Striking Renovations

We have nothing but great things to say about working with this company. While they are small, they certainly deliver like a big company in terms of quality and responsiveness. John is their business guy, and he met us more than once to scope our job and discuss the details. We found SR on Angie's List, and they were very highly rated. John is good rep to bring in business; he listens and offers suggestions, but is not pushy. In other words, he does not oversell what they do. I liked that. Once we decided to go with SR, we inked the contract after working closely with John on what SR would provide and what we would provide in terms of materiel, which was just about everything. SR bought very little for our project, which is what I preferred. We also did a good portion of our demolition, which was not an issue with SR. Brad led the remodel effort, working primarily with Ryan. Brad has 20+ years in the business and it shows in the type of things he can do, and the quality that's delivered. We trusted Brad and Ryan all the way and they were very easy to work with on a daily basis. Many times we'd keep in touch via email with Brad, sometimes as early as 4AM since I tend to rise early. I would say our job was one of, if not their largest remodel, job and it required some complex work, especially on wall support (we expanded an opening in our wall) which required a support beam to added. Brad and Ryan did all of this with no issues, and were enormously versatile in what they could do. The only hiccup we really had in the project was our ceiling, which we did replace. Once the ceiling put in and painted, it cracked in few places and had to repaired again, and repainted again. Came out the second time looking just fine, as Brad assured me it would. While this did set us back a bit, it all worked out fine. Given all the work, we are thrilled with the outcome. Cabinets, counter tops, LOTS of flooring, new appliances, a brick fireplace, wall expansion, new ceiling, etc...most of the main floor got a major face lift. Our neighbors and my family saw the final product and were stunned. What more can you say. These guys know what they're doing and they're great to work with. We are very pleased with Striking and will go back to them again if we do more work. For our first ever remodeling project, this one was super successful. We highly recommend them as a company you can trust and will be very happy with their work.

I love them. I like everything about them especially their attention to detail. I highly recommend them. They just did a fabulous job. Everything was done perfectly and the price was perfect. I actually have them come back and do some flooring for me that’s so much I like them.

John Yacovelli came by to bid and was professional and on time. I really enjoyed his enthusiasm and "can do" attitude. I had some preconceived ideas of how to redesign the small space and he gave me multiple options including knocking down half a wall and installing a countertop bar with cabinets underneath. He showed me some examples of his work on his laptop and gave me a ballpark figure well under other bids I had received from other companies. His time frame was reasonable. He asked for a $200 good faith deposit to come up with some designs and a formal proposal. We made plans to meet about a week or so later to finalize plans. At our next meeting I signed a formal proposal with a payment plan built around key deliverables. The quote was $24,000 including an allowance for appliances and knocking down 1/2 of the wall between kitchen and dining areas. I had other bids come in at $28,000 with no appliances and not including the wall. I felt this was a very reasonable quote for the amount of work involved. I met with John a few days later to pick out cabinets, flooring, countertops, hardware and discuss the appliances I wanted. After a whirlwind day of shopping I was thoroughly satisfied with the quality of products going into my new kitchen. We used Armstrong cabinets, granite countertops, ceramic tile flooring and travertine tile backsplash. I decided to purchase my appliances on my own and send John the specs and he deducted that cost from the allowance for appliances. At a future date I selected the knobs and pulls for my cabinets. The work crew were tremendous. They were friendly, professional, knowledgeable and respectful of our home and my elderly father and my grumpy dog. They always addressed any concerns I had and did their best to minimize the dust and debris. Their work was impeccable. The work started and ended as discussed in our initial plans. It took about 6 weeks from start of demolition to final inspection. I have one or two items still to touchup and have been in touch with John about them. I absolutely love my new kitchen. I have now contracted Striking Renovations to remodel my sunroom and paint the master bedroom. Work has just started and I'll provide a separate review on the final results.

The experience I had with Striking Renovations was exactly what I had been looking for and well exceeded my expectations. I had been looking for the right contractor for about 9 months when I finally met John and his team. I was interested in choosing SR after the first meeting and once the quote came back I knew they were the right company. The process with them was fun and I never felt more comfortable having complete strangers in my house every day. Everyone was professional and friendly. I couldn't wait to get home each day to see the progress they made. The transformation was remarkable and everything stayed on time and within budget. Their attention to detail and genuine care for what they do is not something you find with all contractors. I wish I had more projects in my house to have them work on and would recommend them to anyone interested in remodel work.

Not well as we were never contacted to even get an estimate. Surprised and disappointed by such poor customer service, especially given all the positive reviews on Angie's List.

I use Striking Renovations. I use them for everything. Actually, I got them off of Angie's list 2 years ago and I just love them and actually I'm probably going to use them again as soon as I get more money. I still call them all the time with new ideas and they say, yeah, we can do that. No, I will use them forever and ever and every. I won't use anybody but them. I can't say enough wonderful things about those guys. They are the best. On time everyday, polite, respectful, happy, very reasonable. They take my credit card for somethings. Their expertise in everything is striking. Everything was perfect. They spent way to much just making everything perfect, in a positive way not a bad way. They did things I didn't even know you were supposed to do. It started out as an Angie's special, that's how I found them. Then they worked with me on everything. They clean up better than I would have cleaned up every day.

Striking Renovations provided a complete range of services: design to final finishing. The new home that we purchased did not have a finished basement. We interviewed 3 different companies and were most impressed with Striking's approach plus talking to past customers. We added a bedroom, full bathroom and a family entertainment area with a wetbar. They worked with us to develop the design/plan, great collaboration. We had to have an emergency egress window in the bedroom which requred cutting into the basement wall. They brought in a specialist that was able to cut the hole and install the new window in several hours. Done quick and clean. Once the work began, they stayed with it thru final inspection.Tthe crew was on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. There were a couple of design changes on the fly and Billy was able to accommodate these. John, Billy and Ryan were a real pleasure to work with. We are very pleased with the fit and finish.

We were happy with the entire process.

John was very prompt and we discussed the project from start to finish. We selected all floor and bath tile, fixtures, lights, etc., and although there were a few glitches and delays with orders, everything worked out. The guys had to work out design solutions to quirky room dimensions and structure, but the results were amazing. They left the work area super clean each day.

Very polite workmen. Went smoothly. The tile floor was a bit uneven and they ripped it up and redid the entire floor at no charge. The were very much about satisfaction. We actually had them vome back a month later to redo our upstairs bathroom. This group is very personable and customer oriented and makes their customers feel as though they are part of the Striking Renovations family. They do very nice work!

Working with Striking Renovations was a pleasant experience from start to finish. One aspect that we particularly enjoyed was the company's decorative input when necessary. This input allowed us to have choices that we had not considered.

We are extremely pleased with the remodel which included moving the washer and dryer to the upstairs bathroom. The design not only fits our needs perfectly, it is beautiful. The crew of Striking Renovations is the most personal, conscientious, and accommodating I have ever encountered. They could not have been more willing to give us exactly what we wanted.

Striking Renovations was the perfect choice for us. 44K is not chump change for us, So I was very nervous about getting my money's worth. We had a strict deadline and these guys met it. Once we gave them the go, they were hard at work within a week. John, Billy, and Brad are incredibly gifted at what they do. Brad's son Bud, who worked with him as an assistant, has got be one of the very nicest people I have ever met in my entire life. Also, major kudos to Ryan, who was here quite a bit with Billy. John, Billy, and Brad are all co-owners of the company. And one of them is almost always on-site. That is a great thing for the customer, obviously. They were all very respectful of our living situation the entire time. For two months, having these guys working in our house almost every day, this was very important to us, especially since we have a baby who is turning one in a few days. In fact, we were completely out of town for over 2 weeks while they worked on our house. Yes, I was worried about leaving my home for over 2 weeks. But when I came back, it was clear that the entire crew are absolutely trustworthy. My next door neighbor, who is a die hard DIYer, comes over to my house frequently to basically tell me how everything is wrong with everything. I had him come over today to take a look at the final product. He was thoroughly impressed and gave it his incredibly rare stamp of approval. My other next door neighbor came over about a week before completion and I gave him the tour. He was so impressed that he told me that he was going to do the same thing with Striking Renovations right then and there. One thing I would like to add. John was reachable via phone, email and text. He was always prompt about returning messages. It comes down to this. Respect. Integrity. Quality. Efficient. Professional. Flexibility. Genuinely nice and honest people. Great bang for the buck. If these things interest you, you will not be disappointed with Striking Renovations. Highly recommended.

Once we made our decision to use striking renovations, we started the reno within weeks and with both projects going at once it took approximately 6 weeks to be finish with a few last bits and pieces. The gentlemen are so very easy to work with and are good with any concerns and questions along the way.

Master bathroom was very small originally. John recommended knocking out a wall to make the bathroom wider and adding an open closet. I was hesitant but once I saw the drawing I had no doubt it was what I wanted. We spent a day with John picking out cabinets and tile and bathroom fixtures. It was obvious he is experienced in bathroom renovations and knew what he was talking about. From the start of the remodeling to the end-we were extremely pleased. All of the guys are very nice and polite. They kept the house very clean going in and out all day. The tile work Billy did was beautiful-very straight lines!! The bench they built in the shower was gorgeous. They designed a custom closet organization system that looks beautiful-all open shelves. The bathroom they built looks like something out of a hotel. It is just gorgeous! I would recommend Striking Renovations to anyone. We couldn't be more pleased!

Striking Renovations (SR) did an awesome job. Due to our family vacation schedule, we had to be out of town when most of the demolition and initial installation took place. We had no choice but to leave town with SR still working in the kitchen. When we got back we were shocked at how much better the kitchen was, even in its not-finished state. It's like one of those TV make-over shows when the home owners came home and were shocked at how transformed their kitchen was. As SR complete their last set of tasks (install the granite tops, back-splash, paint, etc), folks from SR were always professionals, courteous and took care to work around our 3 kids. It's clear that they took pride in their work and products and wanted to leave us with a good impression. Overall, I am super pleased with the results. The cost was not the highest nor the lowest (we had talked about simply painting the old cabinets) but I feel the money was definitely well spent with SR. The renovation also added value to my house. My only regret was at having waited so long to start this project. We definitely would recommend (and have recommended) Striking Renovations to our friends and family.

They did a fabulous job! The workers were very professional and always cleaned up after themselves. They did so well with the bathroom that we called them back to install an entry way a few months later. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I could not be happier with this company. I absolutely LOVE my new bathroom. They were very easy to work with and finished the job within a few days of their original estimate. If any work was slowed down it was due to my inability to make a decision. They were very patient and never pressed me to make a hasty decision.They arrived at the same time every morning and were very careful to clean up at the end of each day. We really liked Billy, who was responsible for all of the work. He is a perfectionist and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. We were very comfortable having him and the other members of the crew in our home.

Had never had any remodeling done before so I was a novice. I used the information from Angie's list to prepare and work on the contract. I suggest that anyone having remodelling done do the same it has great tips. I detailed the work to be done and who was supplying exactly what parts. I loved the work so much that they will be doing a small remodel/painting, attic insulation using ultra denim a new type of insulation and installing new ceiling fans in both of the bedrooms. They are also going to do my kitchen remodel with a 10 foot extension on the back of my house and my new garage too. I am so happy with their work and they team is great to work with. They also got along well with my dog and 3 cats. Can't wait to get started. Remember to get lien waivers and specify when payments are due. Angie's list has great advice and I followed it. Also I did get more than one bid to verify the costs - went with 2 bids from Angie's list companies. The third want money just to come out and give a bid and since I really liked Striking Renonvations I was sure I would just be tossing that money out.

We had several contractors come in to give us an estimate. Striking renovations was the only one to charge a fee for the estimate, but we were impressed with their creativity in coming up with a solution to hide our inconveniently placed sump pump. We had a minor hiccup with them showing up a day early, but we found John to be very responsive and his design plans met our needs. Work started promptly and progressed fairly quickly. There were a couple of minor details that we discussed with John that didn't get communicated to Billy and Brad, but they were promptly fixed. We had a problem with some of the carpeting and tile, but the guys worked to get it right and we were satisfied with the end product. In all, we were very happy with the work that Striking Renovations did. We would certainly use them again.

They gave me choices of moldings which meant choices in the project cost. The modeling was perfectly stained and looks amazing. What a difference in the look of the room. The closet doors are beautiful and the trim work matches the molding perfectly. (i wasn't sure our bedroom could look this good). They were courteous, on time, careful in my house and did an outstanding job, The price for the job was fair and they finished the work on time. I have use them in the past and will certainly use them for future projects.

Striking Renovations finished our basement. They consulted with my husband and I to come up with a design that fit our lifestyle and needs. The remodel included a bedroom, full bathroom, living room area, wet bar with cabinetry below, and storage drawers below our stairs. They helped us utilize every inch of our basement! Our bathroom is finished with tile floors and custom tile work in the shower. I am so pleased with the woodwork throughout, but my favorite are the large storage drawers the installed under my steps. Whenever Striking Renovations were working in our home they were on time, polite, and took time to answer my questions. They paid attention to every detail from the drywall, painting, trim work, tile installation, lighting, sink installation, and doors. We are so happy in our new space and would recommend them to our friends and family

Fantastic job! John was great with our initial visit, took his time to patiently answer all my questions. When it was time to start the project, the guys showed up on time, were nice and got the job done and cleaned up after themselves. Everyday the guys showed up on time as promised. They were patient with my dogs, all 4 of them, a nice bonus. They answered all my questions and didn't seem to mind if I watched them work, and they did a great job. My bathroom looks BEAUTIFUL! Everyone who sees it can't believe the transformation and the great price. The tile work is absolutely beautiful. After Christmas and college bills are paid, we are calling John to set up our other bathroom for a remodel. This is a really good, trustworthy hardworking group of guys. If I could, I would give an A+.
