Ultrafinish Painting LLC

Ultrafinsh Painting was the only painting company we have used since approximately 1989, until now. We didn't even get bids from other people we felt so comfortable. John Witt, the owner has retired. It is not the same company. We had three separate bids, house, deck and fence. Painter wanted to start with deck and fence. He chose to power wash on a dark rainy day, not a problem for me, he was going to get wet anyway..... Problem he missed spots while power washing. Problem was compounded when he stained over the mold. I ask him to correct the issue and it was an almost 45 minute discussion which included a lot of excuses, being told wood would be damaged if he power washed again and the painter deciding not to paint our house, not me. I was still willing to let him do complete job I assuming he corrected deck issues. There were also issues with the color/type of stain used though I will accept responsibility for not being more involved. I said I wanted it to look the same. The stain previously used had much more pigment than the stain used, so hue was close but saturation, because it had less pigment was way off. The boards replaced did not match the existing boards at all. Power washing marks were also very noticeable. Painter did in the end agree to power wash affected areas again but said he would stain again the same day. I declined this offer as I was concerned he would damage deck cover with power washer because of his attitude and did not want new stain put on wet wood. Because of history with this company we had paid in full prior to going out of town. I stopped payment on check, called company, left message saying I had stopped payment and if check was returned I would issue another minus $500.00. A very disappointing end to what had been a awesome business to work with.

It went well. They did a good job and good value. I have used them several times in the past.
