The two workmen were skillful and energetic at the work and asked for our input for all decisions involving placement of new plants, plants being removed, bed edging and new mulch. The work around the A/C was the idea and beautiful design of the workmen. As far as the depth of the new mulch, the area mulched and the area created around the A/C unit, I consider Kirkwood Landscaping went well beyond our agreement. The appearance of the yard was improved dramatically and we receive compliments from neighbors and passers by.

Patti and Jim brought some issues to our attention and worked through the details and solutions for a great looking front yard. This was a smallish job but they were super responsive and accommodating to us. We are in the process of selling our home and this landscaping work has certainly booted up our curb appeal. Thank-you Patti and Jim.

Great priced. Jim and his crew did a fantastic job. We were very pleased with the outcome of all the activities they performed. Completed everything within two days. The sides and back of our yards look a lot better. I will continue to use Kirkwood landscaping into the future as long as I can.

Kirkwood Landscaping prepared our lawn and gardens for the 2015 season, doing an excellent job of cleaning everything up and making the landscaping beds look wonderful. The crew are careful, efficient, and always pleasant. They spread mulch, moved bushes, dug up roots from an old yucca plant, and trimmed and shaped bushes. They are now maintaining our lawn for the season. We are very pleased with their work and with the way our yard and gardens look.

We hired Kirkwood Landscape to rebuild a 20-year-old natural stone wall that was separating in some areas and that had collapsed in one area. We also asked them to replace a couple of bushes that had died. The crew went above and beyond what we expected. They rebuilt the wall -- it looks fantastic. They put in the new bushes and moved others around to make it look more attractive. They trimmed the other bushes and mulched the entire area. I was expecting to have a big cleanup when they left, and instead everything looked way better than when they arrived! Every bit of mess was cleaned up, and all the neighbors commented on how neat they left everything and how nice the finished area looks. I can't compliment them enough on a wonderful job, well done.

Jim and Patty were wonderful, and very responsive to our questions and concerns. Patty took the time to go to several nurseries with us to pick out plants and trees for the yard. The workers were all polite, considerate, and helpful in deciding placement of plantings. They worked hard the entire 3 days, only stopping for lunch. I would highly recommend Kirkwood Landscaping!

We moved into a big, old house with extensive landscaping last fall. The previous owner was a master gardener and the gardens were gorgeous. Until us. We moved in, were completely clueless, and luckily I found Jim and Patty to help us. They came out immediately (like within a day or two), gave us a design plan for what we knew we wanted to change and also a plan to maintain the mountains of stuff that we already had but didn't know what to do with. I like them both so much and they did a beautiful job on our yard, both the front and back. The guys that did the majority of the work were also wonderful! They worked so hard- all day- for 3 days. I would bring them bottles of Gatorade every once in a while, and they would always thank me, put it down on the porch, and keep right on working. Really nice guys and they did a fantastic job. One thing I really like is that they guarantee their plants completely- I had one that didn't make it for some reason and Patty came right out with another one and replaced it. She also drove 45 minutes to find the perfect dogwood tree for our yard. It had to have the perfect shape! She also drove by our house at different times of the day to see if the plants she had in mind for certain areas in the front would get enough sunlight to thrive there. I could go on and on about how happy I am with Kirkwood Landscaping. Suffice it to say I am looking forward to a long, ongoing relationship with them as I try to figure out my yard! Oh- I almost forgot- they do a great job of breaking up the work and staying within your budget. We did the work in two stages, since this big old house turned out to be something of a money pit (imagine that!) and we couldn't afford to do it all at once. We also cut back on the original plan because of funds and Patty was wonderful about helping us figure out what we wanted to do now and what we could wait on or eliminate. Love them!

Jim and his wife were very helpful and met with me regarding what I needed. I asked them to make sure we bid out jobs before we started projects, something I had problems with before with my previous gardeners. I also received full and accurate invoices for the work which was done. They had good ideas on proper plantings for my type of yard. They gave me a great recommendation on an irrigation specialist, something my other guys had not been able to do. My problem spots look like they will be better and all is going well.They are good about timely communication, which I also have not had before.

Jim and his crew did an excellent job for us. They were very professional and also were able to offer insight and guidance about how to do the job. We would definitely use their services again.

I wanted to note here for other members' information, this company does not want to do work outside of the Kirkwood area. He did not return my first call. When I reached him on my second call several days later, he asked if I got his name from Angie's List. When I replied that I did, he said when they went into this, they really only wanted to do work in the Kirkwood area. I told him I understood and that that was certainly his choice. Then he asked me to estimate how much time it would take to do the work I wanted. He said he wanted to see if it was economically worthwhile for him to come to the South County location where I am. I have never had this done professionally before, so I had no idea how much time it would take but I thought it would take several hours. He finally said he would look at his calendar and call me back to set up a time when he could come and see the extent of the work that I needed done. That was approximately a month ago and I have not heard back from him since. I would've preferred that he be professional enough to tell me straight out that his company worked only in the Kirkwood area and they do not come to the South County area. I gave him the opportunity to tell me that when I said I understood and that it was, of course, his choice to determine whiere he wanted to work. I didn't pressure him to do the work. I feel he strung me along and it delayed me from contacting someone else to get the work done. I'm sorry it didn't work out for us. His reviews are terrific and I was looking forward to having him do my work. However, I've lost a month waiting to hear from him and I wanted to save others from that kind of delay.

Four days later, I received no response to the email. I called after 4 days, and the voicemail inbox is full. There is something a little off about a company that neither responds to email nor realizes its voicemail is down.

We've always been very pleased with Jim and his crew. They are professional, friendly, helpful and hard working. The work is always done on time, and if there is a delay for some reason, it is communicated relatively fast. Their costs are reasonable given the quality of work they perform.

Jim and his team did a wonderful job on our landscaping. I was worried when I first called him for an estimate, and he did not have his calendar with him to set up an appointment to meet and said he would call me back. After not hearing from him for several days, I decided to give him another call due to all of the great reviews I had seen on Angie's List. I set up an initial meeting with him and received an estimate by email. I had gotten two other estimates from highly-rated companies and Kirkwood Landscaping was slightly cheaper than the others. After approving the estimate over email, I did not hear from him for several days and ended up calling to set up a time to do the work. I am glad that I persisted because I ended up having a great experience with them. They were able to do the work within a week and came on time on the scheduled date. Jim was very pleasant to work with, patient and thoughtful, and also treated his staff with respect. Jim communicated well with me about different options available so that I could choose exactly what I wanted. They also did an additional task for me without complaint and without any extra charge. He was present at the beginning and end of the job and made sure that I was happy with the results. I have worked with several landscaping companies over the last few years and Kirkwood Landscaping stands out because Jim genuinely cares about the service he provides and communicates well with the customer to make sure that the desired outcome is reached. Although there may be some inital difficulty/delay in setting up appointments, Kirkwood Landscaping is well worth the effort and I will certainly be using them again in the future.

We got a patio put down in our backyard. We are very happy with the way it looks. Jim and his team were very responsive to changes we wanted to make and took care even small details. They also did a great job of cleaning up the work area. We now have a beautiful patio where we just had dirt! We liked the work so much, we're having them come back for other projects.

Jim is a professional all the way. He is proud of the work he does and he has integrity. In the second year of work, he replaced plants that didn't do well from the year before. The people who work for him are also professionals and will go out of their way to please you. Jim is proud of his business and knows it's about pleasing the customer. I will continue to use Jim on future work and will recommend him to any who asks for a referral.

The process was painless as Jim Sutter of Kirkwood Landscaping initially came out and evaluated project and provided a quote at such time. He provided an estimate of the day work would start and they did! He even sent an e-mail confirming the approximate time they would start. The entire project took place over 2 1/4 days. (The first day they didn't start until mid-day as they had advised.) At end of each day, they left the yard in good shape and respected areas not affected by the work. Jim and his two- member crew worked non-stop in a professional manner. I'm pleased with the outcome.

I contacted Jim to give me a bid on a variety of landscaping around our home. I contacted other landscapers as well and I found Jim to be the most knowledgeable. He advised that we should take soil samples to ensure that the plants and sod we chose would work in the yard. The project took a few days due to the weather but everything was finished in the time we requested and our yard now looks fantastic. I would not hesitate to use them in the future and I could not recommend them more. They have been the best contractor experience we have had since we moved to St. Louis.

Jim and his crew do an excellent job. They are very busy so sometimes you have to wait a week or two for them to get to you but once he gives you a date he arrives on time (unless is rains, of course). We've used Jim for several years now in the spring and the fall.

They were a pleasure to work with and I appreciated their time and effort. When we are ready to do other parts of the landscaping, I will call them for a bid.

This was the second time we discussed landscaping with Jim for our home. The timing didn't work out the first time. We were very pleased with his input, so wanted his help with a much bigger project. This time, we have extensive rework needed for our home following a major fire which left damaged plants and landscape areas. We now need extensive clean up of 2/3 of our landscaping areas following the firefighting, then demolition and reconstruction. We had an in-depth discussion about what needed to be done, and then good ideas were presented with plans and an estimate. Unfortunately, the replacement of the sidewalk/stairs/driveway were delayed, so we will have to delay the landscaping work until Spring. We will definitely call Jim to coordinate the landscaping work once the concrete replacement has been completed.

It went very poorly. I requested a quote to have my lawn aerated and overseeded. I got a rather prompt response that someone would be calling to follow up but they never called back. Must have plenty of work...
