were right. Ok, so that was unfortunate, but that can happen to anybody... it's the way that it was handled and how professional they were to take care of it all. They came to work on time every day. They worked hard. And you could tell that they really cared about the job. The tile work was outstanding. The spacing was perfect throughout... and believe me, I looked at it after every day. Now the finished product... we had heated floors put in, an Onyx flooring in the shower (which had to be cut exactly and ours was a tough dimension), dry wall, a makeup table from scratch, lighting, ceiling fans, toilet, tub... you name it, they did it. My wife and I couldn't be happier and would recommend these guys to anyone. Like I said, I don't trust many people... I trust these guys... and on top of it, they do great work at a great price... I will certainly hire them again and again!

I had been left with a mess on my hands from a previous contractor whom I had to fire, so I was understandably nervous trying to pick another one. But hiring the guys from Striking Renovations was one of the best things I ever did. I began by just wanting my hall bathroom floor to be finished after a year of mess. It's a very small bathroom and many contractors wouldn't even look at it. John came out and gave me a good price but more importantly, he gave me start and end dates and said they were firm. I would not be "stuck" between other people's jobs. This is what I wanted to hear. We picked out tile, and the job proceeded promptly and professionally. I liked what they did so much, I promptly hired them to do the other bathroom. I needed all four walls tiled in subway tiles from floor line to ceiling, and it was tedious. But the finished product was fantastic and just what I had dreamed of having. Always good-humored, they didn't mind that I stayed home while they were working, because of having issues with the previous contractor on jobs completed incorrectly while I was at work. They cleaned the space each night, and always made sure the cats had not gotten out. In the course of the job, they did many small things for me (having carpal tunnel issues), and gave me good advice on repairs. They also put together a bathroom cabinet for me, and when I received a child's kitchen I had ordered for my grandchild, they put that together also, so then I had them put two other cabinets together. When a few small issues needed addressing, or when I had a question, John always answered the phone or got back with me promptly. When a bathroom valve broke one night, Ryan was there promptly the next morning, and he fixed a wobbly faucet at the same time. I can't say enough about his professionalism and courtesy. Everyone associated with this company treated the bathroom redo as if they were working on their own homes, and that's just not usual these days. This is definitely a company worth hiring.
Description of Work: Ripped up previous contractor's work on bathroom floor; laid a new floor. In other bathroom, a complete gutting. Took off popcorn ceiling, rerouted tub plumbing, put in new tub, new fan, new pedestal sink. Tiled all four walls from floor to ceiling with subway tiles. Tiled floor. Built shelf. Fixed electricity, put in lights, mirror, inset toilet paper holder and soap dish. Laid Schluter strip along floor. Rebuilt a wall to hold a door, framed in and hung two doors.
ohnJob is not completed as yet at our request. So far John and his crew have been excellent. They are here to do a variety of things for us that we are not able to do ourselves because we are awful with our hands and dangerous with tools. Everything was better than expected and our expectations were high.
Description of Work: installed light switch and outlet wrapped two exterior door frames power washed black stuff off of side of house sealed around drafty places on exterior walls on house. taped, sanded and painted three car garage. Ceiling to floor. It you aren't ready to fall in love with this company don't call them. I will not be using Angie's list again unless I check with John Yacovelli first to see if they are able to complete the job I need done. The three man crew, not including John are amazing. They work quietly, quickly, very cleanly and as friendly as you can get. When they finished one job they asked if there was anything else they could do and were we happy with their efforts. They did a couple of little things extra for me that I had not included in the bid without a whimper and actually seemed very happy to do them. John is an amazing young man. The whole crew appear to be a very likable, efficient, reliable team. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

This was a qucik and painless rehab. They were prompt and very professional in everything they did. They used tarps to keep the carpets clean as they moved through the house and cleaned up after themselves during the demo and reconstrruction. Not only did they do the contracted rehab as promised, they were flexible enough to allow for additions and modifications to the work that was contracted for. John accompanied us during the picking out of the tile and fixtures, giving ideas and helping us in maintaining our budget that we'd set for the project. A follow up call was received from John to inquire whether or not there were any problemsand there were none.
Description of Work: Demolished old shower insert, replaced insert with new shower walls and a new base. Ceramic tiled the shower and bathtub walls, as well as the bathroom floor. Replaced the ceiling vent and moved it to a better location, plumbed the vent to the outside of the attic. Electrical modified for additional lighting and added new vanity top with all related plumbing throughout. Added trim and all related towel bars, mirrors and other normal bathroom fixtures. Painted trim work and walls.

They are going to start the job next week. They were very fair. I liked John Yacovelli who is the front man. They came in and said that they had a general contractor who could pick out the stuff or I could pick it out and they would help me. He has helped me tremendously. They are great.
Description of Work: I got an estimate from Striking Renovations for a bathroom.
It can be stressful to find and work with new people. We liked these guys from the start. They are really easy to work with. John promptly returns all calls. He was excellent in working with us to find tile, hardwood, etc., that worked within our budget. As an added bonus, all of the guys with Striking Renovations have a great sense of humor; they are pleasure to have in your home. They are very flexible and happy to make changes on the fly. We plan on using them for another project in our house this fall. You definitely get your money's worth with Striking Renovations. Give them a call!
Description of Work: We loved working with Striking Renovations. We started them off with a small project and liked them so much, we kept using them for more. They installed tile in 3 bathrooms on the floors and shower walls, tiled a majority of our basement, installed wood floors in 4 rooms, installed all new interior doors, installed new baseboards throughout the house and helped with a few other miscellaneous projects. They gave good advice and corrected mistakes made by previous people.

Even though Striking Renovations is not in the plumbing business, I called simply to request a recommendation for a good plumber. It turns out Striking Renovations was perfectly capable and more than happy to make the repair for me, especially since I had previously done business with them. They had someone available to make the repair even while we were still on the phone...it was incredible and just the type of service people are looking/wishing/hoping for on Angie's List. Thank you Striking Renovations!

John arrived on time and went over all the details. He was with us for more than an hour.
Description of Work: I discussed a remodeling project with Striking Renovations. John was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and courteous. He was on time and took the time to understand the project. He gave us a ballpark figure for the work we were hoping to get done. Striking Renovations, however does not provide a completely free final estimate. They ask that you pay around $300, which is later adjusted in the total bid. John did say that they provide very detailed computerized plans and could give you glimpse of how the finished job would look like.

John Yacovelli came to my home twice to bid on a basement remodel. He was very professional and organized. He understood exactly what I wanted in the basement and presented me with a plan and a bid in a timely manner. Unfortunately his bid was higher than the company I chose. I would, however, feel confident in using this company.

The job went very well. The guys worked very efficiently and kept the house as clean as possible. They were very easy to work with from the initial quote through completing the contract, selecting the fixtures and finishing the job. I liked the fact that they made sure we were in agreement about design details during installation (like the placement of border tiles). The job was completed for $500 less than the quote (the fixtures were less than the allowance amounts) and was finished 5 days earlier than their estimate. The bathroom looks great! I will definitely consider them for our next remodeling job.

The project went very smoothly. Even with the tight timeframe that we gave them-they worked with us and did what was needed to finish the floors on time so that we could move in with the floors done. I walk around 2 months later expecting to find a flaw in their work somewhere-and I still can't find any!! Their attention to detail is top notch!!
Description of Work: We had hardwood floors installed throughout the entire house (except the kitchen) on the main floor and the 2nd floor. Striking Renovations did a top notch job. We had a very tight time frame-only 2 weeks between the time that we closed on teh house and when we needed to move in. We wanted the floors installed prior to moving in and Striking Renovations worked with us on the very short time frame. I expected them to do a good job but the attention to detail and the pride in their work was just outstanding. The floors look amazing and the guys on the job were extremely professional. I would recommend Striking Renovations to anyone I meet. I can't wait until our next project!
We used Striking Renovations to remodel our master bathroom. They demoed the bathroom, helped us pick out all our materials, and did an amazing job finishing it. When the project began and they removed the old tile they found mold. John helped us quickly find a company to take care of the mold and kept the project rolling. Throughout the whole process, John, Billy, and Brad were wonderful to work with. When picking out our materials, they were very respectful of our budget and we feel they made our money go a long way. They also, always arrived on time, and communication about the project was great! I felt very comfortable having all three of them in my home. They also installed a hand rail and gate on our deck. During this project, John brought multiple samples out to our home so we could see the style and color before making a decision on which handrail to go with. Once we did decide and the project was complete, we were extremely happy with the outcome! It was very clear that Striking Renovations goes the extra mile to make sure their customers are completely satisfied with what they are getting. We have been very pleased with Striking Renovations and plan on having them complete many more remodeling projects in our home. I would recommend their company to anyone!

Terrible..I feel like I was ripped off as I never got the design plans I paid for via Angie's List.
Description of Work: I took advantage of an Angie's list promotional offer to have this company draw-up plans to finish my unfinished basement. I called the company and got an appointment for April 21, 2011. One of the owners of the company arrived for the appointment and began to take measurements of my basement as we discussed design ideas. After, he showed me pictures of basements they had worked on finshing or remodeling along with the design plans for those proejcts. He presented to me marketing material about the organzaiton. He indicated the next steps were to go bak to his office and work up a design plan for my basement. He also made me aware that he was leaving for his honemoon on May 8th and would be gone for 1 1/2 weeks. If he was unable to complete the plans before he left, he would complete them upon his return and email them to me or set-up an appointment to come back out and review the plans with me. I never heard back from the company and never received the design plans to finish my basement.

They were fabulous. They were very responsive. John, one of the guys that manages the company, is very entergetic, and helpful. They did everything they said that they were going to do within the time frame that they said they would. He did 5 small projects within 2 days while we were away from the home. We left the key in the lock box, and when we returned, the work had been completed. Nothing is ever left undone with them. They finished the jobs at a nice price, and they cleaned up after themselves. The great thing about them is they do big projects, as well as smaller projects. Before we hired them, we couldn't find a plumber to do a job for us. Our plumber and our backup plumber couldn't do it. So, John found us a plumber when we needed it. He really is very helpful.

I bought the Big Deal from Angie's list for John to draw up plans for a basement re-do. He came and gave me some good ideas and later they came and built some storage shelves for me. Both guys are very personable and easy to work with. John gave me several versions of the shelves to fit my needs and budget. I may use them again for other projects in the basement as I complete them.

I needed either a new hand railing on the back steps out of my house or take the existing hand railing that was ripped off during a wind storm and reinstall it, if possible. The company person came out and gave me several bids, one to reinstall the handrailing and another to rebuild the whole hand railing and two steps that it attached to. I chose the reinstall and was very pleased with the price, the quickness of service, and the quality of the work. I would use them again for other jobs and would recommend them to a friend. Thanks Striking Renovations for a GREAT job! Mike of O'Fallon, Mo.

We met on the weekend to walk through the work we were looking to have completed. They were able to begin the following Tuesday and wrapped up on Friday. They were on the job at 8:00 am each morning. They left the work area neat at the end of each day. When the job was done the work was solid and John made a point of telling me they would be happy to come back if we saw anything that needed a touch up (there was a large amount of trim painting). We would use Striking Renovations again.
Description of Work: We were wrapping up a basement finish and were in need of trim work and painting. The job included a fair amount of finish trim including some simple but custom doors. The job also included some unique finish work on the ceiling and the stairs.
First Day (Cabinet Installation): The cabinets my husband and I bought were a few inches too short on each side (my husband thought he measured correctly). Brad and John took one look and after a few minutes finally said they just won't look as good as they should. So they returned them to Home Depot for us. Picked out the right size cabinets-which only cost about $30 more- and brought them back. I couldn't believe it! The installation involved moving an electrical outlet to the inside of the cabinet so it looked nice and clean (something my husband and I never even thought of but John recommended). Brad and John did great work and cleaned up everything afterwards-even vacuumed up all of the wood shavings. Second Day(Handyman Services): After weeks of trying to get our house ready to sell-my husband finally recommended we call John and Brad back to finish up what was left to get done. On the second day they came out and painted one bedroom, switched out a faucet in the bathroom, did some caulking around the house in the kitchen and the bathrooms, installed cabinet handles in the bathrooms and other general handyman type activities. Once again-Brad and John are very professional to work with. They did a great job and we can't wait until our house sells and call them out to do work in our next house! We would recommend them to anyone that we know.
Description of Work: In preparation to sell our house-we called Striking Renovations to come out and do some general Handyman type services. We thought their estimate was very reasonable and John and Brad were great to work with. They came out on two separate days and did the following. On the first day they came out to install some cabinets on each side of the fireplace in the living room. On the second day they did general handyman type services.
It was a wonderful experience hiring and working with Striking Renovations. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout the entire process. Clearly, they found the right business to be in because they're great at it. Maybe I was lucky, but even my phone calls never went unanswered. I hope other people can share a similar experience with them as I did.
Description of Work: Striking Renovations did an awesome job finishing my basement...adding walls, a bathroom, drywall ceilings, and light fixtures. It was completely unfinished before I was introduced to Striking, and now I have a home office/workout/sitting room with great carpeting, drywell, tile flooring, and even a bathroom. The carpet perfectly matches the rest of the house, the lighting fixtures are awesome, with canned lighting across the whole room and decorative flushmounts. The project finished ahead of schedule...they thought it would take them until the end of October, but they clearly didn't cut any corners based on the results. I would recommend using Striking Renovations to anyone who wants their money to go a long way and actually add value to their home.
